Hearing Giovanni, Vanessa couldn’t help smiling. He was cute,
and so sweet to her. It wasn’t exactly what she was used to, but
then, it had been about a year since Vanessa had been in a
relationship. Since she’d left her fiancé at the altar when she
learned he was cheating on her. With multiple women, three of
whom had been bridesmaids in the wedding. Since then, Vanessa
spent more time alone. It helped her not get hurt. So why was
she so certain about being with Giovanni? Vanessa smiled up at
Giovanni before she moved in to kiss him rather passionately.
After what felt like an eternity, Vanessa pulled away with a
small smile. “Then I guess I’m your girlfriend.” Vanessa said
with a smile as she thought about it.
Blushing as he kissed her hand, Vanessa couldn’t help giggling.
“Well, you’re making me quite happy.” Vanessa said with a smile
on her face. “I think that’s a good thing. We might stand a
chance at making this last.” Thinking about his question,
Vanessa smirked. “I’m not really picky with drinks. Anything
works.” Giggling as she thought about it, Vanessa smiled at
Giovanni.
“You know, there are… other ways, for us to celebrate together.
” Vanessa said with a lustful look at her boyfriend. Hoping he
would get her drift. It was weird, to be so trusting of a guy
she barely knew, but she liked him more with every passing
moment. Not to mention he was good, or at least he seemed like a
good man to Vanessa. She had to have faith that maybe he
wouldn’t ever hurt her.

Listening to Astrid, Dane couldn’t help smiling. He was smiling
so much that he thought his face might break. He’d never been so
happy. This woman felt like she was meant to be his. Like his
soul mate. The reality was, he had fallen hard for Astrid, quite
fast. Thinking about what she said about her drink choices, Dane
smiled. He had the feeling he knew exactly what she would like.
“No, you stay, enjoy the show. I’ll be back before you know it.”
Dane said with a smile as he leaned in to kiss her again.
After that, Dane sat up and moved to put his shoes back on. Once
that was done, Dane smiled, seeing Astrid coming closer with a
rather lustful look. Dane chuckled as he heard Astrid’s words,
raising an eyebrow at the girl. “If you’re sure, then later
tonight. For now, I’ll get us drinks.” While he did want her,
this was bad timing. Dane already had one surprise for Astrid
that they needed to check into.

Giovanni's grinned back at her. "So you are," He agreed. He
really couldn't get enough of this beautiful woman beside him.
Her blushes, giggling, her beautiful smiles.
"That's my goal, Bellissimo." He told her seriously.
He moved slightly and pulled her close to him thinking over her
words about them having a chance to making their relationship
work. "I think our odds are very good," He told her softly
running his hand through her soft black hair. "That's real
helpful," He teased her. "I'll get something good," he promised.
His eyes darkened at her suggestion and the lustful look in her
eyes. "Oh I know," he told her with a wink. "I can imagine some
of the things you might have going through your head right now,"
He told her in a deep sultry tone. "I've been thinking them
myself. However, that will have to be later. After drinks, and
the concert. I hate to leave your side even for a moment, but
those drinks can't deliver themselves." he teased as he rather
reluctantly pulled away from her to shove his feet into his
shoes and lace them up.
"I shall return soon," He told her kissing her again before
getting off the mattress and walked down the steps and out to
the drink stands. He stopped and turned to look at her with an
appreciative smile and winked at her before moving to place his
order to the man working the drink station.
A moment later he heard some familiar footsteps behind him and
turned to shoot a grin at Dane. He smirked wider when he saw the
happy look on his friend's face. "You seem happy for some
reason." He said grinning wider. "Let me guess, you and Astrid
are now a couple." He said with a knowing wink.
For a moment he thought of just keeping the news that he and
Vanessa were a couple to himself. Then he had to shake his head.
"Well you're not the only new couple, I asked Vanessa as well.
She said yes." He said giving his friend and partner a wide
grin. "If you want to give me hard time go ahead, I can take
it."
He took the drinks the bartender handed him and turned to go
back to Vanessa and noticed their friend in the band motioning
to him. He grinned and moved to nudge Dane with his shoulder.
"Hey, looks like they're ready for us to come to the back. Grab
your drinks I'll tell the girls to head this way." He said and
moved off to do so.

Astrid smiled at Dane's telling her to stay and enjoy the show.
He was such a thoughtful guy, she couldn't help but think.
"Okay," She said with a happy grin. "Just hurry back." She said
with a wink.
She sighed into his kiss and closed her eyes. She really could
not get enough of his kisses. She reclined back on the mattress
and watched as he sat up to put his shoes on. She wasn't sure
what he thought about her coming on so strong and so soon. Sure
they had slept curled around each other in the bed, but they
hadn't done much more than that and kiss just yet.
She wanted to show him just how much he turned her on. She
pouted slightly at his telling her that it would be later. "All
right," She agreed trying to not sound whiny about it. "You
should know that you turn me on a great deal." She told him
seriously. "I'll wait right here for you." She said with a smile
watching his every movement and bit on her bottom lip. "Don't
take too long."

Vanessa couldn't help smiling as Giovanni said that she was his
girlfriend. It was insane that she wanted to be the girlfriend
of a guy she barely knew, but Vanessa felt something really
special with Giovanni. Maybe this was something that was meant
to be, or she was just wanted to be happy with a man who could
make her happier than she'd ever known. She smiled up at
Giovanni as he admitted that he thought their odds were good.
Hopefully because they were both hunters, they could really make
a relationship last.
When Giovanni teased her, Vanessa giggled. "I like sweet drinks,
if that helps." Vanessa didn't mind Giovanni's teasing her, she
deserved it. Though really, it was obvious that the two of them
needed to learn a lot more about one another. But the problem
was that Vanessa had to wonder if Giovanni would still want to
be with her once he learned about all of her demons, failed
relationships, the things she often kept to herself. After all,
even Astrid, who she considered a best friend, didn't know some
of the things she lived with. Not that Vanessa regretted it at
all. Her choices had been in her best interest, even if it
didn't seem that way at first.
Hearing Giovanni, Vanessa couldn't help but frown. He was right,
she knew that, but still, she wanted him. After all, he was her
boyfriend now, and she wanted to be with him. Before long, he
was gone, leaving her lying in the bed they were sharing,
watching the concert happen. Their views were great, there was
no denying it. Honestly, though, Vanessa wouldn't mind just
hiding away in her tent with her new boyfriend. Especially with
the music playing, it felt perfect. For once, she wasn't unsure
about a relationship with someone, and maybe that would make all
the difference.

