MSIC Code

Now we do trading business
Sell almost everything
I see only see satu MSIC Code in GST03 Tax Return
Boss want to open Kedai Makan
Do I need to apply to KASTAM for 1 more MSIC Code
I told my boss about MSIC Code & he told me don't waste my time
As long as pay GST, everything ok

Regarding MSIC coding ..firstly there is no provision in the
GST Act for MSIC codes.
MSIC codes are reported in GST-03. Note that the provision in
GST Act provides for wrongful reporting and so, you may still be
liable for reporting wrong in the GST-03 (that is ...if Kastam
want to become really picky about this issue).
Note that we are to register the business we are doing when
registering for GST. Thus is you open a new business, it is the
tax payer's responsibility to inform Kastam about this. [Note
that the same applies for Income Tax].
To summarize, yes ..do register a new MSIC code when you open a
new and different business.
However, if a new business is incidental [like selling off your
assets; old car for example, you need not register that you are
now in business of selling 2nd hand cars]
