       Monster School
By: Minyaagar Date: February 13, 2026, 8:36 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Solo was instantly out of his seat as the last bell of the day
rang. Having chosen his seat closest to the door on purpose, he
was out of the classroom before anyone else. Not that anyone
would have tried to beat him to the door.
No one really dared to get that close to him, the human students
because he gave off loner vibes and discouraged them, and the
monster ones because of what he was. Not that he cared. It was
easier being on his own. He hadn't really wanted to come to this
school in the first place. If his uncle hadn't insisted on it,
he'd have continued learning on his own.
       "Hey watch it freak!"
Solo's eyes flashed, his head jerking up at the sound of one of
the frog monster cult starting in on bullying a young teen just
       a few feet away.
"Hey frog faces, let him go," Solo called out in a dark menacing
tone, one hand clenching into a fist at his side.
The group turned and their faces paled seeing it was Solo
talking to them. They let the kid they had been bullying go and
       rushed off.
"Thanks for helping me," the freshman said a bit shyly.
"Yeah whatever," Solo muttered and pulled his hood up and headed
towards the woods around the school.
Most students avoided the woods, not wanting to get into trouble
with the headmaster or run afoul of the creatures that lived in
them. Solo didn't give a care for the rules, and had nothing to
fear in the woods either. Him being a skinwalker meant the
       creatures avoided him automatically.
He'd gone a good fifteen feet in and then stashed his bag and
shifted to his Kunming wolf dog form. Feeling the need for a
hunt, he set off in search of a rabbit or if he was lucky
       perhaps a rabbit.
       -----
Lyall heard the bell to start moving, being what he was- was
       difficult.
He never came to terms with the fact that he was now a monster.
His twin, Lilith managed to find the school and got him signed
up along with her. So far she kept her distance unless he went
to her. He watched as he saw his twin come out of her own class
and heading to the lunch room.
He didn’t feel hungry.. he was overwhelmed with the various
scents now knowing their world was more than just werewolves and
humans. In fact while he acted distant with Lilith- he worried
for her ever the more being human.
He made it to the edge of the forest and began to take a walk.
Nature always did calm him.. even before the turn.
The sounds of the birds and smell of nature invaded his being.
He took a breath and let it out.”if I could change on command..
it be nice.” He muttered as his eyes dipped. Out of the corner
of his eye, a small white rabbit hopped into view. A small smile
curved on his lips as he took in the creature hopping off.
       ——
Solo's now heightened sense of smell soon picked up the scent of
a rabbit and he started to quietly hunt and then stalk it down.
He instinctively stayed upwind, not wanting the rabbit to catch
       his scent and get spooked.
Finally the white rabbit cane into sight, as did the lone dark
haired teenager that had gotten between him and his prey. Solo's
wolf mouth opened in a sneer, his eyes darkening in annoyance.
He started to turn to leave when the wind picked up, bringing
the scent of a forest monster to his nose. His hackles raised
and a low growl came from him before Solo moved quickly to get
in front of the teenager. A moment later, a short two legged
creature covered in fur came rushing from the underbrush yowling
gibberish and brandishing a short club.
Solo let out a deep growl, letting a dose of magic come out at
the same time, hitting the troll fiend head on. The troll fell
over, backing up and then ran off squealing in fright. Then Solo
turned slightly to stare up at the teen, taking a good look at
       the guy.
This was when he picked up the werewolf scent. Solo drew back
behind some bushes and shifted to his human form.
"It's not safe in the woods, least not for you when you're in
your human form," he told the other teen as he came out,
brushing his hair out of his face.
Even though he'd heard of the enmity between werewolves and
skinwalkers, this pipsqueak couldn't hurt him or threaten him at
       the moment.
"What's your name wolfy?" He asked curiously.
       -----
Lyall smelled something different to snap his head to the side,
his eyes catching solos form to back up naturally.
The smell seemed similar but not quite the same as him. It would
be a bit later he would hear the troll and watched it run off.
“Just when I thought I could go for a walk.” He grumbled to see
the beast go to the bushes before shifting to a human form.
Lyall went quiet as he looked away at first. He didn’t know much
of different kinds - so he knew he’d need to play by ear, given
he felt the hairs bristle on his neck naturally. He wondered if
it was instincts.. but he felt some territorial feelings
       stirring inside.
“Rather you not address me that way. It’s Lyall, yours…
beastie?” He questioned back as he put his hands in his coat.
       ——
Solo's ears pricked at the other teen's muttered grumble,
inwardly feeling a bit of empathy for the guy.
"As you wish, Lyall," Solo replied in a slight purr, his mouth
lifting into a slight smirk. "I've got a rather ridiculous
traditional Chinese name that i hate. You can call me Solo," he
replied as he eyed the shorter teen, taking in the other's
       features and build slowly.
"You must be one of the newbies," he commented and then played
with the drawstrings on his hoodie for a moment. "If you still
want to go on a walk it'd be safer to stick with me. The
creatures in here tend to avoid me. though I understand if you'd
want to do the same, I tend to give off the whole "walking
plague" vibe to others," Solo sighed.
       -----
“As in Han Solo? What a nickname.” Chuckled the werewolf jock.
“Newbie? Oh.. yeah.. new student.” He said to sigh. “I do-
didn’t feel hungry so figured a walk before the next class be
good.” He said as he walked with the teen. “So.. what exactly
are you- I’m still figuring out who is what since I’ve been
here. The kitsune was definitely new and didn’t realize they
existed. My nose been picking up scents of different things..
you kinda smell similar to a were but not?… guess it’s the best
way I can describe it.” He said to walk.
       ——
Solo paused a moment, his eyebrows rising and a genuine laugh
emerging at Lyall's question. "You're the first to actually get
that. Most people just assume it's cause I hate being around
       other people,"
Solo cocked his head to the side at Lyall's question and reply
that he was new. He had the feeling that it was quite possible
that The teen was a made werewolf, not a born one. Which meant
       he'd only recently been turned.
Solo waited until after Lyall had finished talking and
explaining how confusing and overwhelming things were for him.
"Having so many supernaturals and monsters in one place was
overwhelming for me too at first. I know a few tricks that might
help you, that is if you feel comfortable around me after I tell
you what I am. I'm a Skinwalker," Solo replied as he led the
other teen a bit further into the woods.
"Most people avoid me because they're afraid of me. My kind are
considered pariahs and pure evil. So I understand if you don't
       want help from me,"
       _____
Lyall listened a bit.”seriously? Guess it doesn’t matter-
monster or human- they’ll assume whatever is in their head.” He
said with an eye roll. He walked with the teen as he listened to
solo speak, he heard the word fall from his mouth as he
remembered the stuff his sister had read.”you don’t seem evil at
all, and being honest- I got a *really* good example of not
judging a book by its cover.” He said as his mind went to his
goth sister. The girl was hardly the stereotype by his own
standards. She was energetic, almost down right cheerful half
the time for how she looked.
“So don’t worry about it-“ said Lyall with a lopsided grin.
“Honestly just frustrated I guess- I’m hoping there is some form
of sports I can do- and not have to hold back.” He said with a
deep telling sigh. “When is the next class anyway? Don’t wanna
get lost before I end up in science.” He said with a frown as he
       hated the subject.
       ——
       "I can't say I haven't encouraged their belief though. I tend to
steer clear of other people at school," Solo admitted with a
shrug. "But most teens, human or monster just follow like meek
       sheep without thinking for themselves."
Solo was rather surprised at Lyall's not reacting worse at what
he was. It was a first for him that another teen didn't outright
judge him. Then again, he imagined Lyall must have gone through
the same after he'd been turned.
