Fitness Tackers / Smartwatches

Does anyone use these? If so, which do you use?
My Apple days are long gone, but I am intrigued a little by the
Watch/iPhone combination.
For now, I am using a Ticwatch E (Android Wear) and Google Fit,
but since I am a Samsung Phone user, I am considering dumping
the Ticwatch for Gear Fit 2 or something.
Never thought I'd ever be reeled in by such gimmickery, but now
I am more worried about health than lifts, I like to keep a
check on what I am burning and eating, handy for the cycling
too.

They are notoriously inaccurate. It's fine for helping to keep
you reminded and accountable I guess but I've seen very little
positive about truth of the numbers given. And the sleep monitor
just makes you even more anxious, my worst night's sleeps are
always when I have my smart watch on and it gets in my head that
I'm being monitored

Oh I agree, I don't consider the "steps" or "calories" to
represent anything real, I just find they are a useful guage on
overall activity. Sounds silly as you'd expect to know when you
have had a lazy week or a busy week, but I have found this not
to be the case! I can feel like I have had a busy few days,
then look on the log and see that most of this "activity" was
sat in the car, and vice versa.
Logging my cycling is also helpful and interesting too.
I think it's a psychological game really, after far too long
slacking off, my new lifestyle is all about keeping active, not
in the extreme sense, I mean just making an effort not to be
sedentry, and having this log to look at gives me a heads up as
to where I am slacking off before I realise autonomously.
While I wouldn't personally rely on such estimations to
structure my diet around, I do think there is potential for
these gadgets to help folks that are a million miles away from
eating healthy amount, to get much closer to where they should
be, Samsung Health for example includes food tracking, and it
seems pretty good. I do wonder if such software could evolve
over time to be really useful?
