       Gamble (fixing)

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Daevon awoke from his sleep by the ways of the sun. His cousin
having drawn back the very curtains that kept the blinding light
out.”come on!” He mumbled as the girl huffed, her metal arms
making their noises as she moved.”it’s time to get up Dae!” She
said as she went over.”don’t make me use it on you..” she said
her hand going out toward her older cousin. The man’s eyes flew
open.”I’m up! I’m up don’t do it! We just got this bed dried
yesterday!!” He said as he slid out. His feet hit the wood floor
as he sighed. He really didn’t want to get up today- but she was
right. He needed to work and pay of the debts that wasn’t even
       theirs to begin with.
He rustled up to rub his head as she sighed at him.”get showered
and dressed! Breakfast is ready.” She said before slamming the
door behind her. The man that was in his boxers chuckled. *At
least .. she never lost her attitude.* He thought.
The morning continued as the two spoke of their day coming up,
Rachel took off to work at the local flower shop- she worked at
picking it up to earn it honestly.
Him on the other hand was heading to the automotive section. He
mostly worked at taking apart steam bikes, cars, whatever he
could to sell it to the black market- keeping quiet from Rachel
as he wanted to get them out of their clutches as fast as he
       could.
He walked with Rachel who had a happy look on her face.”can’t
wait to see what orders come in today! It’s a busy time of the
day! “ she said cheerfully. It was one of romance and love- so
most would get flowers for the ones they held dearly.
“Have a good day Rachel.” He said with a smile before he started
to move away to where he would be working.
Like most of the town Boddy lived in, the man was up with the
call of the rooster, beckoning him from the yard and demanding
he wake up and feed the animals. He sighed to himself as he
reluctantly got up and went about his morning chores long before
his grandmother could stir in bed.
He had her breakfast laid out for here before he got ready for
work and headed out. It seemed he could never keep track of the
time properly as he rushed to his job at the flower shop,
breathing a sigh of relief when he found he was the first to
arrive. No one had to know he was just a little late.
He rushed about getting the floral shop open and ready for
business, having just finished setting up when his coworker
       arrived.
"Morning Rach, having a good morning?" He questioned cheerfully
as he worked on a new arrangement of flowers for a display.
River had forgone pretending to go to a home to sleep for the
night, opting to work on a vehicle that was giving him far more
trouble than he was used to. He had gotten so sucked into his
problem with the engine that he didn't even notice that other
were arriving at the shop to work for a new day.
"River... did you even go home last night?" One coworker
questioned before getting a look from the man. "No, too much
work to do..." He murmured before resuming his work.
Rachel made a big smile.”yup! Didn’t have to dump water on dae
this morning- he actually moved.” She said with a chuckle.
“How’s your morning going?” She questioned as her eyes shifted
to the flowers.”you really do good work.” She said with a soft
smile before working on the few smaller arrangements.
       ——
Daevon came in a bit later, his eyes looking over the work area.
He took notice of River- looking like he was stuck again, he
sighed a little at it. While he wasn’t too terribly chummy with
the mafia- his empathy for those that can’t drop things and take
       a break kicked in.
”River you really should take a break- if it’s that hard lemme
look at it.” He said with a flat look. “Get something to eat
man.” He added with a blink.
"Well! That's progress, now you just need him to start waking up
to an alarm. Henry is an excellent alarm. Have you considered
getting a rooster?" Boddy questioned before a massive smile came
to his lips at the complement. "Thanks, I certainly try," he
       mused as he continued.
"Have you seen Lacy recently?" He questioned before chattering
on about the latest gossip that had been going around lately.
"One of these days it will catch up with her..." He complained
as he finished his spill of gossip as customers slowly started
       to stop by.

"I'll take a break when I'm in the grave, though... you taking a
look probably wouldn't hurt. I've run all the diagnostics, taken
the whole thing apart twice and still can't figure out why it
won't start...." River complained, brushing off the man's urging
to take a break and eat.
If only the man knew he didn't need to sleep or eat like humans
did, though, if he were honest he never truly understood *what*
       he was.