"Sorry to hear that. It'll get better once you learn more
control. As for sports...I think there is a supernatural group
that plays different sports together. You should talk to Brutus
Armstrong the gym teacher, he could tell you more. He's a
       shifter himself,"
Hearing Lyall asking about when their next class was had Solo
check his watch. "I had my last class of the normal school day,
until monster studies later tonight. You might have a different
schedule than I do though, you got it on you? It's closing in on
       1 now,"
       ---
“Mmhmm,“ he said to shuffle it out and hand it over. While most
of his classes did match up with his twin- it clearly had
liliths name typed out before he smacked his forehead.”sorry!
It’s my sisters. “ he said sheepishly as he realized.”A shit I
gotta find her- bet she thinks she don’t have class.” He
       grumbled softly.
       ——
Solo moved in a bit closer to glance down at the paper schedule
       that Lyall pulled out.
A soft chuckle escaped him at the other's sheepish look and
       apology.
"Guess we should head back then. We wouldn't want your sister to
miss out on her biology class. Best hurry back," he added and
reached to grab Lyall's hand and pulled the other after him
before starting to jog and then outright run, easily dodging
       obstacles in the woods.
While he hated sports in general, Solo was rather athletic and
rather good at parkour and gymnastics.
They were soon back on the school grounds and Solo let the
other's hand go. "What's your sister look like?" He asked,
glancing around as they headed through the courtyard where other
       students were hanging out.
       ----
Lyall felt his hand grabbed as he blushed. He followed solo
impressed by how athletic he seemed- first glance he never
thought about it. They got to the school again seeing students
gather outside to mingle before the bell, his hazel eye scouring
be heard solo ask what Lilith looked like. His face blushed more
of embarrassment as he realized this guy was about to meet his
crazy sister.”well she’s definitely not like me- dresses in
black, probably on her computer- again.” He said with a sigh.
Lilith was sitting near the tree as she was by herself. Her legs
criss crossed as he fingers flew over the board- if one didn’t
pay attention enough would have sworn she was a shadow of the
       tree.
“Where is she…” mumbled the teen as he peered at the various
students- as his nose wrinkled at the variety of scents getting
       to him a little.
       ——
Solo's gaze steadily moved over the other's in the courtyard
until they landed on the girl under the tree on the far side of
       the courtyard.
"Is that her?" He asked pointing to the girl hidden in the
shadows. "All black was kind of a vague description, gothy
computer chic would've helped more," he added with a chuckle as
he started walking over to the girl that has blended into the
       shadows.
       +++
“Yeahhh.. sorry- didn’t realize how many dressed like that- use
to go to a small school so she stuck out.” Said Lyall as he
       moved with the teen.
He could see his sister bobbing her head to whatever she was
listening to- only glancing to make sure people were not moving.
They barely reached to see his sisters computer kicked.”oh
shit..” said Lyall as he knew his sister- she built the thing
with her own two hands- and anyone broke it normally would face
her boot or fist to the face.
But given the nature of the school she promised she’d keep a
lid. Anyone could be a wolf- and now that he knew there was
more- he didn’t want her hurt.
He saw the fuming look before she got up to grab her laptop her
mouth making a scowl. The person that messed with her clearly
feeding off her anger from how their face was.
Worry creased as he picked up his pace to make sure to get
between the monster and his sister.”hey is the laptop alright?”
       Heard Lilith.
“Yeah.. little banged- may just check up on it when I get to the
dorm.” She said with a clear grumble.
       ——
"well given she looks like you it'd be easy to tell her apart
       from the others," Solo replied.
His eyes narrowed at the as.shole that kicked the girl's
computer, and crossed his arms over his chest as he stepped up
       next to Lyall.
"You did that on purpose," he growled, his eyes darkening as he
glared up at the taller monster athlete.
The teen automatically backed off, shaking rather visibly at
       being approached by Solo.
"You should apologize, and make sure you never do that again,"
The teen promptly stuttered out an apology and hurried off, as
did several other monster students that were within range of
       Solo's glare
Solo made no explanation for their reactions and moved to lean
against the tree waiting for Lyall to finish speaking with his
       sister.
       -----
Lilith noticed the teen seemed to devolve from the smug look.
Her brow raising at solo before she heard Lyall.”I think our
       schedules got flipped.”
Lilith drew her attention away from solo long enough to dig in
her bag.”mmm here it is- seems doesn’t matter where we go- they
always flip us.” Said the girl with a chuckle.
Her head went back.”so who is tall dark and handsome?” She asked
as she watched Lyall face go bright red.”ohhhh… now you gotta
tell me.” She started to feel fingers on her lips as his way of
saying shut up.”his name is solo- be nice.” She heard for her to
move his hand.”as in Han Solo?” She joked as the teen groaned a
bit at her. Clearly their humor did match. “Just solo.” He said
as she nodded.”alright- be han when you spill the tea of how you
two met.” She teased him under her breath. She went to her bag
to shift it in and got the headphones out and placed away.”thank
you solo for that- but promise- I’m a big girl.” She said with a
soft smile. Seeing that her brother found someone already- even
if it was brief was nice to see. She worried during the year of
hell of hiding his wolf and finding somewhere her brother could
get himself under control- and a lot of convincing their parents
it was a high end school.
“See you later- “ she said to Lyall
“Dinner before your other classes.” She said with a smile.
Lyall watched her go, and looked at his right one.”guess I’m
done too.” He said with a chuckle.”so do we just do whatever til
       night classes?” He asked.
       ——
Solo of course heard every word the siblings exchanged with his
sharp hearing. He couldn't help but smirk a bit seeing how
flustered and red faced Lyal got from his sister's teasing.
"Oh I'm sure you are, but that dude is a jackal, he'd have kept
it up. They thrive off of goading people into fights." Solo
replied with a sigh. "He knows better than to try anything now,"
he added and slipped his hands into his jeans pockets.
He watched the girl head off, admiring her spunky attitude.
"Pretty much yeah. Most try to do homework in between. Or stay
out of trouble. You hungry? Could go into town and grab
something together if you'd like. I can show you around a bit."
       Solo offered.
       -------
Lyall heard solo speak to his sister, he could see from his face
he didn’t seem to have a Problem with her.
Once he saw her off he spoke.”I could use little bit of food, “
he said. His worry slowly ebbed.”you sure whatever that ass is
will let her be?” He asked solo. It wasn’t he didn’t believe the
guy- he knew how unpredictable situations were, and there were
times he thought he ran off problems for his sister for it to
       only pop up again.
He began to walk as he let a sigh off his mind going to his
       sister in worry.
       ----
Solo made a thoughtful sound at Lyall's saying he needed a
little bit of food. "Is there anything in particular you might
want? Like pizza or a hamburger?"
Solo started walking off slowly, pausing at the next question.
"The other monster students know better than to get on my bad
side," he said simply. "They've seen me spar against Brutus," he
added shooting a wide grin at Lyall. "I may not look all that
tough, but looks can be deceiving,"
Solo led Lyall off the campus and towards the town. He normally
walked pretty much everywhere, though he'd been thinking of
       getting a motorcycle.
"What sort of stuff do you like to do for fun? Got any hobbies?"
       He found himself asking.
       ----
“They may of- but I’ve seen those that I thought knew me.. well
when I was human that they wouldn’t fuck with my sister.” He
sighed.”they waited till I was too busy to see what’s going on-
and she ain’t one to fess up when she’s being messed with.” He
said honestly. *especially now* he thought silently to himself.
He wondered if it was the outburst he had before she found the
       school.
“Pizza sounds good-could bring some back for her.” He said
       thoughtfully.
“Hobbies? Basketball- jogging.. mostly sports. It’s been hard so
I’ve been leaning on the running. “ he said with a deep sigh. He
missed his sports, but if there was a supernatural group as solo
said- he’d be able to get back into it and enjoy things again.
