It wasn't possible unfortunately

It's the least they could have done. Out of respect for the
members and the moderators. Without them, they never would have
had a forum. Yet they decided to pull the whole thing with a few
days notice.

It does seem incredibly odd but I can only assume there's an
awful lot more to it than meets the eye, otherwise why wouldn't
the old admin jump at the chance of me offering to restore the
community (in a way they saw fit, not for my personal gain) and
commit to the hassle and expense of running it. Anyway I shan't
say any more on the topic as it seems to be a sore subject, I
just find it incredibly frustrating and disappointing that they
won't accept help when I'm offering everything needed on a
plate. Hopefully it's just a time thing and they'll get back to
me soon but obviously the longer things take, the more people
will just think the website is gone forever and won't return
even if the forum was saved.
There must be more to it.

From what I can gather it's not as simple as being able to hand
things over. For one there is the use of the name, we have no
rights to that. Secondly the issue of GDPR which would have
created a problem in handing over but also as soon as the forum
was removed part of GDPR is also to dispose of personal details
so even the day after I say it would have been too late for your
offer.

MT on FB does link to us here I believe. I can appreciate the
logistics and potential legal/trading issues with being too
closely connected, I'm not anticipating much of the MT brand
being pushed for the time being unless they see a new way to
monetise it

Out of interest, what is the MT brand? Im sure the MT shop
disappeared a while ago, and now the forum is dead, what's left?

Not 100% what it exactly encompasses from a business
perspective, I think for now it's just the site and whatever
advertising revenue they get through traffic for it's remaining
articles but I dare say in the future they may launch something
using the MT brand that does have some history and crudentials
behind it.
The MT name/brand is still used for a bodybuilding show too.

I like to keep accountable with a journal and the journal
section is always good for a bit of craic.

offering a none affiliated link to an alternative forum wouldn't
have broke any rules, no details would have been handed over ,
accounts wouldn't have been imported . Its no different than
some of there articles they have referencing studies elsewhere .
Just a message to say forum closed , some memebrs have started a
new forum themselves just to keep in touch " this is not linked
to MT in any way"

doc, I was replying to Simon in regard to him taking over the
site. I'm sure anyone who really wants to know what happened
will have the sense to go to MT on Facebook and see the link on
there. I can't answer why Jason didn't put a link up, I'm sure
he had his reasons and even with a disclaimer there's still an
association.
