I've just realised I've got a few days left until my NowTV pass
expires, excellent news! I can easily fit that into my schedule
lol
I have a love/hate relationship with Now TV, virtually every
time I have tried to watch any kind of series on it I will get
halfway through, then it will disappear. Leaving me to use
other options, which I probably might as well have used in the
first place.

I found that problem with BBC Iplayer, we got to the final
episode of a series and it was gone, had to get a mate to
download it for us from one of his dodgy subscription services.
I didn't realise NowTV did it though, I thought everything on
there was always there? I only got it to watch GoT, only paid
for 2 months worth so was pretty happy with that, but I had no
desire to keep it after, apart from this Chernobyl series now.
I'm going off the idea of multiple streaming services anyway,
I'd be happy to just stick with Amazon Prime, as I use that for
prime delivery more than anything, the TV service is a bonus.
Netflix is good but there's so much to watch that you can choose
from it becomes a minefield, I'd prefer to have less choice
sometimes lol.

Just watched the last episode. One of, if not the best series
I've ever watched.
Apparently much of the filming was done at the decommissioned
nuclear power plant 'Ignalina' in Lithuania which is very
similar to Chernobyl.
I did wonder how they got so much detail into some of those
shots.
The ending was brilliant, loved how the put the court room as
the stage to reenact what happened in that room.
Those closing subs and images though where amazing, and
haunting.
Just finished it ourselves. Totally agree on the closing subs,
made me go cold. So the Russian "official" dead is 31!!!! But
how can a true estimate be between 4000-93000 actual deaths? Bit
of a wide discrepancy.
Those poor people conscripted to work there too, never knew
about that.

It's a good show but im suprised its the highest ever rated show
on IMDB.
Conspiracy theory but probably an agenda to discourage the
future use of nuclear power so a massive rating will bring
people in. No Al Gores pish got the same rating back in the day.
It gained good reviews because it now stands as a big eye opener
to the world. Chernobyl was kept quiet by the Russians for many
years. They are still denying that more than 31 people died
because of it, when in reality possibly over 100k were affected.
E3 was the worst, when we saw what radiation poisoning was
really like.

Its kinda in reverse. Most European countries like France and UK
said there wasn't a really big problem. France especially more
or less made out the fall out stopped just at there border due
to there Nuclear expansion plans. The fallout was played down by
many countries for fears people would turn against the use of
Nuclear power.

Is that a documented fact then? There is a book out there, I
will do a search that detailed the fallout from 1st hand
observers, it supposedly goes into the cover up as the USSR
wanted to save face. It was the fall of Soviet block that
caused big leaks and people coming forward. Unless it was more
of pushing the blame on the workers rather than the technology.

Little known fact: every person alive has material in their
bodies from every single nuclear explosion there ever was,
including the fallout from chernobyl. But lets not scare people
with that lets continue demonising full fat milk and cholesterol

Finished watching this last night, great series. It's like
watching a really interesting documentary and a drama in one.
Really impressed.
The way the chain of events happened in the final episode was
riveting, and the method of explaining the science behind
nuclear fission was exceptional, really made it easily
understandable. Even my Mrs understood it (I think) lol.
Still really hard to believe that such a catastrophic incident
occurred, and that they tried to cover it up.

Crazy. I watched a program a few years back talking about the
nuclear energy and the bomb changed everything. Apparently the
toughest steel ever is now in ship wrecks at the bottom of the
sea, this is because, when the first atom bomb was dropped
particles when into the air. Because steel production uses a
lot of oxygen every piece of steel made since contain some of
these particles.
