Vitamin D toxicity?

One topic that comes up often in MS groups is the need for
vitamin D3 supplementation. Is it a good idea even if your
vitamin D level is in the normal range? Do people with MS
benefit by keeping their vitamin D levels high? And especially
this one: Is it possible to take in too much vitamin D?
Today my primary care doctor said it was time to check my
vitamin D level, and so that was done. Some years ago, when the
doctor (a different doctor at the time) suggested a vitamin D
supplement even though my vitamin D level wasn't low, she said
she'd like to get it as close to 80 as possible.
Today I scored 78. The test result included an interesting
list:
For persons over 18:
deficiency: <20ng/mL
insufficiencey: 20-29ng/mL
optimum level: 30-80ng/mL
high: 81-150ng/ML
toxic: >150ng/mL
So it looks as if a person's vitamin D level would need to be
mighty high to be considered toxic. I'm tempted to conclude
that vitamin D toxicity might be pretty rare.