“What about you? “ he asked curiously.
       ——
"hmm," solo murmured, thinking it might not be a bad idea to
keep an eye on Lyall's sister. "Well between us we can keep the
       as.sholes away," he replied.
"Oh perfect. I know the best place for pizza and wings."
He reached out to snag Lyall's sleeve to pull the other down an
alleyway when his nose picked up on the scent of a group of
local werewolves. "You catch the scent of those guys? Steer
clear of them if you're here in town without me." He advised.
Solo gave a nod as Lyall mentioned sports as his hobbies. "So
the all american jock heartthrob then?" He asked with a teasing
       wink.
"I'm more into martial arts, parkour and individual type of
sports. We could race sometime if you'd like,"
       -----
Lyall gave a nod to the teens suggestion before hearing the
positive note of where to go for pizza.
As he walked he felt the pull of solo and smelled the pack to
made a serious look. “Haha, I’m not that much-“ he said as he
walked. “Parkour? I wouldn’t mind trying that- I know I’ve done
track but I’m always wanting to do something new.” Said the teen
       with a smile.
       ---
"if you met the right werewolf chick or guy, I bet they'd be
helluva interested in you. It might take awhile to meet the
       right one though,"
Solo grinned hearing how interested Lyall was in learning
parkour. "I could totally show you some basic stuff. I bet with
your faster reflexes you'd like the challenge of parkour," he
mused before veering off down another street and heading to a
small pizzeria that was hidden between a tattoo parlor and a
       bike repair shop.
"Sammy's is the best pizza place in town," Solo said and headed
towards the place and opened the door and waited for Lyall to
       go in before following after.
The smell of fresh baking pizzas had his stomach growling
immediately and his mouth watering. "I'm probably gonna get one
pizza for myself, so pick out one that you and your sister would
like," he suggested and waited patiently for Lyall to pick.
Then he gave his own order and paid for everything before lyall
could object. "We'll be in the corner booth Rosie," he told the
woman that had taken their orders and motioned for Lyall to
       follow.
       ----
“I’m not into chicks- I’m gay.” Said Lyall openly, and clearly
nervous. “Just not many know about that.” He finished as he
listened to the teen talk about parkour and what he could teach
him. His eye went to the bike repair shop before catching up to
       solo to enter the place.
The smell of pizza hitting him as he took a deep breath in of
the smells.”drooling already.” Said the teen with a chuckle. He
ordered a meat loaded pizza, and before he could get his wallet
frowned when solo paid.”I’m gonna pay you back.” He said flatly
       before sitting down.
“How long you done parkour?” He asked curiously.
       ——
Solo was a bit surprised by lyall trusting him enough to tell
him he was gay. Hearing how nervous Lyall sounded had him giving
an accepting nod. "Cool. I'm still trying to figure out what I
       am." He admitted.
Solo grinned at Lyall's response. "Pretty sure everyone that
walks in here responds that way,"
Solo merely smirked at Lyall's insistence about paying him back
for the pizza. "I'll let you treat me next time," he said with a
wink. "Well..I started when I was about twelve and living in
Beijing with my uncle. Mostly so I could get away from the
bullies that liked to chase me around and beat me up. Then my
uncle got me into martial arts so I could defend myself better.
Parkour was my first love though, so I've been doing it about 5
       years now"
       ----
Lyall felt a sense of sheepishness of the teens smirk. “Yeah.. “
he said as he listened to solo express how he got into it and
how he was in martial arts.
“That sucks.. me- I joined sports originally as a way to let
some energy out- I use to get into fights when I was in middle
school. Turned out it was good for me- “ he said rubbing his
neck.”thats why I was missing my sports- I’m not good when I get
angry- even before the change.” He said honestly.
       —fin—
Solo couldn't hold back the smile that filled his face thinking
of finally possibly having someone that wanted to hang out with
him for a change. He had never really had a friend before. Which
he'd never really cared about before since his uncle had told
him that was just how things worked when one was a skinwalker.
There was a natural instinctive fear most races and people had
of their kind of that kept them excluded from any sort of
relationships outside of their own kind.
"It is what it is. So you were a scrapper then? Well that makes
sense. Gotta get it out in a good way or it'll fester and get
       worse."
He paused before saying more when he spied their pizzas being
       brought out.
"Mmm...that smells so good! Can't wait to dig in!" He said
rubbing his hands together as the food was set in front of them
       followed by icy cold sodas.
Solo let out a very pleased moan as he started in on his chicken
bacon Alfredo pizza. "Soo fricking good, like always," he moaned
       happily after a few bites.
       ---fin---
“Yeah, it was a problem.” He said before seeing the food come
out. He grabbed a soda to sip it down the ice shifting slightly
to set it down. He dug in his meat lovers to sink his teeth in,
chewing thoughtfully before swallowing. Being how he was, he
motioned to a waiter for ranch. Once given he’d put some on and
take another bite.”perfection.” He said with a smile. “So after
eating maybe a light walk? I’ll need to bag this later for lil.”
He said as he ate some more. His eye trailed to the window
facing the street as he watched people pass by.”how long have
you been to this school? And is there any teachers I need to
       keep mindful of?” He asked.
       —fin—
Solo grinned around his mouthful as he watched Lyall eat and
then declare the pizza was perfect. "I thought you'd appreciate
it," he said with a bright smile that lit up his eyes.
"We can take a walk, I'll show you the other spots in town that
are good places to hang out. I've been here for two years, it'll
be three once I graduate," he paused to take another bite and
       drink before answering the question.
"The history teacher's kind of an old grump and pretty strict.
The rest are fair minded and nice enough. Though try not to
break too many rules or you'll end up in detention with Brutus
or the wizard guy, Mr. Matthews. My first year here i broke a
few too many rules," he admitted before diving into another
       slice.
       ----
Lyall listened as he ate, taking in what he said. “If.. it’s
okay.. what did you break to end up in detention? You seem
pretty chill in my opinion.” He said with a questioning look.
       ----
"oh just a few noses and skulls of some as.sholes," Solo replied
with a slight shrug. "I was more tightly wound when I first got
here, and the jocks all thought I'd be easy prey. They found out
that wasn't the truth. I played hookie a lot and skipped classes
       as well,"
       ---
“I’m not one to skip classes- value the sports too much to
jeopardize.” Said Lyall with a chuckle. “But the fighting?…
unless someone pisses me off enough. It’s already a challenge to
not argue with my sister- I kinda popped off on her one time and
the wolf in me about took over. She’s human- so hiding my wolf
makes it difficult.” He said with his half lie they had
rehearsed. Far as Lilith acted as if she had no clue of his wolf
side for the school- not knowing how they’d take a human knowing
such a secret. It was their way of not having problems as they
       worked through lyalls change.
       —fin—
"I can understand that, in my case most of the classes were
repeating things I already knew and I was bored out of my mind,"
he confessed, his eyes glancing around a bit.
Solo's eyebrows drew together and a concerned look on his face
after Lyall told him about nearly shifting in front of his
       sister.
"You really have to be careful about that. If you shift in front
of her that wouldn't be good for either of you. I've heard that
if a regular person finds out, their memories are erased." He
whispered so only Lyall could hear him.
"In really bad cases, their memories of that person are
completely erased. Maybe If you'd like i can help you get better
       control,"
       -----
Lyall gave a chuckle.”repeating things isn’t bad- makes sure
it’s in there.” He said with a smirk.
He felt a drop in his heart at the idea of his sisters memories
completely erased. He figured he would need to ace a deep talk
with the more he learned from his side about what she couldn’t
do for her own safety. “I wouldn’t mind the help, and the
practice..” he said with a small look.
The meal continued with light conversation of classes and what
was expected before they would head out, his leftovers in a box
       for his sister.
