I am often the only person there at many places where I've been
checking in on the Internet, sometimes for decades. As we get
older, people start disappearing from our lives, but I would
have expected Internet message boards to continue.
They often haven't. I've watched several of them close down
completely. Others are places where there are almost no people
any more. People have moved on to more exciting activities
online.
I haven't moved with them. Posting photos of a meal I'm eating
somewhere goes only so far as something novel and diverting. I
can't find much amusement in tinkering with photos so as to put
costumes on cats and dogs either.
I'm here. Even if nobody else visits, I find this place has
information I find useful.
