       Fond memories

Scary how much time I used to spend in MT General. So, so much
credit due to the forum back in the day. Hope everyone is living
       the dream!

Hey dude.... good to hear from you. Bit quiet round here
nowadays, forums aren't what they were.... and were definitely
better than the SM world that it has now become.
If by living the dream you mean falling apart and getting old,
then yes, completely. How's 1MR world?

Yeah it is a shame they all died off. I checked in on MT a
couple of times before the demise and it was very quiet. I don't
bother with SM these days neither. Although being anonymous
online created its own problems, I certainly preferred being a
       faceless username on a forum.
Falling apart and getting old... relatable! Are you still
       lifting?

Just about. Got another ruptured bicep that I've been waiting 7
months for surgery on. I also need a total shoulder replacement
and currently have 30% mobility so not done any aas beyond trt
for a year now (53 week this week).
Rad is stil active and chatting on ugm but it's pretty much just
him and me on there nowadays.
Are you up to much nowadays

Ouch - is that from lifting or from some kind of acute injury?
I have a dodgy cervical disc from bad trampoline landing which
causes me intermittent issues when I trigger it. A dodgy left
shoulder that seemed to happen doing muscle ups in a CrossFit
class, but it might have been aggravation of an underlying
tweak. Hoping to avoid surgery but will see what physio says
next month. I'm 38 and very much in denial.
Good old RAD! I can't post on UGM as I can't remember my login
and my new account didn't get approved.
I did strongman for a bit, then just lifting for lifting's sake,
then a couple of years before the scamdemic and throughout the
scamdemic I lost the plot for a couple of years for a variety of
reasons and fell out of shape a bit.
Still lifting and in fairly good nick but past the stage of
wanting to be the biggest, baddest, strongest. Largely a balance
of strength training, vanity training and general phys. I'm a
military reservist so a lot of training is geared towards that.

Getting old, mate. The ruptured bicep is just sod's law. The
shoulder is essentially severe arthritis and it's been bone of
bone for a few years now - don't turn 50, it sucks LOL
Replacement only lasts between 5-8 years and each replacement is
weaker than the one before it and it's not a 'have your life
back again' type of op. Like you, this has very much made my
training a case of keeping what I have as progressing, building
and getting any better than I currently am is really no longer
feasible. Thankfully I'm only about 3-4kg down on what I
generally am when in this kind of condition so happy with that,
just a head fvck training with a different mentality.
Rad is doing well, still in Portugal running a residential
static site, his Mum is now with him and he's bought a place
with a fvck off amount of land and a lake that he's renovating.
Working hard but the dream is coming to fruition out there

Another one here to say don't turn 50 :-/. I'm 57 now and in
need of a hip replacement and know so many others who spent
hours in the gym also needing/having had replacements!! Not
helped by also having completely torn the ACL in the opposite
knee!! Told by the surgeon because of my age and that I'm not an
elite athlete I'm not a candidate for surgery so am now walking
round with a double limp. Hope to get hip done in summer!!

My Mrs had a new hip in 2021, she did have avascular necrosis.
Got it all done via the NHS at a private hospital. But at least
hip replacements last longer and actually give you normal
       function and life back again.
Hope you get it done soon, Kitty. All else well?

Bloody hell, sympathies to both of you. Do you think a life of
heavy lifting is the cause of your problems or other lifestyles
factors? Or just bad luck? I definitely take health more
seriously than I used to and I'm so glad my ego is satiated
nowadays and I'm not chasing deadlift numbers.
Are you still living in C-Town Kitty? I think Boar still lives
round the corner but not spoken to him for years.

I think mine is bad luck. It's just the one shoulder, nothing
else is that bad but that shoulder is FUBAR. Bicep ruptures are
just luck of draw. Had both go now. I wish I could blame heavy
lifting... I was never that strong LOL
