Don't sweat it mate, that was a great session. Sounds to me if
you had a stronger brace you would have got that rep.
I've checked out the video now and I retract my statement about
the brace, it was too low for that. Obviously your coach is
king but it looks to me like you would benefit from pointing
your toes out a bit (or heels in if you prefer). It would
reduce the moment arm at your lower back as your shins would not
protrude as far (probably about an half an inch to an inch).
Gotcha mate. He reads my journal anyway and ill let him know of
form suggestions so ill he if he wants me to change anything.

PEAK WEEK
Bench
20 x 8
40 x 5
60 x 5
80 x 1
95 x 1
107.5 x F
100 x 1
Floor Press - 100 PB weight
100 x 2
100 x 2
100 x 1
Seated Smith OH Press
+25 x 5
+30 x 5
+40 x 5
Flat DB Flys
16 x 10
20 x 10
24 x 10 PB weight & reps
EZ Tricep Extension
26.25 x 10
28.75 x 10
28.75 x 10
Rope Pressdown/Split
16.25 x 20
16.25 x 20
16.25 x 20
F*ck sake not again. The 95 bench moved like a speed rep, but on
reflection I rushed setup on the PB attempt and wasnt tight
enough on bench/lats not tight enough either. I got stuck at a
sticking point and gave it my all but couldnt get past it. I
decided to load 100 and got for a single to end on a slightly
positive note. Im not far off 107.5 and confident ill getr that
on comp day. Just frustrating though 2 fails thsi week, need to
get head back in the game for squats.
Vids on IG
Rest of session upped weights as wanted to smash rest of session
- pb weights on floor press, OH smith press & DB fly. Not much
of a consolation tbh but progress is progress. Now to get in
squat mindset...

Ah man that sucks. From what I've seen of your other vids (no
seen this one yet), you are not far away from that at all and
will get that on the day. On a positive note it sounds like
you've learned something from the experience so while it might
be a cruel lesson it's better to learn it now. I'm with DV that
missing training lifts is generally not good but I think this is
the exception. going for anew 1RM can be a skill on its own.
Some people do all sort of weird shit that they don't do for
regular sets. I get that it's good to be pumped up (and you
will certainly be pumped on the day) but pre-lift rituals are
invaluable. They can save you from yourself when emotions are
going nuts. Practice your ritual on every set, it will take
care of you when it's time for the new 1RM.

Im angry I didn't get it - it was there and bench work in lead
up showed it. The plan was to peak this week so me and Ox can
get targets for comp and also next traioning block to reflect
this. Im normally a stickler for set up routine on all 3 lifts -
just something about a PB attempt that can me. I think asking
people to film me puts pressure on and makes me rush and skew
setup. Wont happen again - ill just setup myself if I want to
film attempt.

bad luck mate, you know youv'e got these numbers in you.
its very tough to give you advice because we all feel like were
stepping on ox's toes. hes your coach and you need to listen to
him but imo , i do not think that you've actually peaked yet.
if you look at your training log, before your deload, you were
hitting working sets but then still canning the accessories, 4
accessory exercises on deadlift day, 5 on bench day.. 15 sets of
bodybuilding volume! then on your deload, you dropped the weight
but you were still hitting multiple bodybuilding sets.
in order to peak, you need to keep a high skill while dropping
the fatigue.. i dont think youve dropped the fatigue . youre
doing too much.. you have to think of total cumulative volume
over a block and drop almost all of it before peaking.

Understandable mate. In all honesty this is something I
struggle with as well. On many occasion I've started to do
something completely new, wtf, that's just going to ruin my
chances. I'm absolutely confident, you'll hit 107.5, if
strength was an issue today then it must be the smallest of
margins. Personally I think it's there already, just other
factors influencing you today.

This would go in hand with my IG question about the possibility
of insufficient recovery for ME lifting

Sucks mate. Hopefully it comes better with squats.
As for the vid can't you just set it up somewhere and leave it
recording through your entire warmup rather than worry about
that?

Ill always listen to advice mate and feed back to Ox although we
communicate daily so he is aware of every training session. The
squat stance that nailz suggested seems to be working well and
adipowers will come into play in comp peak(thanks DV) so i do
take suggestions on board
We are including accessories on my next plan but will moniter
them closely with regards to performance and how my sessions
going if we need to reduce or drop etc
Im a deload novice tbh and apart from telling ox the main weight
percentage i was woeking at i just dropped weighr for the
accessories so was more my guesswork, something i should of
asked ox in hindsight.
