Physician assistants might become physician associates

Physician assistants (PAs) may eventually be called physician
associates but the change might not happen for 5 years. An
assistant sounds more subordinate than an associate to me, and
so the change may be a way of raising the status of PAs without
really raising it. The public will be more impressed, but the
responsibilities of the PA won't change.
