Peak Week
Squats
20 x 8
60 x 5
100 x 3
120 x 2
140 x 1
160 x 1
175 x 1
Deadlift
20 x 8
70 x 5
120 x 3
160 x 1
180 x 1
200 x 1
Damn I needed that lift and got it! Reps very smooth and id say
this was a much better rep then my 175 hit late last year which
was a massive grind. Depth wise a better camera angle needed but
id hazard saying it was a tad high. Slow mo looks just in but
tbh theres slight doubt. In time with fully healed knee should
hit that tad more depth to leave no doubt. Must say confidence
wise was good to hit this and hit it smooth. This is a didf ftm
to my usual one and trained about 7pm ish which rarely do,
something aboit this gym always brings out a good squat in me.
Thank god!
Added some heavy deads for fun after and that was it. Session
main goal was squats.
Last bench session tomorrow...

Well done mate, I bet that was a hell of a relief. Your weight
jumps between sets looks to be improved as well. Don't sweat
the depth at this point, you've got plenty of time to work on
that in the next cycle. It is curious that you hit a 94%
deadlift in the same week as failing a max. If it was a true
max I wouldn't expect you to get anywhere near 94% so soon
after. This would seem to hold true with the previous
statements about being under recovered (or at least without the
benefit of super-compensation) for your attempt earlier in the
week. Basically you have more in the tank.

Massive relief - didn't want tis peak week to be a total
blowout! I was very happy with how smooth rep went compared to
last year when it twice looked like I was going to fail. If was
off the cuff dead as well as if I was following plan would of
been banded deads but as last week wanted to go heavy again for
a single, moved very well. Id like to think more in the tank. I
just need to hit that 'switch' more on dead PB attemts, get
aggressive, set up well and lift - no distractions or worries.

PEAK WEEK - Last session
Dead Bench
20 x 8
40 x 5
60 x 3
80 x 3
100 x 1
120 x F
110 x 2 PB Weight & reps
Slingshot Bench
100 x 3
100 x 1
DB Bench
20 x 20
20 x 20
20 x 20
DB Incline Fly
14 x 12
16 x 12
18 x 12
DB Hammer Curl
20 x 24
24 x 24
24 x 24
Was half tempted to try flat bench 107.5 attempt but after
speaking to Ox decided to go with dead bench as per plan.
Originally the dead bench 102 attempt was meant to of happened a
week or so ago but couldn't fit the session in. This is purely a
fun session to end the week so whatever happened I was cool
with.
The dead bench moved fine as usual until the 120. Wow got it
about a cm off the bars and that was it, shoulder massively
tightened as well and that hampered me rest of session. We know
this is a weak point for me off the chest so will be worked on.
Rested and hit a 110 dead bench for a double. A single rep would
of been a PB so happy with this, Without the 120 attempt I think
I would of got a good 5 reps minimum. On Slingshot shoulders
were too tight and I was worried about pulling something so
decided to stop there. Rest of session shoulders were tight but
easier then slingshot attempt.
Body feels battered now and im well ready for a week off in the
sun with the family. Rest will ne well needed as 24th will be
first day back in the gym and new programme to peak me up to
next comp.

Certainly earned the downtime next week after the week you've
had. Good to finish on a PB too

Im back!
Lovely week off in Antigua with the wife and little one. Nothing
more strenuous then a swim in the sea or pool and a gentle walk
to the bar other side of the resort (3 min) to get a beer in the
shade while the little one was napping. Loads of lovely food,
chillout and beer. I was actually getting sick of the buffet
breakfast after 3 days and reverted back to porridge and a small
cooked breakfast.
Couple jellyfish stings but tbh they were not to bad, just felt
hot and only lasted a couple hours - just washed the area in
seawater and back in for another swim/snorkel.
Didnt sleep on both plane journeys - never sleep on planes just
cant switch off so catching up on sleep and knackered but gym
awaits.
6 weeks until next intended comp 4th August - awaiting entry
form so I can get my place secured. Short 6 week peaking plan
starts today.
Squat
20 x 8
60 x 5
100 x 3
110 x 3
122.5 x 3
135 x 3
AMRAP Set - 110 x 10
Speed Banded Deadlift
60 x 5
100 x 3
120 x 2
120 x 2
120 x 2
120 x 2
120 x 2
120 x 2
120 x 2
120 x 2
Incline Leg Press
80 x 20
80 x 20
80 x 20
Hammer Cable Row
33 x 12
40 x 12
54 x 12
Wide Grip Pulldown
33 x 15
40 x 15
47 x 15
Tough getting back in it today and knees felt extra crunchy on
1st few reps although got better as session went on - tbh ive
done no rehab or anything strenuous so expected that. Reps were
fine and met what was required, AMRAP set had a couple more
there but form was starting to break down so good point to stop.
Fun end to session with the accessory work and glad back in gym
now. Sweat was pouring off me - all the beer ive consumed last
week coming out!
Bench tomorrow.
Will catch up on journals in week chaps