Hearing Astrid, Dane smiled down at her. "I'll be back soon." He
said with a smile before he thought about her next statements.
"You do the same to me, doll." Dane winked down at Astrid as he
caught her seeming sad he wouldn't celebrate with her the way
she wanted yet. Maybe the surprise would make up for it, but
Dane had to wonder when that would happen for them. He left the
tent and headed off to go get the drinks, thinking of Astrid
telling him not to take too long.
When Giovanni showed up behind him, and started speaking, Dane
couldn't help but chuckle. His best friend always knew what was
going on with him, even when he tried to hide things. But then,
Dane had no intention of hiding his relationship. "There's just
something about her. I can't help wanting to have her with me."
Dane said, thinking about it. Maybe it sounded stupid to
Giovanni, but Dane felt a real connection with Astrid, and he
didn't want to lose that.
When Giovanni told him that he had asked Vanessa, Dane's jaw
dropped. Gio already knew he was going to tease him, and somehow
was fine with it. "That Vanessa must be quite special for you to
get into a relationship. I thought you wouldn't get into a
relationship again, so clearly you're really into her." His
tease wasn't really a tease, Dane could admit he was happy that
Giovanni had found a woman who seemed so perfect for him.
Once he had their drinks in hand, Dane could hear Giovanni
saying that it looked like they were ready for them to go back,
so while Gio got the girls, Dane walked over to their friend and
waited. Goodness, he hoped that Astrid loved the surprise. It
occurred to Dane that he and Gio were going out of their way to
impress these two women. Of course, it had to mean that the
couples stood a real chance, right? Dane had never gone so far
out of his way to impress a woman, and he knew Gio hadn't
either. But these girls were special, possibly their soul mates,
even.

Astrid grinned back up at Dane when he told her he'd be back
soon. She giggled when he winked at her and reassured her that
she did the same thing to him. It was nice to know that he
wanted her in that way. It had been a long time since a guy had
actually said those words to her.
She laid there on the mattress thinking of just how Vanessa
might react to finding out that she and Dane were a couple. From
the way she had seen Gio looking at Vanessa lately, she had the
thought that her friend and the Italian man were getting rather
serious themselves. It made her happy for her friend. Vanessa
had gone through a lot of crazy relationships in her life not to
mention some very tragic things as well. She hoped that Gio
would be the kind of guy who could help her friend heal from all
those past tragedies and bad relationships she'd gone through.
She glanced up in surprise when both Gio and Vanessa came into
her tent and she smiled at them. What's going on?" She asked
eyeing them closely. Then she grinned wider noticing how Gio's
arm was wrapped around Vanessa's waist. "Ooh, did he ask you to
be his girlfriend? That's awesome Nessa!" Astrid exclaimed
jumping up to hug her friend. "Now then buster, if you hurt my
friend you'll have me to contend with. And I might look like
like a harmless nerd, but this harmless nerd can totally destroy
your credit report. Not to mention, I could totally get your
motorcycle impounded." She said shooting him a warning look.
"Indefinitely." She added with a smirk. "So make sure you don't
hurt her Mr. Slick Italian."

Giovanni grinned back at her. "Sweet it is," He replied. "I'm
sure they have something that will be perfecto." He added.
He could tell that his answer about spending time with her had
disappointed her a bit. He figured that the surprise he and Dane
had in store for the two girls would help to make up for that.
At least he hoped so.
He considered just what he knew about her as he made his way
over to the bar stand and ran a hand through his hair. It was
true that there was a lot more they needed to learn about each
other, but he had the feeling that it would work out. So far she
seemed to take everything he had told her about himself in
stride, so he had the feeling there was a lot about her that she
hadn't yet told him. He wondered and hoped that she'd feel
comfortable enough with him to tell her more about her past.
Gio grinned at Dane's chuckle and listened to his friend's
words. He had to agree that he felt the same about Nessa. "I
know exactly how you feel," he told his friend. "I feel the same
way about Vanessa." he said with a happy grin.
He noticed his friend's astonisthed look and he laughed. "I know
shocking right? She is very special to me. I am very much into
her, she gets me. She makes me feel more than I have ever felt
before. " He admitted and realized that his friend could have
teased him back but hadn't. "I think Astrid's changed you too."
he said with a grin. "Normally you'd have been ragging on me
much harder. It seems like the both of us got really lucky."
Gio made his way back to the where Vanessa was waiting for him.
"I've got a surprise for you, you'll need to get your shoes off
and come with me." He said. "Actually it's a surprise for both
you and Astrid. Let's go tell her," He said waiting for Vanessa
to get her shoes on, holding the glasses he had gotten of a
sweet white wine.
Then he offered her one of the glasses and moved to wrap an arm
around her waist to lead her down and over to the other tent. He
felt strangely excited, and he couldn't wait to see what the two
women thought of the surprise. He grinned at Astrid's question
and excitement over her friend's new status as his girlfriend.
He stepped back so the two girls could hug.
His eyebrows shot up at Astrid's sudden change of tone and words
to him. He gulped a bit nervously not sure how to take this side
of the normally cheerful girl. His eyes widened, even more, when
the girl mentioned impounding his motorcycle.
"Rest assured I will never hurt her intentionally. There may be
misunderstandings that can happen, but I will do everything in
my power to not hurt her." he promised solemnly feeling almost
wary of the younger woman's threats. He had no doubt that
Vanessa would do much worse to him than Astrid if he did ever
hurt her. Still coming from Astrid was much scarier for some
reason. Maybe because it was so unlike what he knew about her.
"So Dane is waiting for us, there's a surprise we have for the
both of you." he finally said rubbing the back of his head a bit
uncomfortably. Then he took a sip of the wine and moved to lead
the two women over to where Dane was waiting for them with the
stagehand.
"Here we are," he said forcing a smile and moved out of Astrid's
line of sight. "We're ready to go." He said to the stagehand who
turned to lead them back into the area behind the stage. As they
passed the band prepping to go on stage, Gio frowned noticing
one of the guy's eyes changing color and shape. That was a bit
unnerving. He turned his head back again after having passed the
next band and noticed another guy's face shifting slightly and
looking really off. "Shit," He swore and moved closer to Dane
and whispered in his ear. "We got a shifter problem in the next
band going on to play. Keep your eyes open there could be more,"
He told his partner glancing at Astrid and Vanessa wondering if
it would be smart to tell them about what he had seen. Perhaps
Dane would have an idea about it.

Waiting for Giovanni, Vanessa laid back and enjoyed the music.
This was relaxing. Vanessa loved listening to that kind of
music. Life was peaceful and she was rather happy to have met
Giovanni, and now to be dating him!
When her boyfriend returned, Vanessa was shocked to see he'd
picked a white wine, but more importantly that he claimed to
have a surprise for both she and Astrid. What kind of surprise
could these boys come up with? Vanessa hurriedly put on her
shoes and got up to join Giovanni as they went to Astrid and
Dane's tent. Vanessa took one of the drinks as he wrapped an arm
around her waist, making Vanessa smile up at the taller man.
Vanessa nodded at Astrid's question, hugging her friend back
when the girl came to hug her. It was weird, to think of herself
in a relationship again. After all, it had been a little over a
year since her last relationship. Well, her engagement had
ended, when she learned the man she loved was cheating on her
all along. Hearing Astrid threaten her boyfriend, Vanessa
sighed. The woman looked at Giovanni with a small smile. "Astrid
makes it sound worse than it is. I've only had one relationship
that went badly. But that was quite a long time ago. Besides, if
you do hurt me, I think you should be more afraid of me."
Vanessa explained as she looked at Giovanni.
Once they had met up with Dane, Vanessa was astonished to
discover that they were going backstage. Vanessa walked, trying
to figure out what was happening, even when she notice Giovanni
walk away from her to his friend

