Are we going for a new logo and name?
       By: guest5 Date: June 2, 2019, 12:26 am

I think the matchbox logo above looks pretty naff to be honest
(I take it, it came with the site graphics), though I realise
it's still early days for the site. I remember MT having a
competition for the best logo which is still in use today. Also,
are we looking at changing the name or keeping it as 'MT Lives'?
Personally I think a name, whether the current one or something
different should show the affiliation most of its current
members and admin had with MuscleTalk. Afterall, this site was
borne out of MuscleTalks demise I suppose.

We (Admin) have not talked about this yet, so I can only give my
       personal thoughts
Yes, I think we will need our own Identity and Branding, but I
don't think it's even worth spending time on until we know it
the forum is still going to be here in a couple of months time,
I hate to say this as I know it comes across negatively, but
I've seen these forums start strong, then dwindle down to a
couple of "life support" posts a week, usually started by admin
or key founder members, desperate to keep things going.
If we flourish, then the name we choose, I think, needs to
reflect our MT origins without even touching Jason's brand...
while at the same time spelling out what we are to new members
that had never heard of MT.
Not a lot of point in blind designing a logo until we have a
       name.

Once we all have our feet under the table and things are ticking
along and we're all settled, yes, I think it would be nice to
put a proper stamp on what we are and where we want to be as a
forum.... logo, name, branding etc. With SM these days it would
in theory be easy to then get our name out there and see if we
can actually do something and maybe find something niche in this
tech age we can run with.
Starting from the ground up with so many experienced forum users
gives us a rather unique starting point to get ideas and
momentum. I genuinely have hope that we can get something going
       here.
No rush, we're all getting to grips with what goes on and can be
done (and what we even may all want to do), but definitely
something on the to do list IMHO

^^ I get that DV - I guess that what we have here is what might
be termed as 'core' members - those that would've stuck with
Muscletalk no matter that it went relatively quiet. The danger
is that some of the same members might feel that it's not worth
bothering with given that the post turnover is likely to be
significantly less than that (at least for a while...probably a
long while realistically). The sort of guys & gal we have at
this launch position are exactly the type of people we'd like to
       stick around

Yes, we are somewhat of a life-raft. Normally with MT Spin offs
their sole purpose is to be "like MT" but without certain
aspects, rules, or whatever. whereas ours is the complete
opposite, in that we are trying to "be" MT for all intents and
purposes, and while usually people would go off and have a sniff
around the new forums, the would almost certainly return to MT
in the end, we are trying to be the constant here, not the
change, so this could potentially be the thing that helps us
       through that birth period.

I think our current priority should be to try and get this
current identity out to all former MT'ers that didn't get the
memo already. Once we are confident that they are all, or mostly
on board, then it might be time to look at branding, but the
last thing I feel we should do now is change identity during
that period of rounding up ex members, and create more
       confusion.
How we go about rounding up those members is a whole new
       conversation.

I'll wager there will be many MT members logging into MT now and
over the coming weeks and months and wondering where the forum
has gone. The only way I can see of redirecting them is by a
link to 'MT Lives' from the home page of the MuscleTalk site. I
imagine many will not think to look on facebook if indeed
they're even on there. I can't see any other way.

yeah that's what I thought , might be something legal we don't
know about , but it would be nice to get some clarification,
especially if MT points people to here and they get cyber
bullied or offended ( new age offence takers and all) and it
gets traced back to the MT brand .

A few people did suggest this, and Jason responded with a kind
offer to put a link on the MT facebook page. I think this makes
it pretty clear that he wouldn't want that kind of association
on the MT site itself, and I can totally understand that, MT
Lives is an unknown entity, and we have seen other spin off
sites turn into places that no sane person would want to be
affiliated with, certainly not someone who makes a living out of
       the internet.
