Have Apple lost the plot?

;)
£6k for a Mac Pro? hmm, yeah, OK
Another £5k for a Display. ... well, if its that good, Yeah,
alright.
..But that Display doesn't have a stand, if you want the stand(a
piece of aluminium that's another £1k... WTF??
I suppose I get it, when there is a wealth divide such as we
now have, and you are a fashion company, such as Apple obviously
see themselves as, then you have to make sure you offer
products that go RIGHT UP as far as people are crazy enough to
pay.
From the people I have spoken to, Apple's original userbase
(Creative professionals and Hipsters) are looking on, saying
"nice", but I'll stick with an iMac Pro, or an iPad Pro.
I think with this new Mac Pro, along with the silly iPhone
prices, Apple are now going straight for the fashion market,
Millionaire CEO's and those that wish to emulate them on
Instagram. I've heard people say that if you max out the specs
on these things, you can be looking at a £50k total!

Its all in context
Its "referance" monitor, we have one and I think it cost
something like 30k. So if the Apple screen matches up then that
is colossal saving for pro/ industry people.
Also the stand. Yea its a rip off, but our screen has been
replaced/ updated about 4 times over the years. The stand is
never changed as its going on teh same one over and over. The
£200 VESA Mount adapter is a full on con though, just because
Apple decided to make there own needless mounting. Also the
stand offers nothing special at all.
If you know anyone at home that buys one you can laugh, they
will never find a use for it in that setting.
Saying that, I dont know one studio in teh last 10 years that
using any Apple stuff what so ever. They burned there bridges
with shitty inpractical designs, lack of ability and shitty
breaking software and updates.

Yes they have lost the plot , they have great home PC's but they
are still quite expensive . But if this was for a workplace of
an edit suite/studio there are much better industrial options.
If they have come out with a proper reference then they are
still about 20 years behind the competition, if it does matchup
up as cu3ed says it could be a saving , they do have much better
economies of scale than others in that market . But it's a first
where Apple will come in cheaper than their competitors.
We have some insanely expensive monitors ( for TV broadcast)
used to check pictures ( overscanned) so you can see the audio
tracks and subs data, check colours are legal , they need
calibrating every 12 months , pretty much on 24/7 365 ( Apple
don't make products that last)
worked around a lot of local broadcasters and content makers and
I don't see much Apple equipment at all , although stuff like
final cut is pretty damned good especially if your a youtuber,
only time i see a lot of Apple is with graphic design, which I
think this product is aimed at, apparently it lacks HDMI or SDI
connections ( which is understandable with it being 6k) so its
not going to be integrated into other systems as a stand alone
monitor .