Waiting for Giovanni to return with his girlfriend and Vanessa,
Dane smiled. He couldn't help feeling giddy, hoping that Astrid
would love the surprise they had in store for them. Dane was
lucky to be dating Astrid, and he wanted her to know how special
he thought she was. Seeing them walking up, Dane smiled as he
held a wine cooler in each hand for himself and Astrid.
When Astrid came up to him, Dane slipped his arm around her
waist happily as he handed her one of the drinks. "I think
you're going to like this." Dane said, looking down at Astrid
happily as they made their way backstage. While they looked
around, Dane thought it looked like there was a shifter in the
next band, but that might be crazy. Dane didn't want to involve
the girls if this were true, they deserved some time off.
When Giovanni came up to him, Dane sighed. Damnit, he had been
right. He hated being right. Giovanni made a comment about
keeping his eyes open, which almost made Dane chuckle in
amusement. "We keep this to ourselves, Gio. No need to ruin this
mini vacation for our girls." Dane remarked, watching everyone
he passed closely, trying to catch signs of any other shifters.
After all, shifters were a major problem. This needed to be
dealt with, and quickly.
"Can we ever get a break?" Dane chuckled out as he looked at
Giovanni. Man, he knew Astrid was going to be mad if she found
out he was off working a case instead of being with her. They
would have to work at night, when their girlfriends were asleep,
Dane realized.

iovanni noticed her shocked look when Vanessa spotted the white
wine in his hands. "Do you not like white wine?" He asked hoping
he was wrong about her shocked look.
He smiled as she quickly put on her shoes and moved to follow
after him. He could tell her interest was piqued at the surprise
he had mentioned. He hoped that it would be a surprise that she
would remember for a long time.
He was rubbing the back of his head uncomfortably when Vanessa
moved to look up at him with a small smile. He listened to her
explain and relaxed slightly. "Oh I'm sorry that you had to go
through that. I know how that is." He said biting his lip. He
had told her a bit about his past relationships. He shot her a
knowing look. "Oh I figured as much. I don't plan on doing
anything to hurt you," he told her softly.
Once he had relayed the information to Dane in a soft voice he
nodded at the other's thoughts. "Yeah good idea." He agreed. he
glanced around his eyes taking in the bands and making a mental
note of each suspicious person. He sighed at Dane's chuckle.
"well, we did have three or four days of no problems. So there
is that. Later tonight, after they're asleep," he told Dane and
then moved back to rejoin Vanessa. "Hey sorry about that," he
said putting his arm back around her. "forgot something I needed
to tell him."
He couldn't help but smile when he heard Astrid's exclamation
when the band members gestured for them to come over. "Well,
what do you think? You like the surprise?" He asked with a smile
as he drew her over to the reclining band members who were
sitting around on comfortable couches and chairs.
"Pull up some chairs for our mates," the lead singer called out
to his staff. "You guys don't mind sharing with the ladies do
you?"
Gio grinned. "Oh not in the slightest," He assured him and
pulled Vanessa closer to him. "She's my girlfriend actually, and
if you couldn't tell, those two just got together too." He said
smirking as he watched Dane and Astrid still kissing.

Astrid actually thought it was funny with how wary Gio was of
her threats. She giggled at him and shook her head. "Sorry
Nessa, I couldn't help it. I wouldn't really do that stuff.
Well..maybe not. I hope not. I don't think this one will hurt
you nearly as bad as that jerk ass ex of yours from last year.
Three. Three!" She ended muttering to herself.
Astrid slipped on her sandals easily and followed the two out of
the tent and down to where Dane was waiting for her with a grin
on his face. "Thank you, Dane, darling." She said softly and
leaned up to kiss him on the cheek."I imagine I will," She
agreed, sighing contentedly as he moved to wrap his arm around
her waist. She took a long sip of her drink and leaned her head
against him as they walked back to the back of the stage.
She was getting slightly giddy at the thought of meeting one of
the bands, she figured that was what was happening and wiggled
happily. She didn't even notice when Gio came up to whisper
something to Dane. She glanced up when she heard the back end of
Dane's comment to Gio. "It is like a mini-vacation," She agreed.
"With a surprise to boot!" She said grinning widely. Astrid's
eyes grew wider when she noticed the band from earlier motioning
for them to come over. "Oh my goodness! We get to meet them?
This is the best day ever!" Astrid half squealed in excitement
and grabbed Dane's shirt and pulled him in to kiss him happily.

Hearing Giovanni, Vanessa couldn’t help giggling at his reaction
to her shocked look. ”No, I do. I just didn’t think white wine
would be your pick. I don’t know why. ” Vanessa said with a
smile as she looked at Giovanni happily. As they walked, Vanessa
couldn’t help laughing at Astrid’s words. Partially because
Vanessa could handle herself, but also because Astrid could be
very protective. ”Three that we know of. I’m not convinced there
weren’t more.” She said over her shoulder at Astrid. When
Giovanni spoke, Vanessa sighed and smiled up at him. ”I know you
do. I don’t plan to hurt you either.” Vanessa said. Something
about this relationship, though new, seemed like it would last.
Maybe it was naïve to trust Giovanni so fully, but Vanessa truly
believed he wouldn’t hurt her.
When Giovanni finally rejoined her, Vanessa smiled. ”It’s okay,
it’s not like I except you to be with me all the time.” Vanessa
said with a knowing smile. She trusted her boyfriend, it wasn’t
like they had to be together all the time, especially with the
work they both did. As Astrid exclaimed excitedly, Vanessa
smiled. Compared to Astrid, her excitement wasn’t quite as over
the top as Astrid, but she did smile. ”This is awesome,
seriously.” The band members were clearly friends of Giovanni
and Dane, which was kind of a cool thing. Vanessa couldn’t help
blushing when she heard Giovanni call her his girlfriend to the
band members, and she leaned in to kiss him.

As they made their way to the backstage area, Dane smiled down
at Astrid. She was so cheerful and full of life for a girl who
could have died just days before. He was lucky to be dating her.
He chuckled, hearing the girl call it a mini vacation. ”Darling,
you need this vacation after what happened.” Dane said with a
smile as he looked at Astrid. Her excitement about the surprise
seemed to down out everything else that was happening, even her
own friend’s excitement. Dane chuckled at her happiness,
thinking about how cute she looked all excited like this.
For Dane, these were just friends they had met through the job,
but for Astrid, it was an amazing band she got to meet. Kissing
the girl back, Dane smiled against her lips. When he finally
pulled away, Dane smiled down at her. ”I’m glad you like it.” He
said to Astrid. ”These are some old friends of ours.” Dane said
as they walked closer to where Giovanni and Vanessa were.

