Cheers Brett.
The car has really beaten me up. Day one wash, decontamination
and polish was 9.30-16.00.
Day 2, IPA wipe down, 2 coats of ceramic coating to bodywork, 1
to wheels and plastic trim. 9.00-19.30!!
About 2.5 hours left today for a gloss coating but it's raining
so can't open the garage door or start
Soooo, weights first.
Deadlift session 1.
Bench. After researching a little, I think I'm tricep dominant.
Add in the long arms and thin chest I decided my grip was too
narrow. Looking to adjust over time to about 1.75 X my shoulder
width. This session I moved out about 2 finger widths.
Bench 3x5 at 81kg. Just hit the minimum number having increased
by 1kg from last session. Last rep was incredibly slow to lock
out. Might need to reset soon although the change of grip was
obviously going to hinder things. Definitely need safety bars in
place next time.
BORS, Dips and preacher curls tagged on. Decided to lower limb
isolation moves to 2 sets rather than 3 as they are done 3 times
a week.
Deads.
Haven't deadlifted for about 6 years. Rack pulled for a couple
of weeks 6 months ago and TBDL around 3-4 years back.
No idea what to expect. This is just a 1xAPRAP with 5 needed to
progress or reset.
60x5 felt good
90x5 felt ok, now to pick a work set. I'm not going to lie, I
tried to remember what Brett rack pulled last time out lol.
130 sounded doable. Managed 7 before my grip gave out. Back and
hams were fine. Good news is that both hands gave out and not
just my wanky injured one so I'm happy that won't hold me back.
Obviously deads last after the other exercises doesn't make
things optimal but I need to do them last or I won't complete
the session.
All I, I'm happy. Now to get back to the car ....

Thanks DV
BMW X4 M40i. It's a bit bigger than cars that I originally was
looking at but the 6 cylinder 3litre turbo sounds awesome in a
world where EU laws have dumbed them down so much. 0-60 in 4.8
seconds which is quick enough but the real world acceleration
from like 30-60 is crazy.

That sounds like a lot of fun to drive.... I had to
intentionally get bigger and slightly slower cars as I just
cannot trust myself. I should certainly hope 4.8sec is quick
enough.... it's not that long ago that sort of acceleration was
just for supercars

You’ll be happy to know you blew my rack pull out of the water.
I’m playing the cripple card though. ;D
Nice work.

4.8 Seconds, that's a good contender against some motorbikes.
My old workhorse would do about that and it felt fast as at the
time.

Squats session 3.
No squats.....
Since my accident my knees haven't been right. They kind of
seeze up if I sit with legs straight or bent in the same
position for 5 minutes or longer. After this it's very painful
going up or down stairs.
Over the last 6 months I tried squats twice a week but couldn't
keep it up due to pain for days after. Once a week seemed just
about doable. The pain is slightly different to the problem
above. This time it feels like they are hyperextending going
backwards on themselves or are going to pop out and dislocate to
the outer side.
Probably shouldn't have picked a routine that squats twice and
DLs once each week for low reps.
Headed into today thinking I will squat for reps but that was no
go. I decided to order some 7mm Rehband knee sleeves. I will
rest the knees until they come, and see if they help with the
frequency. If squatting low rep twice weekly is too much I will
alternative low and higher rep sessions.
OHP 52kg X 5 X 5 X 7. 1kg increase here so progress.
Weighted pull-ups 31kg X 5 X 5 X 6. Another 1kg added
Flat bench for reps, BB curls and Rope tricep pull downs tagged
on.
Garage was stinking hot. 30° at 5pm still.
No time to go into too much detail but I'm coming to the end of
some extra work I needed to do this last month with some family
land. Got another 2/3 weeks work on evenings and weekends. The
last 4 days I mucked out 280 wheelbarrows full of horse shite
and wheeled it 200yds to a manure pile I've created. 7 stables
down, 4 to go. All this extra work is obviously hampering gym
performance.

The trouble is bud, outside of the gym I have a pretty sedate
lifestyle so I've found it hard going.
Did 3 more hours this morning and that's me done for the
weekend.

What are your training goals? If you want to essentially be a
big squatter, puller etc then you have little choice but to do
those lifts. If your goals are more aesthetic or fitness related
then you can certainly explore other options than can achieve
the same thing
