In 2007, Microsoft Office has replaced the standard menu and
toolbar with a ribbon, a collection of tabs with links and
icons. Although most users have made their peace with the
ribbon, many have not. Only a handful of other software
companies have switched to ribbons, and, five years later, at
least one company offers software to convert MSO to standard
menus and toolbars at $38 per box.
By contrast, LibreOffice / OpenOffice.org have experimented with
ribbons in pilot projects, but officially retain the classic
look. Although nobody has shown that either the standard or
ribbon layout is superior to the other, the standard layout does
have the advantage of being easier to read, and of allowing
users to discover functionality more easily. Being less
compressed, the standard layout is also easier to read for those
       with limited close-up vision

1.LibreOffice performs remarkably well. The key differences
between Microsoft Office and LibreOffice are the user interface
       and quality of the services.
2.When it comes to pricing, LibreOffice is free. By offering an
array of word processing features, it is nearly comparable to
       premium software.
3.When it comes to quality, Microsoft Office has a good quality
than Libre Office. Microsoft Office provides enhanced features
       that LibreOffice lack.

The first thing that needs to be mentioned is the fact that
there is a single LibreOffice codebase on all the platforms,
including Linux, Mac OS, Windows, FreeBSD, and NetBSD. The
Microsoft Office package is different from one platform to
another, which can create some problems.
On the other hand, one of the important features present in the
Microsoft Office Suite is the native support for PDF files, but
LibreOffice only has limited functionality in Draw and Writer.
Also, LibreOffice is not meant to work on touchscreens, at least
not yet. The suite from Microsoft has full touch support. This
feature does not extend to PDF export, where LibreOffice clearly
       provides more options.
As expected, LibreOffice comes with full ODF (open document
format), but Microsoft Office only supports ODF on the Windows
platforms. The other platforms like Mac OS X, for example, can't
       handle ODF.
It's also worth noting that Microsoft Office has an online
version of the suite, but LibreOffice does not. It's still under
development, and there is no telling when that is going to
       happen.

LibreOffice is a desktop office suite for Windows, Macintosh,
and most versions of Linux that combines a word processor,
spreadsheet program, presentation program, drawing program, math
program, and a database program. It competes with Microsoft
Office in most every way except one: price. LibreOffice is
available FREE of charge. There is no “pro version” or upgrade
to any other available versions. There is only one version, and
all features are available free of charge in that version.
Indeed, “Libre” is the Spanish word for free.
Documents created with LibreOffice are also about 99.9%
compatible with documents created by Microsoft Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint. It even handles the dreaded .DOCX and .XLSX formats
       without a problem.
I have both Microsoft Word and LibreOffice Writer Document
installed on the Macintosh I am using at the moment. I normally
use LibreOffice instead of Word simply because it is faster and
is easier to use. It also has almost all the same functionality
as Microsoft Word although you can find a few minor exceptions.
Those few exceptions all seem to be for things I never use.

LibreOffice performs remarkably well. The key differences
between Microsoft Office and LibreOffice are the user interface
       and quality of the services.
       * User Interface and Graphics
The user interface is more captivating and less cluttered. The
ribbon UI in Microsoft office makes it easier to navigate
through the features. On the other hand, LibreOffice’s
appearance is more archaic and resembles that of older office
suites such as Microsoft Office 2003 and older.
       *Quality and Accuracy:
LibreOffice also lags behind in the quality of the service. For
example, LibreOffice Writer’s default grammar checking tool
lacks accuracy and often misses syntactical errors.Microsoft
Office detects the error However, LibreOffice fails to do so.
       *LibreOffice Writer (Text Document):
This is the word processor application for LibreOffice. It is
similar to programs such as Microsoft Word, AbiWord, Jarte Word
Processor, etc. Writer allows you to create anything from
letters to complex documents with embedded illustrations and
bibliographies. Auto spell checking and auto completion make
       word processing much more convenient.
Unlike Microsoft Word, Writer mostly detects spelling errors and
fails to detect syntactical errors. Fortunately, you can get
around this issue by using an extension known as Language Tool.