Giovanni relaxed at hearing her giggled response and smiled and
shook his head at her a bit. "Well that is a relief Bellisimo."
He replied with a rather amused look on his face. "I guess you
will be constantly surprised, there's a lot of things that you
have yet to learn about me. White wines are the sweetest of the
wines," He explained. "Does it meet with your approval?"
He couldn't help but shake his head at Astrid's words and eyed
the woman next to him. He wasn't sure what they were talking
about, but he got the feeling that it had to do with why Vanessa
hadn't gone through with marrying her fiance. When he overheard
her comment over her shoulder to Astrid he got a rather
scandalized look on his face. The man had cheated on her? What
sort of idiot would do that to such a beautiful and amazing
woman as Vanessa was? Only an insane man, he decided. The man
had not been right in the head. Anyone could see there was no
woman in the world to compare to Vanessa.
Vanessa's words back to him had Gio reaching for her hand and
squeezing it. "Mi Cara, I know you wouldn't. You are too kind
hearted for that." He said raising her hand to kiss it lightly.
He smiled back at her response after rejoining her and nodded
his head. "Well if I could I would stay by you all the time,
that is a bit unpractical sometimes. Especially when we start
working again."
His mind was already half distracted going over variables and
how to deal with the shapeshifters as they approached the band.
He eyed them closely, barely veiling the fact his dark eyes were
scrutinizing them for any signs that they were more than human.
It was a relief to him when he didn't discern any signs of
shapeshifters among the band and turned to smile at Vanessa's
more quiet excitement. He was pleasantly surprised when she
kissed him softly and pulled back with a wider smile on his
face, his white teeth flashing.
"I'm glad you think so Vanessa," He said softly and moved to set
their drinks down on the table and then sat on one of the chairs
that had been brought in for them. He drew her to sit on his lap
and wrapped his arms around her, breathing in the scent of her
hair for a moment. "You smell amazing," He whispered into her
ear and glanced over at the band members who were eying him with
wide grins.
"Yes, I have fallen very hard for this amazing woman, how could
I not? She is everything I have ever wanted," He told them not
minding in the least if they chose to tease and give him a hard
time.
He settled back in his chair and the conversation flowed around
the room between the band and the two women. He engaged in idle
chatter as well, picking up his glass from the table near them
to take small sips of his wine. He didn't keep it in his hands
for long as he preferred to hold her in his arms lightly as the
conversation flowed around them.

Astrid was beaming so widely, feeling her excitement growing the
closer they got to the band waiting for them. She glanced up at
Dane's words and nodded her head in agreement. "Oh I really did.
Thanks for helping make this happen, this will be a very
memorable vacation. I am sure of it." She said smiling wider at
him. She caught him chuckling and got a thoughtful look on her
face. Was he laughing at how excited she was? Or was it for some
other reason?
She really couldn't get enough of Dane's lips and was very happy
when he kissed her back and smiled against her lips. She giggled
when he pulled back and smiled down at her. She reached up and
ran a finger gently across his lips tracing his smile. "Best
smile yet Dane Darling," She told him. "I do very much so. You
are the amazing, and very thoughtful. Thank you Dane," She told
him sweetly.
She waved to the band members excitedly, "Hello! It's so nice to
get to meet you face to face! I've wanted to meet you for years!
You're one of my favorite bands!"She chirped excitedly almost
bouncing with delight. Once she was seated on Dane's lap she
began to ask the band members rather pointed and personal
questions about their lives. The band seemed a bit surprised by
just how much she knew about them but seemed happy enough to
answer her questions.
Her questions eventually changed to asking about how their
website was coming along and if they were still having server
troubles. The band seemed surprised and very relieved when she
offered to help them fix up the problems and tell them she could
find them a better server. Eventually one of them went to grab
their laptop so she could start to work on it as they discussed
other things around her. The techie who was normally in charge
of the website moved to sit closer so he could watch her work
and seemed almost in awe of how fast she was working.
"There, all done. I changed a few parameters to keep swear words
from showing since you have so many young fans. I imagine their
parents would appreciate that." She said and glanced up.
"Anything else you need help with tech wise?" She inquired.
She was laughing a moment later as she worked on fixing
someone's hacked Facebook account, blocking stalkers and fixing
other bugs that the band members were having on their computers.
Then she handed off the laptop and relaxed back in Dane's arms.
"All's well in a day's work," she said with a happy grin when
the band thanked her for her hard work. "If you want to really
thank me, you can sign something for me. It was always my dream
to get your signatures."
Astrid was rather excited when the band mentioned having the
four of them join them for dinner before heading back to their
tents.
"We've got a private chef, she's amazing. She was talking about
making some real authentic Italian food tonight, there'll be
plenty, if you four would want to join us," The lead singer told
them with a hopeful smile on his face.
Astrid glanced over at Gio and Vanessa and then up to Dane. "I'd
be up for that, I love all kinds of food. What do the rest of
you think?"

When the evening ended, Dane and Astrid spent more alone time,
both riding a concert high and their new relationship high. They
had a lot of fun, until the late morning when Astrid finally
fell asleep. Now Dane was quite tired, but he had to go meet
Giovanni to try to deal with the shapeshifters. It wasn't
necessarily the thing he wanted to do during this evening, but
it had to be dealt with before Astrid or Vanessa found out about
it.
Wandering out of his tent around 2 in the morning, Dane snuck
quietly, not intending to wake up Astrid in the process. He went
to the meetup spot to wait for Gio excitedly. At least hunting a
shapeshifter would be a lot of for Dane. Assuming the
shapeshifters didn't take random other forms, like Astrid's. In
retrospect, Dane hated shapeshifters, but they were fun to kill,
so there was that. At least Dane would get a fun story out of
hunting in the middle of a vacation. After all, he couldn't help
hunting. it was his lifeblood.

The evening had been a rather memorable one for Giovanni and
Vanessa. After the amazing dinner, they had spent the next
couple of hours enjoying the rest of the bands playing and then
had retired for the evening, closing their tent for some
privacy. Once Gio had satisfied Vanessa and his own appetites,
she had fallen asleep in his arms. He had watched her sleep for
a good half hour before kissing her and slowly untangling
himself from her and covered her.
He didn't really want to leave her, but there were the
shapeshifters that he and Dane needed to deal with. He gathered
up some tools he had brought, along with gloves and some masks
and slipped from the tent. He moved quickly and quietly so not
to make any noise and made his way to the back of the stage area
where he'd told Dane to meet him.
"You ready?" He asked in a very low voice as he handed a mask
over to Dane and slid his own on. One of the precautions for
fighting shapeshifters was to keep one's face covered as well as
the rest of your body to keep them from touching you. If they
touched you, they could take on the form of someone you cared
about. If one of them took on the form of Vanessa that would
just screw him up too much. Which was why he had long sleeves
and pants on despite the muggy night.
Gio made a signal to Dane once his partner was ready and the two
of them slipped back to the trailers where the bands were
resting for the evening. "There are probably three of them,
though I only noticed two." He whispered as they came to a stop
near one of the trailers and leaned up against it. "How should
we go about drawing them out? I don't want any human casualties
if I can help it."

