The future of banking, and I have no doubt this would eventually
be the case. No-one should trust anything they do

The aim is untimate control of subjects (Joe Public).
Achieved over many years from privacy erosion 'creep'. The creep
effect is so gradual that there is relatively little resistance
from the almost invisible creep. Almost always the creep of
erosions is fed through mainstream media as 'good for security
and safety', and onthe face of it usually is, but quite often
just a smokescreen for the ultimate aim.
Digital currency is the next thing that will be forced upon us -
it will be gradual as always, but the ultimate aim is to have
complete financial information & total ultimate control eg
       wealth confiscations

Cryptocurrency first needs to be regulated and recognised as a
currency first, without the backing of the financial industry it
has little future in the big wide world. I would be nervous if
investing within it, especially with the number of hacks going
       on.

This is exactly the reason it will never work , for a Cryto to
actually work it needs to be free from any regulation ,
otherwise we are back to the same banking /fractional
reserve/usury scam ( which is legalised through regulation)
a crypto backed by gold work work .
I would be less nervous putting money into cryptos than the
pound , the later has lost 99% of its value. my savings are in
       gold.

I agree, without regulation it will never be allowed to go
mainstream, as it would be out of their control. That's
precisely why Bitcoin or any of the other present cryptos will
ultimately fail. The powers that be and central bankers want
total adoption over many years (the creep) of THEIR digital
currency. That way it is out of our (the end user) control.

Crypto is free from regulation, bitcoin could dissapear
tomorrow, there is no stock value. The dollar itself has not
been supported by Gold for a long time, but rather it is backed
by the credit the USA. If Crypto was controlled by a state or
institution then we wouldn't be wasting all these megawatts in
       mining the stupid things.

Yes we waste megawatts mining them and there is no intrinsic
value , but at least there is a sense of work done or /problem
solved , just regulating it and giving a central bank the rights
to issue them infinitum is no different from standard currency .
The idea of a crypto was a decentralised currency , if you
regulate or centralise it you've just killed its USP, what your
arguing for indirectly is getting rid of bitcoin and staying
with the status quo. since the dollar has not been supported by
gold its lost over 90% of its purchasing power , this is why
gold is popular and crytpos have been invented as they dont want
central banks having the sole power of issuing currency.
To be honest though , I think BTC is probably a government
backed stealthy way of promoting a cashless society , push it
out as an oppostion , let all the cool kids promote it and adopt
it then regulate it and you're almost there, ill stick with
       gold!
