       A Christmas Story
       By: bob123f Date: January 26, 2013, 11:56 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Twas but late December when I was scarred for life. Scarred both
physically and mentally. No one ever believed me, of course. I
barely believed myself after the indecent. Oh, well, I'll tell
       it to you.
I was just a little boy when my family decided to take a trip to
my wretched aunt Maggie's for the holidays. I, of course, put up
several acts of discomfort on this decision, for I did not like
to see the old crone known as Maggie that often. But,
eventually, I gave my consent, and we started on our long and
tedious journey. It was 200 miles to her below-standard abode as
I recall, and the drive was not in the least bit easy. We drove
and drove and drove, until suddenly I saw a bulky figure walking
in the snow. I couldn't be sure, but I could have sworn that the
       figure was a snowman.
The minutes passed like hours, and the hours passed like days,
and I was so tired that I eventually fell into a half-sleep. I
had visions of the snowman I saw on the road slowly walking
behind me, slowly catching up to me, slowly... I was altogether
terrified within my sleep and made noises of the most disturbing
sort within my seat. Finally, we reached the street in which
aunt Maggie's dwelling was, a street by the name of "Snowy Pines
       Rd."
We soon arrived, and carried our baggage inside hastily to avoid
the cold. Aunt Maggie greeted us all with delight, and she
forced some raisin cookies down my throat with much hardship, as
some sort of "I hope these kill you" welcome. A couple of hours
later, I was just about to go to bed when I heard a tapping at
the wall of the cottage. I ignored it, thinking it some sort of
branch or wind hitting the foundation. The tapping started to
grow louder, and it soon became altogether too loud for me to
successfully put myself to sleep. I then proceeded to race down
the stairs and ask if I could go outside to see what was causing
all the rapping. My father said "I will go with you, David. I
can assure you that I will stop it, whatever may be, so that you
can sleep." So we put on our stockings and boots and I slowly
opened the oak door. The wind then blew it open with much haste,
knocking the handle into one of Maggie's best pieces of china.
She then raced over to the spot of the fallen vase and mourned
over her loss. She then whispered into my ear "I think another
extra spoonful of canola oil tomorrow would do you some good,
boy." Me and my father quickly paced out the door, and spied
almost nothing because of the snowflakes falling. He and I went
over to the spot of the tapping and saw nothing there. "Stay
here for a minute, I have to get us better jackets." My father
rushed to the door and was gone. I slowly walked toward the
tapping area, and found nothing of the sort that could cause
such distress. Suddenly, I saw a figure in the distance. A
snowman. THE snowman. And it was walking towards me.
I stood still. My legs were like iron, glued to the earth and
stuck there with extra tape. I don't know why, but my legs
couldn't move me to were I wanted to go. It was almost as if the
snow had frozen my feet there. Frantically, I tried to get free
of the icy grip of the frost. I pulled and pulled, and the
figure was slowly getting closer. I banged my hands on the ice
until they were bleeding, and I had barely made a dent. I saw a
large stick nearby, and grabbed it to use as a tool to help me
escape. I banged and banged and banged, until finally, my left
leg was free. I kicked the ice on my right, and it slowly fell
off. I then ran. I ran like I was being chased by an angry bear
that would kill me if it caught me. I kept running until I
couldn't see the figure anymore. But as I walked back my feet
got caught in a crevice. I moaned and groaned with no hope of
escaping my icy fate, and the figure came within my sight again.
"YYYYAAAAAGHHH!!!" I screamed so loud that icicles fell around
me. The snowman was 10 yards away from me now, and closing in.
It's huge, bulky figure was of a shape that I had never seen
before. It was almost to me when it lashed out upon me and made
me scream so loud that my ears felt like they were bleeding. My
father, who had heard my distress, ran outside with a shotgun
and nailed it in the chest. It ran and disappeared within a
nearby forest. I was immediately taken to the hospital where I
discovered that it had left a foot-long gash on my stomach. The
doctors said I was attacked by a rogue bear, I know otherwise.
And sometimes, on late, bitter Decembers, I hear a tapping sound
on my wall. I haven't the guts to check the cause of it, though.
       FIN

Twas is a word Whtever, you just don't see it that often. :) If
you've ever heard, "Twas the night before Christmas and all
through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a
       mouse." ;)

Thanks, guys! This was my first long story. For some reason I
really wanted to write about a demonic snowman that stalked
little children in the night. Sort of like slenderman.