Taking the mask from Giovanni, Dane nodded at his question.
“Let’s get this over with already.” Dane said. He hated
shapeshifters more than anything else they’d ever hunted.
Shapeshifters could destroy a person psychologically long before
they ever physically attacked them. Dane couldn’t begin to
imagine how messed up he would be if one took Astrid’s form. It
would be horrible, considering how much he liked Astrid. Dane
could only imagine he might never recover if he had to destroy a
shapeshifter in Astrid’s form.
Listening to Gio, Dane thought about what he had said. He
nodded, agreeing that there were probably three. If
shapeshifters traveled in groups, it usually consisted of at
least three shapeshifters. Dane had never known why that was,
but he hadn’t cared. Dane spent quite a while, thinking about
Gio’s question. It was hard, because they couldn’t exactly leave
the festival grounds but they needed to draw them as far away
from humans as possible. “Let’s lure them over there.” Dane
pointed to an area behind the stage that was empty space. “You
go get ready. I’ll find them and draw them over there.” Dane
said, thinking about how it might be difficult but he didn’t
care.

Giovanni wasn't surprised by Dane's wanting to get the job over
with. He almost wished that he hadn't left Vanessa alone in
their tent. He wanted it over with and fast, this of course
depended on just how easily they'd be able to draw the
shapeshifters out of hiding. If he was right, the shapeshifters
probably didn't suspect that there were hunters around and they
could use a trick he'd learned from one his old mentor.
He pulled a small portable speaker out and plugged a usb drive
into it and handed it over to Dane. "Remember that female
shifter we recorded last year singing a mating song? It should
do the trick in getting them to come out, They are the only ones
that can hear it." He said with a grin. "It'll entice them out
and we'll catch them unaware."
Once he had handed it over, he moved to hide in the shadows near
the spot that Dane had pointed out. He pulled out his long
knives and flipped them around in his hands expertly while he
waited. He could feel his adrenaline spike as he waited for the
rush of the shapeshifters. They were going to be fast and
desperate. Female shifters were something of a rarity, so it
made the males go almost insane when they'd hear a female's
song. Only the strongest would get the opportunity to win her
over.

It was going to be a miracle if they could get this over with
quickly. Shapeshifters tended to be tedious to draw out. It
required a lot, especially if the shifters didn’t know that
hunters had seen them. Dane had made sure those shifters hadn’t
known about his and Gio’s recognizing them. Dane nodded, when he
heard Gio talk about the female shifter. He took the speaker and
hid it while Gio went to watch. After it was well hidden, Dane
went off to hide himself.
Dane held his blade close to his chest as he waited for the
singing to draw the shapeshifters out. Luckily, that didn’t take
long. Soon enough, three shapeshifters can rushing out to find
the female. Dane and Gio went rushing out. Dane took out one
shapeshifter by taking his blade in between the thing’s ribcage
forcefully. It fell to the ground, with his blade still inside.
Dane yanked it out with a grunt as he turned to another
shapeshifter eagerly. He was pumped up now.

Giovanni watched in admiration as Dane efficiently took out the
first shapeshifter, the element of surprise being on his side.
The shapeshifter song ended, causing the other two shifters to
growl and shake their heads with rage when they realized that
they had been tricked. Gio smirked and threw himself at the
closest shifter, his blade swiping through the shifter's chest.
The shifter arched away from the blade, his eyes flashing silver
and snarled even louder. Gio pressed in closer not giving the
creature any mercy, his blade going in right under the
creature's ribcage after rushing and pressing the creature up
against the trailer.
The third shifter's eyes flickered from Gio and Dane as they
pulled their blades out his now dead compatriots and spun on his
heels and made a run for it. Gio cursed and gave chase. "Go
around and cut him off on the other side," he called to Dane
over his shoulder.
He was only a few steps behind the shifter when his phone
suddenly rang. Having assigned special ringtones to different
people in his contacts, Gio knew instantly by the "Bad to the
Bone" song that it was his old mentor calling. With the fact
that it was such an early hour Gio knew that the call had to be
urgent. Cursing the fact that he was in the middle of a kill,
Gio dug his phone out and answered the phone as he chased after
the shifter.
"Giovanni I need you and the doc here asap. I've got a town full
of possessed people, the boss demon is a real heavy hitter. I'm
calling in...oh crap... " Ace's stopped speaking, swearing
loudly some very choice curse words.
Gio felt his chest tighten at the sounds of screams and gunfire
sounded over the phone. He swore and took the moment to rush the
shifter and tackle him onto his stomach.
"Dane, give me a hand here, Ace is on the line, sounds like he
needs us. " Gio said moving to press his weight onto the shifter
and held his phone between his head and shoulder.
While he held the thrashing Shapeshifter face down on the ground
he could hear sounds of more rapid fire and curse words in his
ear. "ACE! You okay?" He screamed. "Talk to me!"
"Sorry about that," Ace's voice said coming back on the line.
"Had something to take care of. It's a small town outside of New
Orleans in Louisianna, You'll feel it when you get close to the
town. Can you leave straight away? You sound like you're working
yourself."
Gio sighed in relief when Ace finally replied. "I'm just glad
you're okay. sounds pretty bad if you can't even say the name of
the town, we'll leave shortly. We just have some shapeshifter
bodies to deal with."
Gio's mind instantly went to Vanessa and what he would say to
her. If it was as dire as Ace claimed, he probably would be
better off leaving her a note. While he hated not getting to say
goodbye to her to her face, he knew if Ace was needing help this
quickly that the town was more than likely overrun with
possessed people.
"You do that, I expect to see you tonight," Ace said and Gio
heard a gunshot go off again before the man cut off the call.
Gio moved off the now dead Shapeshifter and glanced up at Dane.
"We've got to deal with the bodies, and then head out. Ace needs
our help and fast. There's a whole town possessed by demons." He
said slowly standing up and glanced over the body.

The third shapeshifter was a bit more tricky. It went running
off rather quickly, causing Dane to hear Gio’s instructions as
he went running off to cut the shapeshifter off at the other
side. Dane chuckled when the final shapeshifter was caught in a
corner. It moved quickly, shoving Dane backwards, but he stayed
standing, rushing back to stab the shapeshifter between it’s
ribcage and pinning it to the ground. Dane sighed, looking at
the bodies as he dragged the one body to where Giovanni was.
For the entirety of the phone call, Dane stayed silent, waiting
to Gio to relay the information. It sounded serious, Dane knew
that much. Dane helped Gio with the shifter, noting that their
mentor seemed to need them. Once Giovanni was off the phone,
Dane nodded at the comment that they needed to get rid of the
bodies and head out. He sighed, moving the bodies to one central
location where they could burn them quickly and easily. Dane
covered the bodies in lighter fluid before lighting a match,
smirking at Gio.
It sucked, having to leave Astrid. Dane needed a note or
something to explain, but what would even say to her. It was
impersonal, but she needed the sleep. Once they were done with
the bodies, Dane went back to the tent he shared with Astrid,
packing his belongings quickly as he left a note explaining
things to Astrid on the pillow next to her. She would see it
when she woke, he knew that. But he would probably be long gone.
Dane met Gio by their bikes and after loading their belongings,
the two males were off. They stopped off to get gas twice on the
way, rushing to their mentor’s side as quickly as possible. It
took hours, and by the time they arrived, Dane was exhausted.
They arrived at the bar outside town, where they would meet, at
around 3pm, after driving all day. There were already a few
hunters nearby, his mentor Ace, the man’s son, Carter, and two
guys he didn’t know at all. Dane parked his bike and sighed
before joining them in the room.
“We’re still waiting on two more, so just hang out until they
show.” Ace said to Dane and Giovanni as soon as the males walked
in.