He took in the sights as he enjoyed the tour, his mind going in
what to do as they walked. It felt like e nice change for what
he knew, he hoped his sister would find a good friend, given a
change of scenery- even if the beginning did not seem so good
       for her.
       —fin—
"you say that without knowing how much I had to do that in
China. Students there spend more than half the day in school and
studying," he pointed out with a long suffering sigh. "I kind of
got into a rebellious stage once I got here,"
Seeing the light fade from Lyall's eyes at his warning made Solo
feel bad. "Then we'll work on that later," he promised quickly.
He steered the conversation back to lighter subjects about
classes and what to expect from the teachers. Then they headed
out, with Solo leading Lyall around the town and showing him the
better places where he liked to spend his free time.
"But the best place is this next spot." Solo said and then led
Lyall to the top of the old clock tower. "You can see the whole
town from up here, and not have to hear all the noise. Plus,
there's a really cool gargoyle statue up here. Come on, I'll
show you," he said with a grin and headed up the winding stairs
to the top where the gargoyle was perched on the building.
       "See? Isn't he cool looking?"
       -fin-
Lyall followed the teen up as he listened to him talk.”really?
My sister likes the gothic architecture.. if the gargoyle isn’t
real anyway.” He joked some. Once placed in the high place, he
lightly took solo’s arm out of his own fear of heights.. even if
       there was railings around.
“Pretty cool- looks kinda chill don’t ya think?” He asked with a
       small examining look.
       —fin—
"does she? That's cool. I suppose we could bring her here one
day and let her check out the gargoyle. If he was real, I'd
think I'd have noticed him around. Though from what I've read,
they only become flesh and blood during the night,"
Solo turned to look at Lyall when he felt the other's hand on
       his arm.
"Are you okay with heights?" He asked kindly without any sort of
judgement. "Yeah he's definitely Mr. Cool," he agreed.
"Though..he looks like he could use a cigarette,"
He fished one out of his pocket and reached out to slip it
       between the gargoyle's fanged teeth.
"Maybe I should get him some sunglasses too,"
       -fin-
Observing the world as it went by without him could grow dull.
Even irritating when birds decided to use you as a perch. The
young gargoyle was perched at the top of a clock tower,
       overlooking the city.
Recently, a new face had began to come around. It broke up the
monotony. If he could have, Erwyn would have laughed when the
teen brought a date and the put a smoke between the seemly
       statues lips.
It was when the sun went down that the statue skin holding him
in place would finally break away. Starting with a slow cracking
before Erwyn would bust out with a roar that would turn into a
       yawn.
       -fin-
“Yeah one these days I gotta get over it if imma try rock
climbing.” Said the teen as he let a breath out. He saw the
smoke to make a mild face at the fact solo smoked- much like his
       sister he avoided it.
But he chuckled at the idea of sunglasses. “Maybe we should not
torture the guy further eh?” He teased before they would go, he
wanted to make it to see his sister and prep for his night
classes. He waved solo off before heading to the dorms,
informing one of heads about his sister. Once she arrived in the
common room followed him to find a private place to talk. He
pulled the pizza he had reheated up and making sure they were
alone, the two spoke between each other in hushed tones.
“All I know is- if they know you know.. they might, wipe your
memory.. “ he told her as Lilith’s brows knitted.”then we will
be one big secret.. alright?” She said softly. “Once we get the
hell done here.. we shouldn’t have much issues.” She said with a
small thoughtful noise- but now knowing the guy that kicked her
laptop was not human had her thinking that she would have to
treat everyone with kid gloves. Given they could do harm to her
she wasn’t aware of or how.Her mind whirring a bit.”well you
better get to class.. can’t be skipping.” She said to wave him
off as she took what was left of the pizza to her room.
Lyall watched her go and got a soft sigh out. He wondered how
long they would be able to keep it up before they would get
caught or make it to graduation.
His steps sounded on the floor as he made it to his first class
to come in and look around seeing if solo was around.
       —fin—
"I can probably help with that too," Solo said in a softer tone.
He couldn't help but notice the face that Lyall made at seeing
the cigarette. "I don't actually smoke them, I just use them as
props," he is explained. "With my baby face, it makes me look
tougher to keep one on hand,"
He couldn't help but chuckle at the other's teasing. "Hey now I
don't torture him too much. I usually come up here to clean the
bird poop off of him," he protested.
He moved to check out the statue and produced a wet wipe to
clean off some white droppings from the gargoyle's shoulder.
Once his task was done, Solo and Lyall headed down from the
tower and headed back to the school grounds. They parted ways
but not before agreeing to meet up a few minutes before their
       evening class.
Solo headed to his room feeling a bit excited to finally have
someone that wanted to hang out with him. It made him feel
rather happy to not have to be the outcast of the school. Sure
he'd pretended to be okay with being a loner because up til now
no one had even tried to take a chance at being friends with
       him.
His mood however soured a bit when his uncle called to check in
on him. After having a rather heated fight over the phone, solo
was fuming and needing to get out his frustration.
"I swear he knows how to kill a good mood," he growled and
turned his attention on the boxing bag in the corner of his
       room.
Due to no one wanting to be near him for longer than a 40 minute
class, he'd ended up having a room all to himself. Which was
helpful when he was in one of his moods.
It was several hours later that he'd finally calmed down, his
body sweaty and worn out. He had just enough time to shower and
change into clean clothes before heading to the evening class
       with Brutus in his dojo.
There were only a few students milling around when he got there,
all of whom stopped talking when they noticed him. Solo shot
them a short glare and then then grinned when he saw Lyall
       looking around.
"hey, looking for me handsome?" He purred and threw an arm
around Lyall's shoulders. "Missing me already?" He couldn't help
       but tease a little.
The other students looked rather shocked at the interaction, but
didn't make any comments out loud.
Solo pulled his arm away and moved to lean against one of the
walls. "This is the shape shifters class, though the others seem
to think I shouldn't really be here." He explained shooting a
look around at the others. "Cause, I don't have "trouble" with
shifting." He said making air quotes. "I think they just like
       hating me,"
       -fin-
       -----
Lyall felt the arm to blush a bit.”hey it’s natural to stick
with people we know.. and you’re the first one I know.” He said
sheepishly. He noticed how the other students acted. The fact
that skin walkers were avoided seemed to be true to a degree.
“Don’t worry about them- I’m sure there is stuff on shifting
that are little known fact.” Said the teen.”sometimes there’s
always something you end up not knowing even if you’ve done it
naturally for years. “ he said to chuckle.
The next part came loudly- granted he felt Lilith speaking in
his head for this one. It felt very her to say and it felt right
for the situation. Given she was the type to call out shitty
       behavior.
“I find those that feel the need to be that way are just too
damn scared to get to know someone- doesn’t matter what the fuck
they are. That or they just too damn stuck on the stereotype to
even try to get to know someone.” He said with a smirk.
       —fin—
With the sun down and the night properly started Erwyn was
finally able to move around, he didn't bother removing the smoke
between his lips but didn't light it, not yet. He would wait
until he was on his way to his night class for that, getting
some disapproving looks from those who deemed the habit beneath
them. Most didn't know what he was and he liked to keep it that
       way.
The gargoyle hung in the back of the class, unnoticed by most.

Solo admired the blush on Lyall's face, feeling oddly pleased to
have caused such an effect. "That is true," he agreed thinking
of the strong draw the other had on him. And that had been only
after knowing Lyall for a few hours.
"Probably, I know since mine's more magically inclined so it's
not painful like others." He murmured. He didn't consider that
he might be making Lyall feel jealous. "Surprised Brutus isn't
here yet. Normally he's here before everyone,"
Solo felt rather pleased that Lyall wasn't like the others.
Maybe he'd finally have a real friend. He'd always dreamed of
having someone other than his uncle in his life.
