DB's can get expensive. I prefer the 1" plates for dumbells. Buy
some handles and just build up a selection of plates as you go
along.

Is that with spin locks? When the Dumbbell gets heavy and you
have to balance them on your legs before kicking up won’t they
dig in? How else can you make a Dumbbell with a flat end without
welding?

I use Spinlocks for reasons both of budget and space, I have
used up to 60kgs without issue, I just got kind of used to
resting the plate part of the dumbbells on my legs rather than
the whole thing. More of a problem for me was hitting myself
on the head with the bars when shoulder pressing, but you only
do that a couple of times :'(
I have some dumbbell hooks too, which are great, but they are a
bit marmite.

I use the 1” spring collars. No issues resting them on my legs
before kicking them up into position. Like Z say’s, I just rest
them on the plate but. There is a bit of a knack to it, but it’s
pretty easy tbh.

I need to get some DB hooks.... I'm sure kicking up DBs with an
already dodgy shoulder doesn't help matters

My shoulder issues always start from getting heavy dumbells up
for a chest press.
I've seen dumbbell rests similar to a bench. Yet to see one at a
gym I've train at.

If you can get hold of some scaffold for cheap it makes an
awesome rack. I got mine for £60 with a sack of clips and it's
never let me down.
Bands are a must have as you can do so much with them and
they're dirt cheap. Sandbags are also a nice addition for the
same reasons.
Also; ab wheel. Great little tool that doesn't get enough
attention.
