FIRST EVER TOPIC - LOW SPERM COUNT, IVF, ICSI
By: NINJA Date: May 30, 2019, 4:52 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
right, as the very first topic on here relating to steroids i
have this:
i have been on and off gear for years and tbh if i'm honest
lately i've just been doing low dose TRT.
WE are trying for a baby however and my latest sperm count shows
a low sperm count and not that many of the little buggers are
swimming in a "making progress" kinda way. going round in
circles, dead in the water kinda action going on from half of
them
question - is it possible to up my sperm count while still TRT?
or
do i have to come off all test, do an epic pct and build from
there?
recommendations, drugs, dosages etc very gratefully received.
thanks guy's

Ninja,
I believe you don't have to come off TRT but would require a
shed load of HCG and maybe FSH as well which is expensive. The
other alternative is to go clean for a while.
The site below is a dedicated TRT site and will answer your
question.

I've a bit of experience in this area but probably at more of an
extreme stage than you are. The general public generally knows
that sperm count is of great importance for fertilisation but
what many don't know is that sperm mobility is just as
important. It may be the case that whatever you do, it just
won't happen as was my case. Going the NHS route is a laborious
process, mainly waiting, and even then if accepted, there will
be a limit on 'attempts' they will fund - usually between 1 and
3 depending on which NHS Trust you fall under.
We got frustrated eventually and went to a private clinic
(lovely place - like a stately home) in Bourn, Cambridgeshire -
a quaint, quintessentially English little village. They have a
very good success rate. We opted for the cheaper IUI (inter
uterine insemination) wherby sperm is obtained, the best ones
are selected, and are pipette style given a close encounter with
the cervix/uterus. From memory it was something like £1500 per
attempt including all the prep drugs required & ovulation scans
etc.
We now have 2 by this method. The first took 3 attempts, The
second only took 1 attempt.
IVF has a higher success rate as the egg is manually fertilised
in the lab then implanted, but this is quite a bit more costly,
perhaps £3500 per attempt.

I had low sperm and motility. Years of cycling, took 6 months to
get pregnant on 2 occasions over 24 months. First was
miscarriage and id gone back on after first conception.
Aromasin 20mg pd
Nolva 20mg eod
Clomid 50mg eod alternatively with above
Proviron 100mg pd
Hcg 4 weeks
Hmg 1 e3d for 10 vials.
After hmg finished upped Proviron up to 150mg pd

Thanks for the replies folks, both the information and the fact
that you've told your own stories is appreciated as tbh i'm not
sure i even want to tell other folk about this as all i'l get
are questions and not answers.
Seems odd asking about this as i used to advise people on using
clomid and hcg on the original muscletalk and i was hoping for a
better sperm score having done this. lol
that said i only took the clomid at 50mg ed and the hcg 500iu
eod for about a week prior to the original poor sperm count and
i kinda panicked when i got the poor results.
I now have another test booked for next monday which having had
longer on the protocol i'm hoping will be better. i'll let you
know the results.
One thing i failed to mention before is that i've had
chemotherapy twice and it's possible this is the main cause of
the poor sperm count
The NHS route as partyboy has noted takes about a year to get an
appointment and you only get 3 tries so we've also went to a
fertility clinic, which is where my next test will be carried
out. Even with the low sperm count and low mobility readings tho
there were still options which tbh was a total relief. So even
if i am unable to increase my sperm count and mobility scores
there is still hope and even going with the ICSI or IVF options
we can likely still have a family. The ICSI is stupidly
expensive in comparison with the IUI but people always say kids
are expensive lol.
BTW i've now changed my protocol to this since the original
post:
nolva 20mg ed morning
clomid 50mg ed morning
aromasin 20mg evening
proviron 50mg evening
cialis 7.5mg evening
hcg 500iu eod

Try to add some HMG, and remember that it takes 60-70 days for
sperm to mature, so you need at a very minimum this amount of
time before you can expect an improvement in count or motility
and more likely 100 days.

was back in the clinic yesterday for another cum in a cup
session. i'll get the results end of this week start of next.
also have a consultation next monday to discuss options, so will
let you guy's know what the outcome is. apparently having had
chemo twice i'm lucky to actually have any sperm at all but
because there are some there, if nothing else there are options.
From what i can gather drugs that increase your sperm count take
3 months to work, i've only been taking them for 6 weeks or so.
this is because evidently it takes the sperm 3 months to mature
to the point where they're actually fired out to go and populate
the world so maybe i should have waiting another couple of
months before going to the clinic.
only time will tell but i'll update the post as maybe sometime
in the future someone else will be in this position and be
looking for a bit of info and at least reading this thread
they'll know others on here who can advise (not me a the moment)
but partyboy and teapot.

I do know of what lad who was really competitive from a young
age, we all knew he was on pretty much all year round. I found
out years later that all three of his kids were conceived via
IVF. But his lifestyle always came as top priority. I've also
known others that had children naturally while on.
Would you ever look at coming off using HCG and PCT and then
having a sperm count done?
Good luck with this.