"Well to be honest, most skinwalkers aren't the nicest. And I do
naturally scare people." He sighed. "At least I've got you to
hang out with now." He added shooting a smile at Lyall.
After a bit more talking, Brutus finally showed up and called
the class to order before getting started on the short lecture.
Solo of course couldn't help but glance around while listening.
His gaze fell on a face and he frowned slightly, his eyes
narrowing a bit. He reached out to poke Lyall's shoulder.
"Hey, look. He looks a bit like that gargoyle, right? Or am I
just imagining it?" He whispered into the other's ear.
       -fin-
Lyall felt a twinge of jealousy at the idea of not being
painful.”guess it varies with what you are.. “ he said softly.
“Probably a reason- use to have a coach that would come late
cause well- his wife had a baby. He was a damn good coach too-
it sucked dropping out that year.” He said with a sigh.
“Honestly- if that’s true- you’re one of a kind, and those that
go of a general group really are close minded.”
He took notice of Brutus and listened to the lesson. He felt
like that broke his focus to glance a bit.”he looks familiar-
but we don’t know what he is.. and I’m barely understanding
scents still. “ he murmured back, before his eye went back to
Brutus making sure the guy couldn’t hear the two talk during
       class.
The shift talk seemed further than what he was use to- but he
did hear that he could have one on one being a transfer. “I know
you said you’re magically inclined- but you’ve seen others
change before?” He questioned under his breath.
       —fin—
Solo got a thoughtful look, wondering for a moment about Brutus
and his wife. As far as he knew, the two didn't have any kids
       yet.
Solo stood a bit straighter, rather pleased by Lyall telling him
he was one of a kind. No one has ever said something nice about
him before. He had the feeling that he'd get a huge boost of ego
if Lyall kept saying these types of things to him.
"Thanks," he said shaking his head to hide the flush he felt on
       his face.
Solo face a slight nod, thinking he'd have to get closer to get
a better scent of the other teen. "I could help you figure that
out if you'd like. Discretely though. Most of the monster and
supernatural students get nervous if you sniff too closely,"
He stopped talking when Brutus' gaze fell on him and the giant
shifter raised an eyebrow. Hearing Lyall's soft question had
       him nod.
"Oh yeah, seen quite a few when I've been out with my uncle. A
few different were shifters, among other things," he admitted.
"You feel like pairing up with me?"
       -fin-
It was a little too easy to let everyone partner up to the point
that Erwyn was the only student left without a partner. He could
have cared less but it seemed to gain Brutus's attention. The
shifter motioning him over with a grumble about having an odd
       number of students.
The teen ended up sitting on the sidelines and opened up a book
to start reading, only to be fussed to put the book away and pay
attention getting an eye roll out of him.
       -fin-
Lyall nodded a bit as he watched people getting paired off.”yeah
sure..” he said before his eyes landed on the mysterious teen.
He could see he was a bit irritable but he knew what it meant to
be an oddball out- he still remembered his friend Luke sitting
on the sidelines most of the time- almost never seeing playtime-
it never settled well with him.
“Hey imma get the guy to come in our group- no rule says we
can’t be three.” He said as he walked over.”hey ah.. wanna join
us two? Mean the three musketeers did it so can we?” He said
with the most lopsided grin. The feel of him trying to be nice
was starting to feel cringey- but he was determined to make some
friends in the school as well. “Names Lyall, by the way..” he
       said as he blushed slightly.
       —fin—
Solo grinned at Lyall's response and followed the other teen's
gaze over at the odd guy out.
"Sure why not? Can't leave him to Brutus," he agreed remembering
how he had always been forced to pair up with the teacher.
He slowly followed after Lyall, ignoring the side looks the
others shot at him. Seeing the other up close up, had him seeing
the similarities between the teen and the gargoyle statue even
       more.
He kept his thought to himself though, and admired the blush on
       Lyall's face. "I don't think I've seen you around before. I'm
Solo," he spoke up and ran a hand through his hair.
       -fin-
It hadn't been long before the reading teen heard the voice of
the cute wolven teen, followed by what he could only guess was
the skin walker the others students were scared of. Erwyn was
shocked to hear the preppy teen invite him to join them. He was
speechless for a moment, not used to talking to anyone who was
       his own age.
"I usually just lurk... I'm Erwyn." He answered as he snapped
the book closed and put it away before he stood. "How long you
two been together?" He questioned as he looked the two over with
the assumption they were a couple. "Who... wants to go first?
Shifting practice right?" He questioned having not properly
       listened to the lesson.
       -fin-
Lyall blushed brightly at the idea of dating solo.”we just met..
kind of new.” He told the gargoyle teen, the smelled differently
from most. “You guys can go first.. I’m still having issues with
mine.” He said softly. His hands going to his pockets nervously.
       —fin—
Solo nodded, not all that surprised by Erwyn choosing to lurk.
"Together?" He questioned, shooting a look over at Lyall not
quite understanding what Erwyn meant. It took a minute for him
to realize that the other guy thought they were a couple.
"Yeah, what he said," he replied after a moment. "Though, I do
find him very cute," he admitted a bit candidly.
Catching Brutus glancing over at them had Solo sighing a bit.
"Guess I'll go first then. Just try not to let the magic
overwhelm you. When I shift, it can make my "repel everyone
scent" out more. And honestly that's what I'm trying to control,
       not shifting," he admitted.
He stepped back and after a brief moment his body shimmered as
the magic started to transform him into his Kunming wolf dog
form. The shift looked effortless and was nearly instant, and he
was glancing up and sniffing at the fear filled students around
       him.
After a bit of concentration, he managed to lower his fear
inducing repellent. He let out a soft bark before sitting on his
       haunches.
       -fin-
The way Lyall blushed and Solo flirted told Erwyn the two would
be an item before long at the very least. He watched as the
skinkwalker shifted. Feeling the repelling magic the gargoyle
shivered but was quick to shake it off. Seeing the wolf sit had
him nodding his head realizing it was his turn.
"Guess it's my turn..." He murmered before growling darkly and
letting out a seemingly pained roar as his wings sprouted and
his features changed shitly while his skin turned to stone. He
hoped the man wouldn't be too creeped out by the statue he had
       been cleaning being alive.
"Your turn Lyall..." He grunted, his voice far deeper in this
       form.
       -fin-
Lyall gave a firm nod of understanding before he watched solo
change. He felt the hairs stand on the back is his neck as he
felt a shortness of breath. He swallowed a bit before hearing
Erwyn. He heard the pained cry and watched as he shifted before
taking in the similar looking statue after the shock wore off as
well as his nerves.”fuck.. sorry about the smoke..” he said to
       facepalm.
He heard about his turn to get nervous. He envied those that
still kept their clothes intact as he shifted off the shirt and
shorts. Not knowing much of the magic world to even know
enchantments. Being in his underwear felt like an embarrassment
at first.. till he saw a few students doing the same.
He flexed his hands and closed his eyes trying to figure out how
to trigger it. But before he could he heard a bark that brought
him out and his head turned swiftly to see a wolf it smelled
much differently from solo- he figured that was the were. He
took deep breaths as he tried to not let the sight of baring
teeth get to him as he saw the coach settle one after another.
His mouth twitched a little as he turned back to the two. “I
can’t..” he mumbled at first- his emotions already crashing
       inside.
He put his hands on the back of his head as he seemed to walk in
a circle for a moment trying to not let his emotions get the
best of him. He knew when he shifted the second time.. was
during an argument with his sister. He could still remember
coming to his senses- her curled against the corner of the room
       and a broom.
“A wolf can’t shift on his own?” He heard the mock- one of the
few that stood out given the animosity between were and skin
       walkers.
