Just measure your roof rack if you're concerned mate. I would
guess 20 would be absolutely fine though.

Get your local builders merchants to deliver, be considerably
       cheaper than wickes too.

Most of my stuff is coming delivered but I’m ahead of schedule
and off work for the next 2 days so don’t want to be waiting
round twidling my thumbs. The price difference has been noticed
though .. wickes is a lot cheaper then B&Q but nothing on our
       local timber merchant.

They’ll fit on the roof rack no problem, I’m concerned about the
weight on the roof. I did a run with 12 concrete blocks and a
few bags of sand in the boot today and the car was low.. but the
roof is only supported by the A frames. Had a worry it might
       collapse lol

I had 32 2.4m deck boards on my roof rack car was running a bit
low but nowt to bad although now the o/s rear hub bearing is
whirring a bit but I just turn the music up.

       All done.
       The answer is ...
The roof rack bars would bend and probably snap long before the
       roof caved in!

So were the roof bars up to it then?
You didn't mention what car you were using?
