Help for computer noob

I looked at this the other day, and was interested enough to
start an account.
Only problem is it would not download the game, Arc is installed
but when I attempted to download Neverwinter, ran the install
for a few mins then comes up with an error and no advice or
comment on what the error is.
I'm running Windows 8 on a laptop, which is not top spec, but
works fine for most applications.
Any ideas? I've not spent mucuh time checking for advice or help
myself yet, too busy being a pirate.

Tony is the one who is most likely to be able to answer this
question but, he is in Vienna. I am going to guess and say
Windows 8 is your problem. hehehe

Right click Arc Launcher
Go to Properties
Go to Compatibility
Select windows 7
Run as Administrator at the bottom
Click apply
NEXT
Make sure it is allowed through your firewall and your antivirus
and get back to me in game or here if it either works or doesnt

OK, it seems to be working. Patching now.
Is there a server selection, and if so, which should I pick to
be on same server as those of you that play in this game?
Is there a faction choice? Do you play good or evil, or no
factions?

Quite enjoying the simple point, click, kill, collect nature of
the tutorial levels. Have reached level 5 and started to get a
feel for the game. I can also see how potbs can seem so hard if
players are more used to this type of game that really guides
you through at least the begging stages, though isn't really
much choice in what you do so far.

Yeah, it's pretty simple but VERY addictive. Nice environments
and a very immersive game as a whole.