“Maybe you shouldn’t be around solo the loner eh?” Said the
student who was immediately admonished by Brutus.
But given their nature and Lyall's natural temper he snapped
back almost in a bark.”fu.ck off! I just turned this year-
fuckers like you probably had it longer than me!” His eyes
changed to looking more wolfish and tainted with rage.
A deep growl grumbled deep within his chest as he turned away
ignoring Brutus as he let it fester. Somehow- it helped as he
shifted painfully, how he hated having to go through it. His
claws digging into the gym floor. After he finished he panted
trying to keep himself from losing his senses, fighting to keep
       his sense of humanity intact.
       —fin—
Solo's ears laid back at the roar of pain that came from Erwyn
as the other turned into a rather impressive looking gargoyle.
He was more surprised than creeped out realizing he'd been
cleaning bird poop off of the other's stone form.
His head twisted towards Lyall as the other teen apologized for
him leaving the cigarette and let out a huff. The other had
smoked it, so Erwyn probably hadn't minded it that much.
Solo could sense the unease in Lyall when it was finally his
turn and dropped his gaze when the teen started to undress. His
hackles raised a bit when the other werewolf barked at Lyall and
rose to his feet, letting out a warning growl. If the as.shole
kept it up, there would be a fight between them.
Solo was about to launch himself on the student that mocked
Lyall and then had the stupidity to suggest **he** was the
problem. It was fortunate for them that Brutus shut the other
       student up.
Solo watched the painful shift that Lyall went through, fueled
by his anger. In his werewolf form, Lyall was a great deal
bigger than Solo was, but that didn't scare him in the least
bit. Once the other's shifting had finished, Solo slowly made
his way over to Lyall and let out a soft woof and gently nudged
the other's paw with his own.
       --fin--
Hearing the hecklers and seeing Solo tense so protectively had
the gargoyle worried over the coming fight. He was relieved to
see Brutus step in and difuse the situation. It seemed the
frustration was enough to get Lyall to shift. Seeing Solo
comfort the larger wolf made Erwyn grin.
"With time the transformation should hurt less, least, that's
been my experience," he offered in attempted comfort.
       -fin-
Lyall was too scared to really move, feeling the nose of solo
and hearing the bark.. it grounded him a little- but nowhere
       near where his twin did.
But he knew she made it clear she couldn’t be around forever- he
had to be able to control it on his own. He let a small huff
out, to lean down to solo lightly nudging his face as his claws
stayed in the floor. His head moved to Erwyn, the deep voice
helping him ground a bit more to tilt his head to the side.
Knowing he wasn’t alone with the pain.. made him feel loads
better. His tail wagged a little bit enthusiastically- but when
it came time to change back- it seemed to happen faster than
turning too. “Does it always feel like I’m dying?” He whined a
little bit as he laid on the floor.
       —fin—
Solo stayed close, nuzzling Lyall's werewolf face back gently in
return. It seemed as though him and Erwyn encouraging Lyall
helped the new were a great deal.
He pulled back, turning to give Lyall privacy to shift back and
did the same. He moved to grab the other's clothes and tossed
them next to the prone Lyall. "I hope it gets better over time,
though if you want I could help you feel better afterwards," he
offered in a low voice as he knelt next to him.
His gaze went up to Erwyn and he got a thoughtful look on his
face. "Is the whole stone statue thing a curse or a natural
thing that happens to gargoyles?" He asked curiously.
       -fin-
Watching Lyall and Solo shift back to their human for had Erwyn
sighing shiftinging back was rarely easy. It was the reason he
usually just lurked. With a great amount of concentration he
finally shifted back to his human looking form and blushed when
Solo asked about his statue state.
"A generational curse on my kind... kind of a long story..." He
       explained while looking away.
       -fin-
Lyall watched as Erwyn shifted and listened tk the two talk as
he got dressed. “You’re welcome to talk about it if you want..
and sorry. I’m still dealing with the trauma of being attacked
by a wolf. Granted I ended up turned. I was told I could see a
counselor to unpack the whole thing.” He said with some honesty.
Lilith suggested tweaking the story and helped him as to keep
them quiet. “And I don’t do well with people insulting others
or insinuating things.. “ he said with a stretch.
       —fin—
"Ah, sorry if that was an insensitive question," Solo said to
Erwyn, feeling a bit bad for being so intrusive.
He was then frowning when he heard Lyall apologizing for what
he'd gone through. "You don't owe any apologies to anyone. You
may have to ask Brutus about who to talk to. I kind of just deal
with things on my own," he said with a shrug. "There are things
I'm not allowed to talk about," he sighed in annoyance.
"Skinwalker laws and all that jazz," he added vaguely.
Class was starting to wind down much to his relief, which meant
they could leave soon. "You want me to wait outside for you
Lyall? I was thinking of grabbing a midnight snack before trying
to sleep. You want anything Erwyn?" He asked, glancing up at the
       gargoyle.
He figured the other guy might want some company. He knew how
lonely it was lurking on the outside.
       -fin-
"The teachers are a good place to start to find people to talk
to... it... it's fine... you don't need to appologize, the curse
is an old story... if... you are sure about me tagging along,
suppose I could share it..." He answered as he looked at the
       two.
       -fin-
“I don’t mind a bite, the counselor thing is another day- this
was more of finding and getting use to classes.” Said lyall.
“Shifting makes me hungry.” He admitted. “It’s almost like my
workouts” he said with a chuckle.”I don’t mind you tagging along
Erwyn - I am looking for friends too- kind of trying to be more
independent.” He said the last part more to himself. “What’s a
good place for a quick bite?” He asked as he walked with the
       two.
       —fin—
Solo was relieved to hear he hadn't offended Erwyn. It had been
awhile since he'd actually interacted with other people, his
social skills had kind of taken a hit from being a loner for so
       long.
"Ah, just wanted to make sure. I'm not normally the social
type," he admitted and ran his have through his hair again. It
was kind of his signature move he made when he felt nervous.
"Only if you feel like sharing the story. Don't feel like you
have to," he insisted, and smiled rather brightly when Lyall
agreed to come along and told Erwyn he should join them.
"Good! There's a 24/7 place not too far from the school. I go
there all the time. They have the best pancakes. Did I mention
they serve breakfast all day long? It's one of the better places
to go," he said in a rather cheerful tone and led the way to the
       place.
They chatted a bit during the walk, arriving at the small diner
a good fifteen minutes later. He pushed in the doorz holding it
for both before following after them. Solo headed to a booth in
the corner and waited for Erwyn and Lyall to sit before sitting
down on the other side of Lyall.
A waitress soon came over with menus and gave them time to look
       them over.
"Why does everything sound so good?" solo sighed as he looked
through the menu. "What looks good to you guys?"

Hearing both wanted him to tag along had Erwyn nodding his head
and following the pair, grinning as he listened to Solo chatter
away, first about his lack of social skills then about a dinner
he clearly loved. It didn't take long for them to reach the
       mentioned place and get seated.
The gargoyle took the offered menu and flipped through it for a
moment. "Mmmm I think the breakfast platter sounds good. Has a
little sample of everything... though... it might be too big for
just me to eat..." He mentioned as he looked. The usually quiet
teen wanting to leave space for the forming couple to talk.
       -fin-
“Not social huh? I wouldn’t have guessed” said Lyall teasing
lightly to Solo. Seeing the guy this outgoing truthfully was
nice, he didn’t know him personally but he felt he would have
thought the guy social with how he talked.
Once settled he looked at the menu in thought till Ewyn spoke
       up.
“We can share that way.” Said lyall in thought.”it’ll work out
and I don’t want to eat too much tonight or I’ll pay for it.” He
       said with a chuckle.
       -----
Solo flushed a bit at Lyall's teasing words. "Well...it's been
nearly 6 years since I've had people who wanted to be around me,
so I might be overly chatty because of that," he explained.
