Rather than copy and paste the usual massive history thread
Which can be found in places like this:
HTML http://www.pistonheads.com/Gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=47&t=1188569&mid=0&nmt=Land+Rover+Series+III+Rally+Car.+(Yes+really)

and the damper mount peg changed to take a 1,1/8" specific nut.
(So you take the damper lower off with the wheel brace)
3rd Rear damper mounted between welded up PTO hole behind the
overdrive and a 109" Series 3 rear damper mount welded on top of
the axle to create an anti-tramp damper.
Axles n stuff:

pegged diff.
Rear: Standard 88" Series 3 with weakened RH halfshaft by the
driveflange. But there's other bits in the garage.

Series II D suffix with Overdrive, longer gear and transfer box
levers with peg for yellow knob.

That tarmac stage was slippy! Too much oil and stuff leaching
out from previous Kart races.

Pic 1 How quick to lean on gravel.
Pic 2 Lots of lock on there, giving it 110% again.
