       Senate bill to expand Medicare dental benefits

       Every time I am at the dentist's, as I was today, I'm reminded
       of what it was like to be unable to afford dental care and too
       busy to get to a dentist.  I'd had twinges of pain in a tooth
       but they always went away. I ignored them for a year but finally
       got to a dentist. I was in for the worst root canal experience
       I've ever had because an abscess had got going. The endodontist
       said it would have been good if I'd come in a year before.
       I was advised to get a crown on the tooth after the root canal,
       which involved two uncomfortable sessions. Eventually I got the
       crown but it may have been too late. Later I lost that tooth.
       I'm very lucky now because I no longer pay dental insurance
       premiums. The Medicare Advantage plan offers some dental
       coverage, and that is helpful--though, as the article below
       points out, it is limited.
