       J. D. Vance may prefer living in an unreal world

       The Republican Vice Presidential nominee, J. D. Vance, not
       content with just telling lies and hoping they won't be
       fact-checked, has decided that lies are necessary sometimes and
       doesn't mind defending them.
       It is to be hoped that the US electorate will see the extreme
       danger here. There can be no rational society, no just legal
       system, no government, unless everyone agrees that the truth is
       the bedrock of human discourse.
       “If I have to create stories so that the American media actually
       pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then
       that’s what I’m gonna do,” he told CNN’s Dana Bash, “because you
       guys are completely letting Kamala Harris coast.”