Rachel couldn’t help but chuckle at boddy.”I would but he
claimed he’d cook and eat it if I did.” She said as she placed a
vase down. “No I have not?” She said as her face fluctuated at
the news.”swear that girl cheats on men as much as my cousin
cheats at cards.” She said with a huff before hearing the
       customers.
       ———
“You know it’s not a healthy mindset..” said daevon. He took
over to look his hands working over. He found the problem as he
looked at a wire that triggered the ignition.”seems it fried.. “
he mumbled and went to where parts were to pick a wire. He
connected the replacement and went around to start it. It roared
to life.”there ya go…” he said to chuckle with a smirk. “Were
you seriously up all night? Do you ever sleep?” He asked as he
       slid out of the car.
The gossip was put on pause while the pair catered to the
customers. It seemed after that they were quite busy, unable to
gossip more outside of brief spells of quiet.
Bobby found himself absolutely swamped with arrangement
requests, so when a local girl rolled up to flirt with him, the
poor guy didn't know how to get her to go away without hurting
       her feelings.
"Look... I'm flattered... but...." Bobby would start before the
girl started again. "Oh come on, don't play hard to get!" She
       said with dismissive irritation.

"You have made me aware if that the last twenty times you have
told me," River said with a grumpy air to his voice. He watched
Dae work, his eyes widening when the man so easily fixed the
       issue.
"Nope, never slept in my life," River said in a joking tone,
even if he was being quite serious. "I'll sleep when I'm in the
grave, get it all out of the way at once," he teased as he
started making notes on the diagnostics board and paperwork for
       the engine.
"I clearly had been staring at that stupid thing for too long...
thanks for the help." He added, offering his hand to shake. "Can
buy you a drink tonight as a thank you," he added with a
chuckle. Most people avoided him due to the bad vibes and
entirely expected Dae to reject the offer like any other human
       would.
Rachel was helping out the excess of customers. When she heard a
female voice. Her head swiveled to see Bobby trying to politely
shoo a girl away and sighed.”some people don’t learn.” She said
before slipping behind the girl her metal hand weighing on the
       girls shoulder.
“He isn’t- he simply isn’t interested and is trying to be nice!
“ she said to see the girl whirl. Her hand went back as she took
in the face as it twisted in judgement. Seeing her metal hand
like that. The girl gave a sigh.”please finish with your
purchases- your holding up the line.” She said calmly she
watched as the girl huffed. And walked off as she heard the mild
       insult.
“You okay Bobby?” She asked ignoring the huffing girl. She felt
for him- the guy seemed adorable and a magnet for girls a lot do
       the time.
       ——
Daemon shook his head- “you should try sometime- it’s pretty
restful.” He joked as he went to get some tools.”long as your
buying- “ he said with a half smirk.
Relief came in the form of Rachel saving Bobby from the woman.
'Thank you' he mouthed to the woman when she looked at him.
The rest of their shift was far more quiet in comparison, and by
the time things finally settled down down and they had the last
customer leave, Bobby melted into a chair.
"My feet hurt..." He complained to himself. "Thanks for the save
earlier, don't think she was ganna take no for an answer." He
       said with a sigh.
       ---
"Wouldn't be much of a thank you if I made you buy your own
drinks," River said with a slight chuckle. The look of surprise
in his eyes was impossible to hide, so instead he averted his
gaze. He didn't need the guy thinking he was friendless, having
to remind himself that it didn't matter.
Once things calmed down, Rachel began to sweep a little of the
floor to chuckle some toward Bobby.”it was busy, and no problem-
it’s not your fault- you just got a cute face anyone would flock
to- think it was the third time this week?” She said, as she
       swept it out the door.
Her eyes went up seeing a man smoking as she felt a breath
leave. She turned to get back inside.”would you like some
water?” She asked with a small chipper tone as she made her way
to the s a small room that was treated like a break room finding
a few cups to go to the sink to fill them up. she walked over to
       hold one out.
       ——
“You’d be suprised the last guy thanking me left me with a bill
and then some.” He said with a sigh. Daevon took in the suprise,
he mentally kept the face burned in his mind.
