Some rare Alu parts for sale
By: Nikk Date: June 6, 2021, 1:42 pm

Hi All
I've had another garage tidy and found some rare parts. All are
used, but in pretty good condition. I can send photos to anyone
interested.
I've had a number of offers already and it's getting a bit messy
to manage, so I'll be listing on ebay soon.
Single seat kit - complete with carbon bits and aluminium end
caps

Alu Scoops - the top ones on the picture here

Alu Belly Pan

Alu lower scoops - the bottom ones on the picture here. The
brackets for these are shot on one side, so you'll need to
remake something. Also, one of the grilles melted off, so it
will need re-fixing (they're just held in place with some sort
of silicone)

MT Alu mirrors - I have two sets, one with Yamaha written on
them, the other with the MT logo only.

Still got a few more things to sort out, I'll update here as and
when.

When the bike was first released they had a lot of Aluminium
parts available which were all really nice additions. They had
some problems though as the vibes cause brackets to fail on the
brake covers and the lower scoops and, as far as I know, the
company that made them went bust not long after.
The alu scoops and belly pan look particularly good and have
gone for big money previously.

I have most these parts...
The brake scoops are prone to failure. And as they dont use a
bracket, once the stainless 'chassis' is fractured, it's pretty
much toast until you get them remade. Which is not beyond the
wit of man today with jet cutting etc. Its 2D item. You'd need
to source the vent mesh to match the rest of the set IMO...
I have had mine redone and been successful in refixing the
scoops with hybrid sealant/adhesive..Ive also had to go to some
lengths to ensure the side lowers are appropriately AV mounted
to eliminate the vibration stresses that lead to the eventual
failure of the carrier brackets ( still available from Yamaha,
as you can just buy a stock version and modify it ) The AV
mounting does set them a further out by a few mm from the
mounting point, if you're being really fussy about these things
! I revised my design to reduce this by trial and error and
eventually found a sweet spot that seems to work.... ;D
They look great. Id not have bought an MTO1 if mine hadnt come
adorned in the accessories. Yeah- just in it for the looks....
::)
Just got lucky that it turned out to be such a well
engineered bike; Looks good, great fun to ride. Easy and neutral
to handle for a beginner like me, and a soundtrack that makes
you wanna wind it up over and over !! ;D

I got these made by Shaun, who made the Barbarian from back in
the day on the old forum...
We sent bits and bobs through the post to overcome the
logistics of 300 miles between us; bent peces of metal and
drawing blanks and such..
Came out pretty true to the original concept IMO..?
