Brave man, it always feel like I'm going to crush my fingers
when I do these and so I don't. I do enjoy a good old snatch
grip deadlift though. I take it the 8" height is for mobility
       purposes?

crush your fingers? from mr 240 hook steel thumbs himself haha.
8" is my weakest point in a rack/block pull so thats my go to
height to try and get it stronger. i saw Jonny Candito doing
sumo stance snatch grip deads the other day.. that looks
       interesting .. like a starfish!

Ha you make a good point. Where does that put the starting
point of the bar in relation you your body? Everyone has a dead
zone somewhere, mines about 12" which out the bar just above mid
shin. Since I'm shorter than you I take it we're measuring
things differently and I believe 8" would be a slight deficit
       from my description.
I saw that video as well and immediately wanted to give it a
       try.

Puts it just above mid shin. I measure my Rack Pulls as if they
were block pulls so 8” from the floor to the bottom of the
plate. Def not a deficit. Some people measure to the bar

Sounds almost exactly the same place as my dead zone. I measure
the bar height since in strong man an 18" deadlift is the bar
height, now there's an event I was built for.

Weather delayed me a bit last week. This weekend the floor will
be finished and I’ll start framing the walls. I’m hoping I can
frame and clad 3 walls by next weekend weather dependant. I need
to source a patio door before I can build the front. I’m using
OSB board and you can’t get the edges wet so until the roofs on,
I can only work in the dry.