He gave a nod when Erwyn mentioned getting the breakfast platter
and Lyall saying they could split. "That would work, I was
pretty much thinking of getting their cinnamon roll pancakes.
Those are the best. And maybe.." here Solo trailed off, his eyes
narrowing a bit as a group of guys entered the diner and sat
down right next to them shooting judgmental looks at them.
"We may want to order this to go," Solo murmured, feeling the
tension building and his hackles rising at the werewolf gang
       assessing them.
The waitress arrived a few minutes later to the and off menus to
the new group and then came over to take their orders.
"Hey Shirley, we'll take the breakfast platter and the cinnamon
roll pancakes to go. Might want to give Earl the heads-up, oh
and keep the change," he added as he handed over the laminated
menu, along with the cash to pay for it
Shirley's eyes widened slightly and she gave him a nod, stashing
the money in her apron pocket. "Be ready in about ten minutes
boys, just come grab it up front,"
Solo nodded, his hands sliding under the table and popped his
knuckles once she'd left. "You two should go out first, I'll
meet you outside," he murmured in a low voice.
       -fin-
"Sounds good to me," Erwyn had started to say before the new
group ploped themselves next to their table. The gargoyle could
feel the tension already building so by the time Solo had told
them to go ahead, he gave thr man a fixed look.
"Not a chance, not going to leave you to catch trouble on your
own," he huffed. "We can leave together." He added giving the
table a glare, his protective side showing. He felt a strange
kinship with Solo given the teen had been visiting him when the
gargoyle was frozen in the sun.
       -fin-
Lyall was enjoying the atmosphere before it was interrupted. The
smell of wolf invaded his nostrils as he felt the hairs on end
again. His eyes fallen at his hands unsure how to handle the
situation- he could smell a strange smell that seemed a bit
foreign but set him on edge, his hand went to his pocket
shifting for a watch he forgot to throw on to do it. Given the
digital age it would measure his blood pressure. He tapped a few
things as he kept himself calm.
“It’s best to stick together- human- beast it really doesn’t
matter- there is strength in numbers.. “ he said as his brows
       furrowed.
One of the wolves noticed how he spoke.
Laughter rang out.”man you hear scruffy? Packing with a wookie
and swan before the dawn?.” Lyall heard as he felt his temper
flare.”let’s get the food and go.” He told solo grabbing his
hand as away to get him to move. “Oh that’s just sick- bedding
       him too?” Lyall heard.
Almost as if he couldn’t help it a fist flew out knocking one
out.”fu.ck the food go!” He said getting the others out. Last
thing he wanted was to give the restaurant a problem. Second he
       was fighting to not change.
His emotions were running high and he knew if he flipped now
he’d lose it. His watch showing his blood pressure off the
charts.”let’s go okay?” He said almost in a panicky tone as
another wolf noticed his behavior.”ohhh.. can’t control it?
That’s not good.. course probably do some good to let loose eh?”
       Taunted the wolf.
       ———
Meanwhile- ever the night owl Lilith was fiddling on her phone-
her roommates long asleep. One seemed fine with her the other
not so much. Though friends didn’t seem viable with either. Her
phone made the sound it does given it was connected with lyalls
watch. Her mouth formed a worried line as she watched it shoot
up.”come on..” she said softly.”just calm down…” she said
wondering what had caused him to cause such a rise.
       —fin—
"trouble, me? I laugh in the face of trouble," solo muttered
back to Erwyn. He'd had a few past run ins with these guys and
knew exactly how to deal with them. It wasn't that he didn't
think his new friends couldn't fight, he just didn't want them
getting into trouble with the headmaster of the school. By now
he and Mr. Mikkelson were far too acquainted. The elf would not
be happy if he started getting other students in trouble.
He shot a look over at Lyall, when he mentioned sticking
together was a better idea. The comment from the asshole alpha
had him grinding his teeth before retorting loudly.
"Who are you calling scruffy? You're the one riddled with
       fleas!"
Then he felt Lyall grabbing his hand and pulling him to his feet
and towards the counter. He could literally feel the fury in
Lyall match his own at the next comment and his eyes went a dark
       red a low growl emerging.
"Back off," was the last legible words that came from Solo, as
his skin shimmered as his anger took over.
The commotion was heard by Shirley and Earl the cook who emerged
from the back holding a shotgun. "You three scum wolves get
outta here!" Earl demanded, his eyes flashing a bright yellow,
showing he was something other than human himself. He cocked the
rifle, aiming it at the leader of the group. "I won't ask
       again!"
       ------
It seemed things were quickly devolveing rapidly as the wolves
taunted them. Erwyn was slowly getting to his feet as the first
punch was swung. A heavy sigh escaped him at this, especially
when the owner came out with a shotgun. He took a deep breath as
he settled his composure, stopping by the front to grab their
food while Lyall dragged Solo out of the place, the gargoyle
slowly followed, the three wolven students scattering and headed
       back to campus.
"I have our food, I know some quiet places we could go to eat,"
he suggested, hoping the calm the pair.
       -fin-
Lyall heard the owner on his way out- not wanting to face the
gun either. Once they were outside and watching the group walk
off with the one that he punched.
He took a few deep breaths.”yeah.. I need to calm down or my
wolf will take over..” he said as he closed his eyes a bit
feeling himself slowly calming down.”don’t wanna shift.. “ he
       said worriedly.
       —fin—
Solo let out a growl at the werewolves as they finally ran off
and worked on getting better control as Lyall pulled him out of
       the diner.
His body was still shimmering as he willed down his fear
pheromones not wanting to make his new friends afraid of him.
He finally managed to calm down enough to firm words again and
cursed in Japanese under his breath for a few minutes.
"Thanks Erwyn," he said in a low voice and turned to shoot a
worried look at Lyall. "Sorry, I should have known they'd follow
us here," he sighed and reached up to gently stroke the back of
Lyall's neck to help him calm down. "Concentrate on the smell
of the food that Erwyn's carrying...and his steady heartbeat.
       That should help you focus,"
All the while he kept pace with Erwyn as the gargoyle teen led
       them away from the diner.
       ----
Seeing that the two were following,Erwyn cut down a secluded
Alley before he would shift, quite painfully, to his true form
before be would scoop the pair up and take off into the sky. He
stayed out of sight of wandering eyes as he made his way to the
roof of an old church that looked like it had originally been a
       castle.
He landed in the bell tower, the place giving Quasimodo vibes
with the makeshift loft inside. He then put them on their feet
and set the food down on the table once he had the books cleared
       away.
"Make yourself comfortable," he told them, not bothering to
       shift back this time.
       -fin-
Just when Lyall was about calm down thanks to solo, watched the
gargoyle shift and change. To only get scooped as he made a
noise to cover his eyes with his free hands. By the time they
landed he let off some breaths.
“Just so you know I don’t do well with heights.” He said
       sheepishly.
       —fin—
Solo wasn't quite prepared to be scooped up by Erwyn's strong
claws, or becoming suddenly airborne. His momentary surprise
settled though as the wind wafted around him and he relaxed in
       the gargoyle's strong hold.
"That was freaking awesome!" Solo couldn't help but exclaim with
a huge grin as he fixed his now messed up hair.
He clicked his tongue sympathetically at Lyall's rattled
expression. "Here, sit next to me, It'll help your nerves
settle," he said and pulled Lyall to sit down close to him and
rubbed the other's shoulders a bit.
"This is a really cool place Wyn," he said admiring the loft
space. "Do you have other cool hangout spots around town too?"
       ----
Seeing the very different reactions out of the two amused the
gargoyle, Solo's excited energy making him grin as he perched
started opening up the still fresh hot food and pushing it in
       front of Lyall.