“If anything gotta let Rachel know I’m going out. So she knows.”
He said as their code knock came to mind. It was means to keep
her safe- least in his mind.
“Feel like small bar?- I know it makes the best drinks. It’s
called arms of steel.” He said to chuckle some.
"Why did I have to be cursed with such good looks? Water would
be a God sent." Bobby said, rather dramatically. When his
coworker returned with the cup of water, he gladly accepted it,
guzzling it down. He hadn't realized just how thirsty he had
       been until that moment.
"What am I going to do without you when you finally move on to
bigger better things? Probably be forced into some marriage," he
       joked, cracking himself up.

"What a dickbag, I'm fine with a small bar. We can meet up there
after work." River said as his expression allowed for a small
pleased smile, which promptly caused him to pull his medical
mask over his mouth and nose.
"Better get back to work, don't want you getting ragged on just
because you helped me." He said as he worked on getting the car
back on it's wheels as the diagnostics ran on the car to check
       for any other issues.
Rachel chuckled rather softly.”bigger and better hm? Maybe I’ll
stay here and continue to sell flowers.” She told him.”and keep
the girls off you-“ she joked with a smile.
Despite her smile and cheery demeanor- a feeling of dread hit.
The guy that was across the street was gone but she had a
feeling. A feeling she had seen him before.”so- what would you
like for lunch? My treat.” Said Rachel with a wider grin.
       ——
“Sounds good, and your one to talk all nighter.” He commented
back at the man. “Just call me if you need help!” He said as he
gotten to work. Seeing that smile made some butterfly’s flutter
briefly as he inwardly wondered why he was crushing on the guy.
The man had a thing for men and River was bout damn near his
type. Save for the mafia connection.
By the time they were finishing up. He had washed his hands.”I’m
gonna make a quick phone call over to the flower shop that’s
not far River- gonna let Rachel know I’m goin’ out.” He said.
Rachel who was helping clean up heard the phone to answer in a
most sing song voice. “This is rainbow flower shop! I’m sorry
but we are closing soon but if you need an order done by
tomorrow or so I could note it!” She said.
“Do you ever breathe with that mouthful.” Asked Daevon.
Rachel blushed a bit.”ah- habit we do get last minute orders you
know!” She said with a puff.
After a bit of back and forth she hung up.”seems dae gots
drinking buddy tonight.” She said with a sigh.”is there anything
else that needs to be done Bobby?” She asked.
Meanwhile Daevon had hung up his end.”so we walkin’ or driving?”
He asked River, his eyes couldn’t help but eye the man’s ass for
a few seconds before shooting up in an attempt at being caught
       ogling.
"Mmmmm lunch, certainly know your way to my heart," Bobby mused
before a thought had him sitting up fully, "ohhh what about some
fish tacos? I can't remember the last time we went and got some
and that is a crime in my book!" He said with a wide grin,
suddenly reviverated and back on his feet. Food was always an
excellent motivator for him, especially a free meal.
       ---
"Ain't no rest for the wicked," River teased as he got into the
driver's seat and headed off once the readout came back clean.
He then fell back into work quite easily, managing to finish
several job tickets before the day was over.
Normally, River would have just kept working, but he was
reminded of his evening plans when Daevon made a point to tell
him he would be calling his sister before they left.
"Oh... right, yeah... I'll finish up..." He said, working only a
little longer before packing up his tools and packing up by the
time his companion for the night returned.
"Well, considering we will be drinking, probably best we don't
drive." He commented as he finished cleaning up, well, as best
he could. Nothing short of a proper shower would get him
       properly cleaned up.
His eyebrow raised when he saw Dae suddenly look away. What had
he been looking at? He pushed the thought away for now. "Lead
the way to your little bar," he suggested with a smirk on his
       lips, hidden behind the mask.
“Walking it is, “ said Daevon. “Alright, just don’t fall for me
as I walk away.” He joked a bit. The two began their stroll,
making their way down the ally.
