I don't know much about acquiring comics since I get all mine
from a store in Australia. As for comic care I decided to leave
my reply in the other thread you made so as not to derail the
existing thread any more since we were already off-topic.

One thing that you may be interested in; If you can't buy comics
in your area you might still be able to find the game Sonic Mega
Collection +. The PS2 or PC versions are easiest to find but the
game is somewhat old so you may have to search a bit.
Anyway this game contains 4 stories from the comics in digital
form. They're not the best representation of the series as all
the stories are from the early days on the comic when things
were more lighthearted and had a lot of jokes but if you're able
to find the game but not the comics and you wanna read the
stories it might be worthwhile.
Plus the game contains almost every classic Sonic game ever made
so that's cool too.

Ahh thanks, I lost track of that topic ever since it got merged
with the other topic so I didn't see your replies. Also that
thing about Rouge was in the same topic so there you go. However
since the topic has since changed discussions I'll just answer
you here.
First off from what I hear Ian's website makes you confirm your
account via email before you can post but it shouldn't be too
difficult. They are somewhat strict on double posting and
correct spelling though.
Secondly I think the design intention with Rouge was to play on
more of a Femme Fatale idea or a catburgular/spy idea although I
do agree she'd somewhat inappropriately designed.

Well I actually like Rouge as a character. It probably helps
that I saw her in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes before I
saw her in Sonic X but even then I didn't mind her Sonic X
portrayal. Her design is weird but I've seen versions of it that
aren't so inappropriate, like her Sonic Battle design. LINK
Still even when I was a kid, well a 14 year old teenager I never
noticed how weird her design was until I grew up but then again
I played Final fantasy X-2 when I was that age without realising
how weird that was.
But Rouge I like because of her greyer morality. She's
ultimately good but she's more willing to break the rules and
manipulate people without being an outright jerk like Shadow is.
It allows her to play both protagonist and antagonist and have
interesting interactions with the other characters.
Plus she provides a unique female presence in the series that no
other character quite covers.
As for the topic merge, one of the moderators did it because the
two topics were talking about the same thing even though the
conversations within them were different.

The conversation you and I were having in the 'character
costumes how to make ?' topic was getting pretty off-topic so to
avoid breaking the rules I figured I would continue the
conversation via PM since it was only you and I in the
conversation anyway. Just to be clear here is the previous post
you made in the topic:
The brownies I used to know somebody who was in them I think she
was 6 years old at the time but I don't remember her name
anymore
Just curious why did you leave them did Just get to boring for
you
In Australia what season are you in right now ? Is it turning
spring yet over there ?
Just curious again if you do Christmas What is it like having it
in Australia ?
My reply:
I left the Brownies because I moved to another state for a year
and when I came back I just didn't bother signing up again.
As for Australia we're currently in the last month of Spring but
it feels like Summer. It's very hot and humid with temperatures
getting as hot as 30 degrees celsius/centigrade or 86 degrees
fahrenheit. Centigrade is the major measurement for Australia
but some countries use fahrenheit so I included both.
Christmas in Australia is hot. Very hot. And the last few have
been rainy too. It's weird though we still sing all the songs
like 'Jingle Bells' and 'Let it Snow' despite the fact that it's
hot and unless you live on the ski slopes or in the island state
of Tasmania (which is the lowest place of Australia) you're not
going to see snow any time of the year. Even in those snowy
areas mentioned they generally don't get snow on Christmas. I
guess its because Australia is so influenced by British and
American culture that we just use the same song as they do or
maybe its because of a lack of well-known Australian Christmas
songs. The only one I can think of is 'Six White Boomers'.