-Two hours later-
Vanessa woke with a start. Her personal cell phone was ringing
nearby, a note underneath it. It was like one in the morning,
who would call her? She answered tiredly, listening to her
father’s voice on the other end. The urgency in the man’s tone
caused her to sit upright. An entire town possessed by demons?
Possibly run by the demon who had killed her best friend on
earth? Hell, Vanessa was excited to get over there. She said
that she and Astrid would leave soon. The woman picked up the
note, tried to understand it and eventually shoved it in her
purse. It was in Italian, she has no idea what it said. Right
now, she didn’t have the energy to try to look it up even. Then
she left her own tent to go wake Astrid.
“Astrid, we need to leave. Now.” Vanessa said as she pushed her
friend a little in order to wake the girl up. “Get up, time to
pack up and leave. It’s my dad, he needs our help with a demon
possessed town.” Once she could see that Astrid was awake and
sitting up, Vanessa left the tent to pack up her own belongings
quickly. Within a matter of ten minutes, both girls were packed
up and at the location they’d left Nessa’s bike and Astrid’s
car. “I sent you the city, in case we get split up.” Vanessa
said, hoping onto her bike and driving off once Astrid was okay
with it.
They stopped approximately four times, to fuel up their cars,
take bathroom breaks and get energy drinks. Eventually, they
arrived at the bar around 5pm. Vanessa beat Astrid there, but
only by a minute or two. Vanessa got off her bike and took off
her helmet to see a man standing against a post. Her ex-fiance,
Jonah Walsh. Her eyes narrowed as she shook her hair out of the
helmet with a smile.
“Girl, are you from Tennessee, because you’re the only ten I
see.” The male said, causing Vanessa to glare and lunge at the
male, punching him square in the jaw before walking inside.
Not paying attention to anyone but her father, Vanessa didn’t
notice her boyfriend and his partner nearby as she honed in on
her father with a glare. “Did it not occur to you that I needed
to know about that?” The woman motioned in the direction of
Jonah, who had followed her in with a smirk as he went to get
some ice for his face. Carter, meanwhile, jumped in the middle
of his father and sister, just in case things got bad between
them.
“You wouldn’t have shown up, and I needed your help, Vanessa
Mae.” Vincent “Ace” Rhodes, said to his daughter.
“Manipulative.” Vanessa finally said before walking away from
her father and going to sit in a booth in the corner, still
glaring at her father as her brother went over to her and hugged
her while telling her how good it was to see her.
"Bitch. You left me at the altar. If anyone should be pissed
off, it's me." Jonah said loudly, knowing Vanessa would hear
him.

Once the bodies were taken care of, and burned down to nothing,
Gio sighed and made his way back to the tents. He had half the
mind to just wake Vanessa and tell her what was going on, but
when he saw her sleeping there so peacefully he didn't want to
wake her. He leaned in to kiss her gently and grabbed a piece of
paper. He scribbled down a note, he was so absent minded and
thinking about what else he needed to do that he didn't realize
he was writing in italian.
Gio already had his bag packed and ready to go. It was a habit
he never really got over. He took one last look at Vanessa and
then made his way over to his bike. He waited a few moments for
Dane and then they took off. Being in a rush to get to where Ace
was, they drove until they were nearly out of gas before they
stopped. They didn't bother to eat, though they did get cups of
coffee and energy drinks to keep moving.
By the time they arrived at 3 pm, Gio was wired and antsy when
they pulled up to the bar that was ten miles outside of the
town. That tell tale skin crawling feeling of evilness rushed up
his back, making Gio shiver as he got off his motorcycle. He
glanced curiously at the two strange hunters he didn't know but
didn't introduce himself. He figured if they wanted to know who
he was they'd ask.
He was glad to hear that there were two more that were going to
join them. He sighed and went to the back of the bar to see if
he could find some food he could make. He really could use
something to eat. He found some sandwich stuff in the fridge in
the back and constructed several sandwiches and brought them out
front.
"Might as well eat something while we wait," He said setting the
plate down on the bar top and then moving to sit next to Dane
and grabbed one to eat. He had finished three sandwiches before
he was satisfied. "Next time we need to pack food," he murmured
his eyes going over the strange hunters he didn't know.
He couldn't help but get a rather bad vibe off the blonde haired
one and tried to let it show on his face when he looked at him.
There were those people that just rubbed him wrong and this guy
was doing that without even opening his mouth. Gio turned to
look at Dane. "Does he seem off to you?" He asked in a low
voice. "I know it very rarely happens, but I really don't care
for him and I don't even know him."
Giovanni relaxed a bit against the bar when the blonde haired
man left the bar to get a smoke break. He and Dane chatted idly
about different things while they waited for the other two
hunters to show up. When the door opened and he spied Vanessa
walk in with an angry pissed off look on her face he moved
towards her to find out what was wrong. He paused when he saw
she was headed towards Ace and Carter and didn't seem to notice
him.
While he didn't mean to listen in on her conversation, he could
hear every word they were saying. He frowned when he noticed the
blonde man had come back in and was holding his jaw. He glared
back at the man, his jaw clenching. He could feel the tension
and animosity ebbing off of Vanessa. SHe had to have a reason
for not liking him and that was enough for him to eye the man
with an intense gaze.
He frowned deeper when she moved away from Ace and Carter, her
shoulders tense and drawn. He finally noticed the familial
similarities between the three of them. He suddenly had trouble
breathing when he realized he had been dating his mentor's
youngest child and precious daughter. He cursed inwardly wishing
he had thought to ask Nessa what her last name was.
Giovanni's head swung around to glower once again at the blonde
man. He felt his whole body go tight with tension when he heard
Astrid's words to the blonde haired jerk. "You need to apologize
to Vanessa," He said softly and in a very low menacing timbre.
"OR I will kick your ass all over this damn bar." He growled,
his hands going into fists. "NO one insults my girlfriend and
gets away with it!" He said his eyes flashing as he moved
towards the man with every intention of punching the man's face
in. "Better get those lips moving, or have you lost your voice
all of a sudden?"

