A complaint about grab bars

Grab bars can save a person from falling. I love grab bars. In
fact, my bathroom has two in the shower plus two more near the
toilet.
I have one problem with grab bars, though. The grab bars
installed in bathtubs/showers shouldn't be so slippery. Couldn't
they be designed with a rough or pebbly surface, maybe just in
segments along the bar, so that a person with soapy hands can
get some traction?
Someone taking a shower is apt to have soapy hands. Yes, the
person should rinse them off carefully before even taking hold
of the grab bar. But the person still has wet hands, and they
can be slippery too.
It can be quite a surprise when your hand just slips around on
the grab bar at just the time when you were counting on that
grab bar to help you.
One possible solution is always to keep a wet washcloth that is
textured (terrycloth, for instance) folded over any grab bar
that you are apt to want to use while in the shower.
But it would be easier if whoever designed grab bars had thought
about this problem....
