I have been taking part in the NARCOMS* periodic surveys since
they began. The latest survey included an announcement of a new
genetic study that is optional for NARCOMS participants. It
involves providing a saliva sample.
This is the FAQ about it:

This is the e-mail I received from NARCOMS:

> We are reaching out to share an exciting opportunity
that can significantly enhance our understanding of multiple
sclerosis (MS) and potentially lead to better treatments and
interventions in the future.
> The NARCOMS Registry has always thrived on the
invaluable contributions of participants like you. Today, we are
inviting you to participate in a groundbreaking genetics study
that seeks to delve deeper into the genetic factors underlying
MS.
> All we need from you is a small saliva sample. This DNA
sample will be a vital component of our research as we aim to
identify genetic markers, patterns, and potential risk factors
associated with MS. By doing this, we hope to open new avenues
for treatment and management of the disease.
> By contributing to this study, you're not only helping
us understand the genetic underpinnings of MS better, but you're
also playing a crucial role in paving the way for improved
treatment options, better diagnosis methods, and possibly even
preventive measures for future generations.
> If you're ready to be part of this significant
endeavor or would like to speak to a representative, please
email mailto:msregistry@narcoms.org or call us at 214-648-4583.