Astrid was in the middle of a lovely dream when she felt hands
pushing on her. She sat up blinking and then frowned. It took a
little time but the words that Vanessa was saying finally made
it through her head. She moved to get up and discovered the
piece of paper that had been left on the pillow next to her.
"Ooh, Dane and Gio are going to be working with us, cool!" She
chimed to herself as she slid out of bed. "This should be
interesting." She said excitedly as she got dressed in a pair of
jeans, a floral blouse, and a green jacket.
Once she was dressed, she hurriedly packed all her things and
made her way to her car. She loaded her bag and took Vanessa's
as well and stuffed it into the back seat.
"Thanks, Nessa, I bet I'll be able to keep up though." She said
cheerily. "This baby gets great gas mileage, and can keep up
with your motorcycle."
By the time they arrived a the meetup spot, Astrid was in need
of a shower and food. She glanced around and spied Vanessa's
ex-fiance and she scowled. "Oh great, the douchebag of the year
is here," She mumbled under her breath.
She rolled her eyes at the man's attempt to flirt with Vanessa
and bit back a laugh when her friend lunged and hit the man in
the jaw super hard. She followed after Vanessa laughing behind
her hand. Her eyes came to a stop when she noticed Dane and Gio
standing near the bar top and grinned and walked over to wrap
her arms around Dane. "I bet you didn't realize we have the same
mentor," She said beaming up at him. "If you had woken us up to
tell us what was going on we could have all been here at the
same time. Well..maybe. We did have to stop four times. Probably
more often than you did."
She stopped talking when she heard Jonah's words to Vanessa. Her
eyes narrowd to slits and she crossed her arms across her chest.
"Excuse me? She had a damn good reason for leaving your sorry
ass at the altar." She shot back. She didn't elaborate further,
though she rather wishes she could. She knew Vanessa didn't
really want her father or brother to get in trouble, because if
they knew the truth they'd more than likely beat the life out of
the jerk.
She moved to lean up against Dane, her anger making her shake
slightly. Her eyes caught sight of the empty plates. "Oh is
there food somewhere? I'm starving," She said perking up
slightly at the thought of food. "I'm sure Vanessa could use
some food too."
Astrid tensed when she heard Gio's declaration to Jonah. "Oh
crap," She muttered and glanced up at Dane. "He looks rather
serious. This is not good," She added seeing that Carter and Ace
looked stunned and shocked to hear that Gio was dating Vanessa.
Despite their looks neither of them moved to stop Gio from
approaching Jonah even though it looked like he had every
intention of smashing the man's frightened face in. "Jonah it's
not that hard, just open your lips and apologize already!" She
called out rolling her eyes. "Or are you shaking in your boots?"
She couldn't help but tease.

Vanessa turned on her heel, hearing Jonah's harsh words towards
her. The woman stalked over angrily, thinking about how she
should respond. Vanessa narrowed her eyes at Jonah, before
speaking. "Jonah, you knew my one dealbreaker. You chose to
cheat on me. More than once, with more than one woman." Vanessa
finally said, becoming aware that her father and brother were
now listening in. The two males were now angrily approaching
Jonah.
Listening to Astrid's response, Vanessa sighed. Before long,
Vanessa was shocked to discover that Giovanni was also getting
involved. As much as she liked her boyfriend, Vanessa was not
ready for how overprotective he had just become. If she hadn't
been worried about this situation escalating, Vanessa would have
found it almost romantic. Still, she frowned as Giovanni
escalated the situation by demanding an apology. Vanessa ignored
Jonah's taunts, claiming she needed a man to fight her battles
as she thought about how hungry she was.
"Giovanni, he's not worth it. I appreciate what you're trying to
do though." Vanessa said, moving to stand beside Giovanni and
lean her head on his shoulder, before taking his hand in hers.

When Astrid and Vanessa showed up, Dane couldn't help smiling.
He hadn't expected to see her coming to join them, but Dane was
very glad to get more time to be with his girlfriend. He
chuckled as he leaned over and kissed her forehead as the girl
wrapped her arms around him. "I'm sorry darling. I'll wake you
up next time." Dane apologized to Astrid with a small smile. It
was lucky she was so understanding and lovely, Dane knew he'd
have to make it up to Astrid later on. He nodded at her words,
smiling. "I can imagine you two are starving, definitely," Dane
said, thinking about it. He wondered if the girls had stopped
for food at all in their rushing to get here. Giving the
familial similarities, Dane assumed they hadn't.
Hearing the unfolding situation, Dane sighed as he heard Gio's
angry words and Astrid's response. Dane knew this could go bad
quickly, he just hadn't realized that Gio was going to get that
protective of Vanessa that quickly. Getting up quickly, Dane
walked over to try to stop the commotion, though it seemed
Astrid was only instigating it. Dane smirked at the commotion,
but he waited to see if things would calm down. It didn't look
like it would, with Ace and Carter joining in looking ready to
attack the other hunter.

The animosity in the room was rising by the second. Giovanni
tried to let his anger go, but his Italian temper wasn't the
type to just dissipate without it getting unleashed physically.
His fists tightened at his sides and he closed his eyes trying
to use a method to dispell his anger.
Jonah finally noticed that Ace and Carter were joining the fray
and he shut his mouth and backed up slightly. "Come on, are you
all really going to gang up on me?"
"God Jonah, shut your stupid mouth. Obviously, Jonah the
jackass, can't keep his foot out of his mouth." The other man
said grabbing Jonah and hauling him away. "He and I will go do a
sweep of downtown. You all rest up a bit, you've been traveling
and probably could use it. I'm Uriah by the way. " the man said
waving as he dragged Jonah away ignoring his protests.
"I could have taken him!"
"Please, he'd have whupped your ass all over the bar. You damn
well know it." Uriah shot back as he dragged Jonah out by the
collar of his shirt.
Gio releashed his breath and glanced down at Vanessa. "You were
right about him not being worth it. However one of my major
flaws is not being able to control my temper when someone
insults someone I care about. I'll try and work on that."
He glanced up to see Carter and Ace staring at him with raised
eyebrows. "So yes, Vanessa and I have been seeing each other for
about a week. Dane and I helped them get away from some vampires
and helped them recover afterwards, " he explained.

Astrid merely smiled at Dane. "Ah don't worry about it. I
imagine Ace was rather adamant that you head out right away when
he called the both of you. I think his calling Nessa was a last
minute thing. He probably didn't want to involve her until he
realized he couldn't get someone else." Astrid said shrugging.
"Oh I am definitely hungry. All I have had all day was coffee. I
am nearly jittery from it." she admitted.
Astrid wasn't really surprised that Jonah wasn't about to
apologize, even with her encouragement. It was rather amusing to
see that not only Gio was bent on beating the jerk up out so
were Nessa's father and brother. She watched Dane go over to the
group and wondered how he was planning on trying to stop
anything from happening.
She thought it was rather funny that Jonah's partner, a slightly
older but handsome man was the one that came to his rescue.
Though he seemed almost annoyed that he had to. She watched in
amusement as the man pulled Jonah out of the bar behind him.
"Well that was kind of anti-climatic," She said with a laugh. "I
guess we'll have to try that again after we deal with all the
demon possessed. I'd love to see his smug face get rearranged."
Astrid stretched out and then moved to head to the kitchen. "So
I'm going to make something to eat, Vanessa do you want
something?" She asked cheerily. She had the feeling that Gio and
Vanessa's family were about to have some sort of conversation
that she didn't need to be around for. "Dane do you want to help
me?" She asked batting her eyelashes at him hoping he'd
understand her unspoken words. She really wanted to spend some
alone time with her boyfriend without an audience.

