Sleep Hacking
By: A Date: June 27, 2014, 8:27 pm

I'm really interested in doing the sleep four hours per night
thing. I have a CES machine. I have a grounding mat. Are
there any other things you can think of?
It's not compatible with physical training, but I'm willing to
shift my training for awhile to accomodate.

Check this out (it's available for pre-order). Dave talked about
it in a recent podcast. There are also apps for your phone you
can use to monitor sleep and HRV. Check out Sleep Cycle.
I'm also interested in hacking sleep too (among other things). I
feel if I don't get 8 hours (and 9 now since I've started
crossfit) my following day rapidly falls apart. Feels like I've
always been that way - nothing I can do other than force myself
to run the motions and perform at 20%-50%.

Which CES machine did you get?

You're going to have to stop all serious training if you want to
do sleep-hacking. It's a decision I've chosen to make, but I
think you can do things like yoga. (Try some of those poses,
man. It's no fucking joke.)

I got that thing with the tDCS add-on. I told Nick to get one
and he said he was interested, but I'm not sure if he got it.

Damn that looks awesome. I'll add it to my repertoire once I
reap more benefits from recent additions (emWave2, etc)
Thought about getting an electrical muscle stimulation (EMS)
machine also... best thing I can find from the BP forum:

I've heard Dave briefly touch on these devices but haven't heard
him mention the brand he uses.

I just want to not rely on sleep so much... such that if I lose
2 hours my cognitive functions aren't sliced in half the next
day.

Binaural beats might help. Make sure you use the Delta or
Sub-Delta or you won't get any sleep, lol. Also, I think if
you're doing real training, you're going to have a hard time
with anything less than 7.5 hours (that's five cycles of the
sleep stages).

Oh yeah. I lie down and read on it every night before bed. It's
really good. No problems getting to sleep provided I've stopped
caffeine intake at a responsible time.
Not a fan of white noise or headphones/ear plugs. However, most
of my sleep interruptions are noise related (people shuffling
around for work in the early AM, etc).