       —-
She turned her head a bit to loop her arm in Bobby’s. “Yanno
let’s grab dinner- if dae can go out- so can I” she said with a
grin.”plus eating alone is so boring.” She said with a small
       look.
A man with glasses that seemed closer to her from the Peripheral
of her eyes. His brown slicked hair and face gave it away.. in
       not a good way.
She pulled him away from the man and headed down the street to
the corner that would go a ways down to where her brother
       worked.
Once across she gave a half truth.”that guy is giving me creep
vibes- mind sticking with for a bit?” She asked as she eyed the
guy from the corner of her eye.. the man clearly staring *bobby*
       down.
Her hand made a small noise as she heard the squeal of a
car.”****!” Said Rachel before tugging Bobby.”run and don’t
stop!” She said as they took off, she wheeled down the nearby
ally that she knew her cousin took daily, right after dropping
       her off.
She hoped on some level they were lucky and he hadn’t left yet,
but even then- while the girl gave ignorance- she wasn’t dumb-
it be a place to hide at least.
"I'll try to control myself, no promises," River teased with a
wink before they began to make their way to the mentioned bar.
Or at least, they tried to.
The pair had just started down the street when he spotted a pair
running as fast as they could away from something. He had seen
Daevon's sister on occation and recognized her rather quickly.
"Isnt.... isn't that your sister?" Rover questioned with a fresh
look of concern coloring his features when he noticed the panic
       in their eyes.
       ---
"Two meals in a row?? Rachel! You are ganna spoil me! How will I
learn to survive in the wild if you keep feeding me?" Bobby
joked as they closed up the shop to head out. He gave no
resistance to her looping their arms together and half draging
       him down the road.
He could tell Rachal was uneasy with the mention of the creepy
guy but was still quite surprised when she urged him to run when
       they heard screeching tiers.
He did his best to keep up with her, thankfully soon the woman's
       cousin was quickly in view.
Daevon had chuckled, liking River a bit more. He felt there had
to be lore to some of the people in the group. He wondered if it
was possible to find happiness this way.
He heard river and noticed his cousin racing down the ally. “No
my cousin..” he corrected before seeing the car squeezing back.
He could see her clinging to Bobby and half dragging the man
with her. She knew she would have to explain herself later but
she shouted the only thing she could.”it’s Maverick!” She
shouted. Daevon’s eyes flew open. He remembered the pain Rachel
went through when they thought they were going to get
information from him- not knowing how much of the family didn’t
know of their father to one and uncle to another’s sins.
The name was only known to the mafia and the two - as he was the
doctor that seemingly vanished with their father. The car found
a natural block in a form of a pole that often didn’t let people
go down further. Two men came out their guns coming up.Rachel
about tackled Bobby to the ground at the first shot.”don’t hurt
the pale haired one- we need that one.” Said one gruffly before
       the shots began to fly.
Daevon hearing this had shoved River back to avoid the man from
being shot as well before rolling to take off. He got his
lighter out and it it before he shot it out at a man essentially
combusting him on fire. Later another would shoot it out of his
       hand.
Bobby was half sure he was going to fall as his legs threatened
to give out, it seemed to be something he wouldn't have to worry
about though as Rachal tackled him to the ground as a shot went
off. "What the hell is going on??" He questioned, terror clear
in his voice as he realized the men with guns were after him.
       The big question being why?
River's eyes went very wide when he heard gun shots, but before
he could react, Daevon had shoved him back into the shop. He
felt his heart pounding in his chest at a fresh swell of anxiety
when he heard more shots fired. River looked around the shop
quickly, spotting a water pipe and rushed over.
A few tweaks later and River had the firehydrant in the street
busting and coating the attackers in a layer of ice, watching
       his work through the window.
He came rushing back out of the shop moments later. "We can go
out the back of the shop, come on. I know a safe place to hide
out." He urged, feeling a sudden desire to help them. It was
odd, wanting to help, he had never cared so much about the
       wellbeing of humans before.