"Here eatting will help too," he said ss he fussed over the
teens before his attention went to Solo. "Yes I have them hidden
all over town." He assured witha nod. "Suppose we will wait a
while before I bring you two back," he added with a worried
expression towards Lyall. He didn't know of a way to get back to
the ground from this place without flying.
       -fin-
Lyall took a bit to calm down and saw the food, he took some and
listened to the gargoyle.”you can fly us down- I gotta get over
this fear if I ever want to try rock climbing.” He admitted to
sigh at himself. He took a bite of the food that was still warm.
“So you don’t go to the dorms?” He questioned Erwyn.”mean given
we found you at that one place and all.”
       —fin—
Solo reached to grab one of his pancakes, rolled it up and
dunked in some syrup and took a bite one handed, while helping
       calm Lyall down.
"I wonder how many of them are spots I know of," he murmured
       thoughtfully.
He glanced at Lyall when Erwyn mentioned the possibility of
       waiting to take them back.
"If you need a distraction from the flying, I'm sure I could
think of something," he couldn't help but tease a bit, a rather
       cheeky grin on his face.
Solo took another bite waiting to hear what Erwyn had to say
about his not going to the dorms.
       -fin-
The gargoyle began to slowly eat his food once the others
finally began to eat. He wasn't all that surprised by the
question of why he didn't stay in the dorms. He was a student
after all, at least for the night classes.
"Well, my guardian is a teacher at the school... and I can't
attend day classes because of the turning to stone thing..." He
       answered.
       -fin-
Lyall listened to the teen.”you got a guardian at the school?
Nice!” He said with a smile. “Guess it allows for flexibility of
wherever you go to sleep?.. or ah.. turn to stone?” He
asked.”sorry if that was insensitive.. “ he said unsure of what
       was considered rude.
       —fin—
"can you hear while you're in your stone form?" Solo suddenly
asked, thinking about all the times he'd vented and bitterly
talked about his life to the gargoyle.
"Ya know, if you'd rather not be exposed to the elements and
kamikaze pigeons, you could shift in my room. I don't have a
roommate, and there's a ton of open space," Solo couldn't help
       but offer.
"Either of you want to try my last Cinnamon roll pancake? I'm
already full," he said, pushing the last one between Erwyn and
Lyall. "Also, if you ever want company after night class, just
let me know I often suffer from insomnia." Solo added and leaned
back letting out a rather satisfied moan and rubbed his stomach.
"Does your guardian check in on you often?" He asked curiously.
       -fin-
A chuckle left Erwyn at the questions from the two and even
blushed at rhe offer from Solo."I don't really sleep... it's
more of an imprisonment... and yes... I can hear and see
everything around me when I turn to stone.... I wouldn't want to
intrude on your space by taking up so much of it to be a
statue..." He told the pair as they ate. When the pancake was
push in front of them, the gargoyle took a small peice before
making a pleased noise at the flavor.
"My guardian pops in on me pretty frequently when he has the
time. You have probably met him, he is the wizard teacher who
likes math way too much..." He explained.
       -fin-
“I’m actually with two other roommates.. they’re not bad, think
one is a water creature has a tank.. “ said Lyall thoughtfully.
Though deep down the lock on top didn’t exactly make him feel
       safe.
Lyall being full passed on the offer.”I’m stuffed.” He said
before listening more.”oh the math teacher… yeah.. I ah—
struggle on that one.” He said flatly. He thought of the tutors
his parents got for him just for that subject alone.”do you
think he’ll offer extra help if asked?” He questioned as he
scratched his cheek with his finger.
       —fin—
Solo felt his face heat up in embarrassment when Erwyn said he'd
heard everything. He messed with his hair a bit and gave a nod
at the other saying he didn't want to take up so much space.
"Ah..I see. Well probably for the best then if he pops in on you
       so much."
His eyes widened a bit when he realized that David Martins was
       the gargoyle's guardian.
His focus turned to Lyall when he heard the other was having
problems with math. "When he's not busy with wizard business he
does offer tutoring...though if you're open to it, I could tutor
you. I'm kind of a whiz at it myself," Solo couldn't help but
say. "And I'm not just saying that because I want to spend time
with you, though I really do want to," he admitted, his cheeks
       getting a bit pink.
       -fin-
Hearing Lyall talk about his struggles with math followed by
Solo's offer to tutor the wolf made Erwyn grin at how adorable
the two were. "Mean, you can always visit me during the
day,you.... kind of do that ready... you two having a study date
would be adorable," he added with a cheeky grin.
       -fin-
Lyall gave a chuckle seeing solo blush a bit himself before
hearing the gargoyle saying they could visit his place during
       the day.
“That blush tells me you’re half lying.” said Lyall with a
smile.”but I’d get to like to know you more as well, as well as
get better at math. Lil has no issues but I struggle so hard.”
       He said with a sigh.
       -fin-
Solo had a sudden dawning idea hit him when Erwyn mentioned
visiting him during the day. His face turned a rather rosy pink
when Erwyn said it'd be adorable if they had a study date.
"Yeah yeah...well how can I not like getting attention from a
cute guy like you Lyall?" He asked rather pointedly. "Seriously,
you're kind of the first to not go screaming into the hills," He
sighed. He brightened up a bit more when Lyall said he'd like to
get to know him better and agreed to let Solo tutor him.
"Well then, you let us know where you plan on being during the
day Erwyn, and we'll come study out loud so you can hear it. I
figure if you remember everything you hear, that could help you
too," he suggested. "Do you have a phone? Or a way of sending
       messages?'
After a little longer of chatting, Solo started yawning and
checked his phone. "Should probably head back to the dorm to get
some sleep in," he sighed, clearly not ready to part ways with
his new friends. "See you tomorrow night Wyn," he said getting
up and reaching out to pound the gargoyle's hand lightly. "It's
probably easier to take us down at the same time, right?"
       -fin-
"I suppose I could do that, takes the fun out of you finding
me," the gargoyle teased as he stood to stretch. His body always
starting to feel stiff as the sunrise grew closer. He then found
a discarded pen and took Solo's hand to write his number down,
       and the Lyall's.
"It would be faster, wouldn't say eaiser," he said with a
chuckle as he easily scooped the pair up in his arms before he
walked over to stand on the edge and then jumped, gently gliding
all the way to the ground before he set the two down. "I plan
on being in the garden when the sun comes up, you should be able
to find me there. You two ha e a good rest of your night," he
told them before taking off into the air and off to the
mentioned garden, finding a good spot just in time for the sun
which turned him to stone on contact.
       -fin-
Lyall blushed hotly,”don’t know why they do.. mean Erwyn didn’t
either.. they are just judgy.” He said as he listened.
He blushed as he got the number before feeling the scoop. He
held his breath as he felt himself being glided down. He knew in
time he would need to get use to that.
“You too Erwyn.. see you..” he said before he walked with the
       skinwalker back to the dorms.
       —fin—
He grinned seeing Lyall's blush and shrugged when the cute teen
said the others were just judgy. "Ah well, it's their loss. I'd
prefer to spend time with you two,"
"well we could make it an ongoing game another day if you'd
like," Solo replied shooting a grin back at Erwyn.
He blew on the writing on his hand so it would dry and not
smudge. Solo felt a thrill go through him when Erwyn scooped him
up and let out happy howl during their "flight" to the ground.
"That was loads of fun! Thanks Wyn! We'll find you later!" Solo
said waved before heading off with Lyall.
"Ya know, there's only a few hours till school starts. I guess a
little sleep is better than zero. I'll probably need caffeine to
function for school. Do you like coffee or caffeine laced soda?
I'll bring one when I meet you later if you'd like," Solo
offered as they entered the dorms. "What floor are you on? I'm
       on the second floor,"