Main course for Christmas is still likely Turkey but often also
includes ham and prawns or shrimps as you might know them.
As a writing/English literature student I like multiculturalism
in writing because it provides a wider pool of material to write
from. Although the domination of media by the United States
bothers me, particularly on the internet. If anyone talks about
the great kid shows its either stuff from the US or Japan.
Recent shows like W.I.T.C.H. or Winx Club may be only minor
exceptions. Britain makes good stop motion kids shows but they
are barely ever talked about.
By the way if you're able to view YouTube videos the song Six
White Boomers can be found here:
HTML http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gosGBYU5vIE
Otherwise here are the lyrics:
In australia, christmas comes in the middle of a very hot summer
So when santa claus delivers his presents He's not taken around
by reindeer because They can't stand the terrible heat He's
taken around by six big, white, old man kangaroos Called the six
white boomers Early on one christmas day A joey kangaroo Was far
from home and lost In a great, big zoo Mommy....where's my
mommy? They've taken her away We'll help you find your mommy,
son Hop up on the sleigh So up inside the bag of toys Little
joey hopped But they hadn't gone far when santa stopped
Unharnessed all the reindeer And joey wondered why Then he heard
a far off booming in the sky (boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,
boom, boom, boom) [chorus] Six white boomers Snow white boomers
Racing santa claus through the blazing sun Six white boomers
Snow white boomers On his australian run Pretty soon old santa
began to feel the heat Took his fur-lined boots off to cool his
feet Into one popped joey Feelin' quite okay While those old man
kangaroos kept pullin' on the sleigh Hey! [chorus] Then joey
said to santa, "santa, what about the toys? Aren't you giving
some to these girls and boys?" "well, they've all had their
presents, sonny We were here last night This trip is an extra
trip Joey's special flight [chorus] Soon the sleigh was flashing
past Right over marble bah "slow down there!" cried santa "it
can't be far Hop up on my lap here, son And have a look around"
"there, there she is! That's mommy! bounding up and down!"
[chorus] Well, that's the bestest christmas treat That joey ever
had Curled up in mother's pouch feeling snug and glad The last
they saw was santa heading northwards from the sun The only year
the boomers worked a double run [chorus]

Subject: Letter to Ian: Never a Freedom Fighter
Hey I noticed something you said in the topic Letter to Ian:
Never a Freedom Fighter that I wanted to discuss with you but I
thought it might derail the topic so I figured I'd PM you if
you're willing to discuss it. Anyway here is what you said:
tails wrote: If you want to go back to win every word have to
have special meaning in sentence
I think fanfiction is more meaningful thenpublic publicist
works. / Cox some old book get turned into a movie and the said
book is not respected coz the movie just twist things around.
just were just beating over the head with the story that is not
even from the book anymore
It's just that you seemed to be viewing adaptions as though they
needed to be faithful reproduction of the original rather than
being their own story. It's just that, well I wrote an essay
recently for a writing course I'm doing and we learnt that
trying to judge a movie adaptation solely by how accurately it
represents the book its based on is the wrong way to go about
judging the meaning of a work, because you're not judging the
work itself your just judging it by some standards set out by
the book that it can never hope to fulfill.
I was reading this essay by this guy called Thomas Leitch and he
had this to say:
Fidelity to its source textwhether it is conceived as success
in re-creating specific textual details or the effect of the
wholeis a hopelessly fallacious measure of a given adaptation's
value because it is unattainable, undesirable, and theoretically
possible only in a trivial sense. Like translations to a new
language, adaptations will always reveal their sources'
superiority because whatever their faults, the source texts will
always be better at being themselves. Even if the adaptations
are remakes in the same medium, their most conscientious
attempts to replicate the original will betray their
differences, and thus their inferiority, all the more plainly
Basically just because the movie changes things from the book
doesn't mean it's bad. Disney movies are almost never accurate
to the stories they're adapted fro, but they're still good
movies. Shakespeare's plays were often based on previous stories
and he often twisted things around from what the text originally
was yet he's one of the most regarded writers ever.
Sorry if this sounds a bit confusing and you're entitled to your
opinion but I felt the need to point out that modern movies do
still hold a lot of meaning even though they change things from
the original book.

But by changing the storyline the can fill in gaps left in by
the original story, expand elements that were very minor, create
new stories and reinterpret the old story in a new way.
SatAM is a perfect example of this. If SatAM had stayed
completely accurately to the plot of the video games then we
would have no Bunnie, Antoine, Rotor or Snively plus Sally and
Robotnik would be very different. In short there would be no
SatAM if they hadn't decided to change the story.
That's what I mean when I say movies have no obligation to
follow the plot of the book. Audio books are usually available
for those who have trouble reading.
Ofcourse some adaptations can be done badly- you mentioned Harry
Potter, well the third movie Prisoner of Azkaban tried to follow
the story but changed things so much that it confused people not
familiar with the book.
But then there's adaptations like Stardust which changed things
but instead of making it worse, made it different and in fact
improved things.
Like in the book of Stardust there's this section where two
characters are travelling home but their adventures are only
told very briefly and not much detail is given.
The movie actually gave time to show these adventures and added
new story and characters which helped with character
development.
