Study links sleep medications, insomnia to disability in seniors

It may seem as if I focus too much on older people's problems
with these posts. However, people with MS are living on into old
age these days, and coping with aging seems to be far more of a
challenge if you also have MS. On the other hand, if you
developed MS when you were younger and have been affected by it
to the point where you are disabled, you may find that you
already know a thing or two about the needs of older people,
just from having to adjust to MS.
For aging people, less medicine is probably always better. If
you can cut down safely on any meds you're taking as you get
older, it's probably wise to do that. Aspirin in particular has
its hazards for older people but there are many other
drugs--most notably, any that affect the nervous system, such as
sedatives.
