       (JAMA) The case of the disappearing thank yous

       Years ago a message board I belong to had a "Thanks" button
       included in every post. Anyone reading the post could "thank"
       the poster by pressing that button. People found it useful as a
       way of at least letting the poster know they had read and
       appreciated the post. But then it was taken away. There was
       quite a hue and cry about the disappearing "Thanks" button but
       it never returned.... The article below discusses something
       similar.
