       Fireworks injuries to eyes more common where fireworks are legal

       People in the two cities in the Pacific Northwest where I've
       lived just love fireworks. They start them long before July 4 or
       January 1 and they extend the celebrations often for days after
       these holidays. Law enforcement looks the other way.
       Many fireworks are very dangerous--aside from being so noisy
       that pets are often terrorized, and people who need sleep can't
       get any.
