Two more incidents of tragic gun violence so far this weekend in
the US--from the New York Times (August 4):

Some will respond to these tragedies by calling for better
mental health care. But there is an elephant in the room that
they will be ignoring--the absurdly easy availability of guns in
       this country.
       Especially automatic weapons.
It's particularly alarming that so many guns are already out
there. They're in the hands of just about anyone who wants one.
It will be next to impossible to get them out of circulation.
But something can be done to curb the easy access to firearms
       that we now have.
And the plentiful hate-inspired rhetoric spewing forth from this
country's current President is fanning the flames.
