From My MSAA Today, the eNewsletter of the MS Association of
       America (July 2016):

       --- Quote ---
       > MSAA’s MRI Access Fund is Back (For Now)
       >
       > MSAA has temporarily reopened our longstanding and
highly-requested MRI Access Fund Program. Through recent support
from Teva Neuroscience, MSAA has been able to lift the program’s
six-month suspension and resume processing MRI requests for MS
diagnostic and follow-up exams until funds are exhausted.
       >
       > MSAA will only accept the updated 2016 MRI Access Fund
application, which requires the submission of documented income
and insurance information. As with before, applications will be
processed on a first-come, first-serve basis; no emergency
situations apply; and no reimbursements provided for previous
       MRIs.
       >
       > MSAA is extremely pleased to resume this critically important
service to the MS community while we continue to work on
securing additional grants and restoring the MRI Access Fund to
its full level of service. If you have any questions, please
       call (800) 532-7667

       --- Quote ---
       > As a result of recent funding approvals, MSAA is thrilled to
announce we have reinstated a critical coverage component to our
popular MRI Access Fund. Individuals with Medicare and private
health insurance who cannot meet their co-insurance balance are
now eligible to apply for funding assistance for a cranial
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam through the program.
       >
       > The MSAA MRI Access Fund assists individuals who are uninsured
or under insured acquire a cranial MRI to help determine a
diagnosis of multiple sclerosis or evaluate current MS disease
progression. The MRI Access Fund helps qualified applicants in
       two ways:
       >
       > ~For people with no health insurance or a high unmet insurance
deductible, the Fund will pay for an MRI through one of MSAA’s
       contracted imaging centers
       >
       > ~For individuals who cannot meet their MRI co-insurance
balance, the program will cover the remaining cost, up to a
       specified maximum amount
       >
       > Applicants must meet certain eligibility guidelines, complete
the updated 2017 application and have not received an
MSAA-funded MRI within the past 24 months. Also, MSAA does not
reimburse for MRIs outside of this program. To learn more and
apply, please visit the the MRI Access Fund

This sounds like a very important and valuable resource. Many
people are unable to get needed MRIs because there is no way to
pay for them. The MSAA is offering this assistance for them.

From the MSAA Newsletter, November 1, 2017:
This expansion of the MRI Access Fund, to make MRIs affordable
for qualified individuals by now including two MRIs (brain and
cervical spine) per application, should come as very good news
to anyone unable to afford MRIs but in need of them.

       >
       > To help meet the escalating demand for MRI assistance, MSAA is
pleased to announce new program changes to the MRI Access Fund,
which will increase our ability to serve more clients than ever
before. Qualified clients can now receive two MRI scans (brain
and c-spine) per application as well as reimbursement support
       for previous MRI scans.
       >
       > Under the reimbursement option, applicants must still apply to
the MRI Access Fund, provide required documentation and meet
income eligibility requirements. For qualified clients who have
had a cranial and/or c-spine MRI with a date of service from
July 1, 2017 to present, MSAA will pay the remaining costs up to
a maximum of $600 per MRI. MSAA will pay the billing facility
directly. We will not reimburse individual clients. Also, please
know the 24-month wait period to reapply for MRI assistance is
still in effect. To learn more and apply, please visit the MRI

       MSAA expands MRI Access Fund
   DIR By: agate
       Date: June 19, 2018, 11:31 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America has expanded its
funds for providing MRIs at no cost for those qualified persons
who can't afford them--from Multiple Sclerosis News Today (June
       18, 2018):
  HTML https://multiplesclerosisnewstoday.com/2018/06/18/msaa-access-fund-for-mri-scans-expanded-to-meet-growing-multiple-sclerosis-community-demand/?utm_source=Multiple+Sclerosis&utm_campaign=fc8151075c-RSS_US_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5fb7a3dae-fc8151075c-71286581
Note: The article states that "most doctors" now recommend
"followup MRIs every year for MS patients." There are actually
many doctors who don't recommend such frequent MRIs.
