Got the mod bug again :)

So I finally got started on stripping the bike down for a
respray after my little prank with 15ltrs of petrol. All the
back part of the frame paintwork etc is ruined so I felt pretty
dejected until I saw this when I was researching my next
project.

I think this just looks amazing and got me thinking of combining
an air scoop into the front of the tank in a complete cover
rather than the add on bit. Hopefully getting smoother lines and
a bit more radical look.
So I'm about to get creative with 10kg of modelling clay :)

When I did my engine I moved all that stuff too as well as 43mm
throttle bodies and intake manifold but managed to use standard
fittings.
A few months later and had ridden around, gone to the big smoke
and had it run on a dyno, more riding at home then I lost
license for a year.
Because I live in the bush I thought I might sneak out for a
little run a couple of km up the road.
Rode about 3 km, turned round and started back. The rear felt
like a flat tyre, it was sliding around on power off (steep hill
) and I thought, I gunna get stuck with suspended license if I
stop so kept going. Just rolled up drive and into shed when
engine stopped and I could then smell the petrol.
One of those clever connectors they use had come undone and fuel
had pumped all over the rear tyre giving the flat tyre
feeling.It was sliding on petrol.
It ran out just as pulled into shed. I had not connected it
properly months before and yet it lasted through quite a bit of
high speed stuff. On way back from the dyno run had taken it to
6000 redline in top (223kmh). Still had 16 tooth on front then.
Lucky like you were. And I never rode or drove anything again
till license back.
Good luck with your new project.
BTW, happened to be looking at mt01 pics on net the other day
and came across a custom one by Lazarus.
EDIT, Ive responded to the wrong thread but you,ll work it out
;D

Hi Graeme, In a way your chances of disaster were higher than
mine! Sliding about on petrol, mind you I think I'd have rather
had petrol on the wheel than on me :).
The original Laz photos were what got me started, I just got a
bit carried away! The clay modelling is going well, I'll post
some photos when done.
Oh yeah, wrong thread but who cares. Bet you're looking forward
to the summer there.

Hi Max, for sure but just now its a bit wintry in southern
Victoria. Am at Phillip Island doing level 3 today and level 4
tomorrow with california superbike school.
That weather you saw last week with that wind etc is happening
again. Got most of today in ok, even had a dry track for 2
sessions but tomorrow might not be so good. The MT does well, it
keeps up pretty well with most bikes and is a constant source of
wonder for the sportsbike riders. Overhauled an 1100 Tuono up
the straight today.
Sound wise its a real winner, many a comment made.
It will be too hot quick enough though ;D
