Well that's what I was kind of hoping.
Not sure if anyone saw, but Nigepoo commented on James Facebook
post about MT. Apparently he is no longer belong to the Keto
cult, but now follows some other cult Lyle McDonald has set up.
He posted a video by a Doctor about how awful Keto is for T2D,
and that with the reduced insulin, a inhibition of Nitric Oxide
follows, which leads ultimately to Cardiovascular Disease.
To be honest this is the first real argument against Keto for
Diabetes that I have seen, some of the less convincing ones
have been hilarious, I even saw a legit "expert" claiming that
the Cortisol release caused by watching other people eat Carbs
would be significantly damaging ;D
... So now I am not sure what to think... my plan was a bit
ambitious, I was convinced that I could drop weight quick enough
to all but reverse my Diabetes in 3 months, at a push 6 (I have
done this before, way back when I began training) ..and then,
at that point I would come off Keto, onto a more conventional
lower carb approach, but to be honest I have been enjoying the
Keto food so much, I was thinking of staying on it pretty much
permanently.
Nutrition has really never been my forte. my general rules have
always been -
High Protein.
To add weight +Carbs, to reduce weight -Carbs
Fats to make up the numbers.
I suppose I'd better learn. But its hard, for every Keto
proponent out there with convincing credentials, there is a Raw
Vegan proponent with equally impressive credentials, swearing
by the complete opposite.
When all that was at stake was gaining a bit of muscle or
strength (or not), it wasn't so daunting, but when your mid term
health is at risk, it all becomes a bit of a headache,
especially as there is no real way to hedge your bets.

Have you tried fasting drz? It’s a damn easy when you’re fat
adapted, and it just makes sense to me that that is the way our
bodies are designed to be.. feasting and famine. Also movement,
we need to move a lot more. We were designed to hunt, tracking
an animal all day, with no “lunch breaks”.. sometimes for days
on end before being able to feast.. then repeat.
I just can’t see that the human body is designed to eat 500g of
carbs a day. Maybe 50-100 from the odd root and tuber and
berries.
Carrying large amounts of muscle is not a natural thing, to that
we need to do unnatural things.. like eat out body weight in
post workout coco pops !

I actually do chuck in a bit of IF, just the standard 16:8
thing. with the logic being the fewer feeding times, the less BS
Spikes ... again like the Keto, the IF simply fits me really
well, still 6 weeks in and the Metformin I am taking can make
me feel a little nauseous at times, so a lot of the time I just
don't want to eat first thing either.
Its quite funny listening to most peoples reasoning for why Keto
is not sustainable, they usually come down to "Well, you can't
eat carbs, can you" as if there is some essential need to eat
Bread or Pasta. With the addition of Shiritaki Noodles and
rice, and various Bread concoctions made out of Almond flour and
Whey Isolate, Even recipies for low carb Chocolate ... and mug
cakes too! I really can't see any reason to miss eating carbs
at this point.

Here’s a legit Dr to read up on Z. Tim Noakes out if SA. He was
a long distance runner, lived the standard real healthy
lifestyle, boom became diabetic. Now a proponent of banting
(keto) and has been hauled through the courts for recommending
it.
He wrote books on carb loading, the lot and has been man enough
to admit he had it wring all them years.

If you’re anything like me Dr Z this will be consuming you and
you’ll be eager to search out answers so heres some low fat high
carb names for you.
Dr Shawn Baker (podcasts)
Dr Tim Noakes (various)
Vinnie Tortorich (podcast) and he will usually respond to you on
twitter if you ask him something.
Mark Bell and Chris Bell (various)
Robb Wolf (various)
And the one that turned me to it Mark Sissons, too many outlets
to list. I heard him on the The Joe Rogan podcast and haven’t
looked back since. Look up the podcast, its likely on youtube.

Thanks, I am pretty sure this guy featured in a documentary, one
of many that I watched during the first few days after my
diagnosis. I will have a closer look at his stuff. [emoji106]

Thanks again mate.
Absolutely it is. My primary focus is currently learning to
Control this disease.
I am actually very alarmed at how blase and passive many of my
friends with this condition are, I mean, I have never really
been a science guy, but I have no choice but to get my head
around this now.
I know people that think they are controlling it by only having
one chocolate bar a week, switching to light beers and having
extra salad on their Kebab, Sure, I've joked about my shit diet
and even my weight before, but what these people don't realise
is that not getting their heads around this, and making some
drastic changes isn't going to make them "a bit ill" ... they
are going to lose legs!! (one lost his lower leg 2 years ago!)
and go blind!!
Yet this very evening I have just read one of my diabetic
friends is "off out on the lash" again tonight, When I tried to
say "Hey, you know you can't do this mate" he accused me of
being dramatic and said "its only once in a while" ... No, it's
pretty much every other week. [emoji20]
It makes me so angry because there are plenty of diseases where
you don't get the option to help yourself, you just wait to
die, or for your quality of life to degrade beyond recognition.

Actually I was diagnosed the Weds before the Easter weekend, so
with all the kids around there was a lot of temptation around, I
got given a bar of Lindt 90% stuff, which was pretty bitter, but
I found it worked well by just letting the tiniest bit melt in
my mouth, this would kill any temptation for Chocolate stone
dead (not that I normally crave it, but when there is loads
about)
I even found a recipe online for the wife, who is also eating
Keto out of solidarity :) ...where you essentially make a whole
bar of normal chocolate from a couple of squares of this stuff,
plus Double Cream, Butter and Sweetener (another minefield on
Keto!, or for Diabetics at least)
Since then I have discovered some 100% Cocoa Solids stuff, I
swear it gets you high!
The thing is though, I can take it or leave it. so not a huge
issue.
My one Kryptonite is a fully fledged Indian Take Away. If you
put one in front of me now, despite not even having had the
slightest wobble up till now, I honestly don't think I could
resist it. ...and I know you can get recipes, and the odd dish
at an Indian is Keto friendly (some cheese thing I think?)
..But it will never be the same as a Lamb Madras, Bombay Spuds &
Keema Nan from my local [emoji25]

Professor Tim Noakes did what most scientists refuse to do.
Change his position on a topic.