Thankfully, Jonah’s partner managed to drag Jonah away. It had
seemed like her boyfriend wasn’t about to back down, no matter
how hard she tried to stop him. At least it had calmed, Vanessa
sighed, let down her guards as she relaxed. In all honesty,
Jonah wasn’t worth it, and Giovanni should have realized it.
Once the two were gone, Vanessa focused on her boyfriend once
more, looking at Giovanni. “You don’t have to protect me, Gio.
I’m a big girl. You certainly didn’t need to escalate that
situation, especially with Jonah. He’s just not worth it. I
didn’t even tell him why I left him at the altar because he’s
not worth that.”’ Vanessa pointed out, moving to hug Gio to help
him calm down.
As Vanessa noticed the others staring confused, she sighed. In
all honesty, even if she was pretty certain she was falling hard
for Giovanni, she didn’t want to tell her father, not until she
was rather certain they were going to stay together. Not that
that meant much considering the fact that the last time she’d
been sure of a relationship, she’d left him at the altar. But
Giovanni was different, Vanessa had learned that from the moment
they had kissed. As Giovanni spoke to them, Vanessa took his
hand. There was no denying it now. She nodded at Astrid’s words,
smiling over at her friend happily.
“Let’s be clear. If you ever hurt Vanessa like that jackass, I
can assure you, they won’t find anything left of you, Giovanni.”
Ace threatened, looking at Giovanni closely.

At Astrid’s words, Dane smiled. He nodded at her words. Of
course Astrid was right, she usually was. “Yeah, let’s go find
some food.” Dane agreed with a smile at her. Of course, the
chaos between Jonah and Giovanni had come to a halt with Uriah
dragging the other way, which Dane would admit was a good thing
considering the fact that Jonah seemed to be risking being
knocked out otherwise. Dane couldn’t stop Gio, it would never
work, so he simply observed until it died off.
As the others honed in on Gio, Dane shook his head. He already
knew Ace might come for him to threaten him, but it was good he
was distracted by Gio announcing that he was dating Vanessa.
Dane snapped out of it as he heard Astrid’s words and nodded at
her, glad for the excuse to escape the tense situation
unveiling. Dane moved and wrapped an arm around his girlfriend
happily as he lead the way to the kitchen. “You know I’d follow
you anywhere, darling.” Dane commented once they were alone in
the kitchen together, before he spun Astrid and kissed her
passionately.

Giovanni was rather glad that the Uriah guy had been able to
pull Jonah away before he had gotten into a fight with the jerk.
He turned his gaze to Vanessa and listened to her silently as
she spoke to him. For a moment he didn't say anything as he
thought over what she had said.
"I apologize, I am sorry I felt like I should protect you. It's
a bit old school I realize. I know you are capable of protecting
yourself, I didn't mean to infer that you couldn't. I'll make a
point to keep my temper from getting the better of me when I
deal with him in the future. I'll just have to settle with
imagining what it would feel like to beat his sorry behind."
Giovanni felt reassured when Vanessa moved to take his hand and
hold it as he spoke to her father and brother. He frowned at Ace
when the man threatened him. "Please, that jackass is one of a
kind. I'm nothing like him. I'd rather hurt myself than to ever
do that sort of thing to Vanessa. You both know me, you know
cheating is not something I have ever done."

Astrid caught her friends' nodding and was happy enough to get
out of the room to let the others hash out their problems. All
the drama was a bit too much for her. Then again it seemed like
Nessa's family usually had a lot more drama than any she'd ever
seen.
She was a bit relieved that that stand off ended without any
fighting, though she had the feeling that may not be the end of
it. Gio didn't seem like the type to let those kind of things
go. He had the whole protective lover type down. Not that it was
a bad thing, but in the situation they were in they really
needed everyone in tip top shape to deal with a town possessed
by demons.
Astrid leaned into Dane's side as he wrapped an arm around her
and followed her into the kitchen. "Oh I know," Astrid replied
with a grin up at him. She let out a soft eep when he spun her
around and kissed her so passionately that she lost her breath.
She finally pulled back to catch her breath and smiled up at him
happily. "I rather like when you surprise me like that, give me
a bit to throw some food together and we can kiss some more. I
was thinking we should probably clear out the closest hotel so
we have somewhere to stay the night. I bet the four of us could
do that easily enough." She suggested as she moved to peruse the
fridge.
She pulled out ingredients to make sandwiches and made up some
chocolate shakes to go with them. "I need my chocolate intake,
and I'm sure Nessa will need hers too after what just went down.
It'll put her in a much better mood," She explained. "If we do
get the hotel cleaned out fast enough, we could have some fun
tonight." She added with a wink at him as she picked up the
shakes and set them on the tray that held the sandwiches and
carried them out.
"Food first, then we can head out and clear out the hotel," She
said setting the food down on the counter for her, Nessa and
whoever else was feeling hungry. "then we'll have somewhere to
stay for the night. I am definitely going to need some sleep
tonight." She added giving Dane a small wink.

Vanessa could see her father and her brother's anger, and she
sighed. "The three of you need to calm down and let it go.
There's a reason I never told you, and you know I'm right. All
of the things Jonah did to me, it doesn't change the fact that
he is a damn good hunter, and he's had your back more times than
I would like to count old man." Vanessa said softly, before
sighing. "I know it's something you can't forgive, Daddy, I get
that. But for right now, you all need to suck it up. We are in
uncharted territory here, and regardless of personal feelings,
we have to be able to trust one another." Vanessa said, before
looking at Gio. "Just uh, don't leave my side. I wouldn't trust
him to have my back, but you, I trust." Vanessa pointed out to
Gio softly.
"Come on, let's go get some food, and then we can clear out that
hotel," Vanessa said with a wink. "I could use some alone time
with my man," Vanessa said to him softly. "You did leave
abruptly with some note in Italian. I think you owe me a good
night." Vanessa teased him softly, cuddling in with him before
walking towards the kitchen, dragging him with her softly.
"Looks good, Astrid." Vanessa said with a smile.

Dane couldn't help but smile as Astrid led him into the kitchen.
They kissed before she spoke, and Dane chuckled when he heard
Astrid. "Oh baby, I'm full of surprises for you," Dane said with
a smile. Dane watched Astrid as she went through the fridge and
began pulling out ingredients like crazy. It was honestly a
shock. Granted, he had never had a woman cook for him, but then,
life on the road tended to be lots of takeout. He couldn't wait
to see how things turned out. "Are you sure I can't help you
out?" Dane asked her softly, smiling at her.
"Yeah, that was crazy. Even Gio needs something to cool him
down. He gets too intense when it's someone he cares about."
Dane commented with a smirk. "I'd say your friend stole his
heart." Dane teased. "Kind of like how you stole mine." Dane
said with a smile as he watched Astrid. "The four of us should
be able to clear it out pretty quick, I think, baby." Dane
reassured her, smiling as she winked. He nodded, and helped her
carry the shakes to a large table. "Alright guys, let's eat.
Long day ahead of us." Dane said, hoping this would be easy but
if the town was infested with Demons, well, it could take a week
or longer to send them all back.