Rachel covered his head more and said.”I’ll explain later.” To
peek at Daevon fighting, thanks to River, he took care of the
rest of the issue. He heard River to nod.”come on you two.” He
said to immediately scoop up Rachel who made a pained noise. He
stopped and noticed a torn spot on her coat .”I got grazed
promise..” she said.”still hurt though!” She said as the man
helped up Bobby.”it’s best we get safe and we can explain.” He
said before taking a brief look back at the death behind him.
He then rushed the two with river, making their way to the place
       to hide.
Once safe Rachel let a breath out. She shuffled her coat off and
went to unbutton her vest and shirt. She took a look at her
side.”see just grazed..” she said letting a nervous relieved
laugh. She turned to Bobby.”are you hurt?.. are you.. okay?…”
       she asked .
Daevon was attempting to calm down but he clearly was
upset.”that sick sonnofabitch!” He said as his head was in his
       hands.
River swiftly lead the trio through the back of the shop before
checking if the coast was clear before he lead them through
several ally ways, even back tracking a couple of times to
insure they wernt followed before he even considered heading to
       their true destination.
He brought them to the only place he knew for sure was safe, the
place he went when he wasn't working to hide from those who
would control him. It was a massive warehouse that looked long
abandoned, they even had to sneak in through a broken panel on
       the side of the building.
Once inside, River pulled out a flashlight and led them up a
hidden flight of stares and up to the loft River had made for
       himself over the years.
"We should be safe here." He told them as he switched on a
proper light before taking a seat on the cot that passed as
River's bed. He almost never used it but he liked having it
       regardless.
Bobby hadn't made a noise outside of a pained one when he was
pulled to his feet but made no further complaints as he followed
after Rachal and her cousin being led by a stranger to Bobby.
Bobby leaned against the nearest wall when they finally stopped
running and let himself slide down as he held his upper left
arm. "I.... don't know... I.... think I might have gotten
hit...." He admitted, earning a heavy sigh from River who went
to grab the med kit he kept on hand for situations like this.
Usually he was cleaning up his own wounds though.
Rachel got close and made a worried look. She took the kit and
began working on it- she tore off his sleeve and inspected the
wound. Her eyes flickered a bit before Daevon took over to get
the bullet out. “Thankfully it didn’t hit anything important.”
       He said and sighed.
Rachel helped with the other things and finished off bandaging
       Bobby.
“Take your time..” said Rachel. She seemed a bit deep in thought
remembering several things Bobby and her gabbed about. She
wondered if he was target partly due to him having only his
       grandmother.
“Sorry for the shove River- that man been known to experiment on
people, the fact he was here and after this guy- probably became
their next target..” he said as Rachel quietly said.”he only has
his grandmother… I think their targeting people who would barely
be missed, or with people that are by themselves..” she said.
“And if he’s involved.. means ..” her face made a pained look.
       Daevon looked over.”don’t finish that.”
Bobby nearly bit through his lip feeling Daevon and Rachel
poking around his wound and even digging the bullet out. The
shot of 'pain medication' River did not inform them it was in
fact ketemine. It fully kicked in right before the pain got
*really* bad and he was out of it after that, leaning back
against the wall as he closed his eyes. "Thanks Rach...." Bobby
mumbled out. "You are suuuuuch a good frieeeeennd" He continued,
       now extraordinarily high.
River's attention went from the injured guy back to Daevon when
the man apologized for shoving him. "Don't worry, I'll get you
back, might not be today, might not be tomorrow, but *sooon*." He
teased before frowning at just how those people had been and
then finding out they were targeting people who were on their
       own made his jaw clinch.
"Well, he can heal up here for a while.... doubt anyone but me,
and now you guys know about this place... might need to get more
K if he ganna be here though..." He said with a sigh knowing it
wouldn't be safe for the guy to leave at the moment. "Unless
yall plan on trying to take him to a doctor." He added.
Rachel gave a gentle look. “I’m glad you think of me that way.
Just sit tight okay?” She said as she shuffled to button up her
       shirt and vest.
“It’ll be best for a doctor, but we can’t leave him alone..
least not right now.” Said Daevon. “River- think you can give us
a hand with this?” He questioned. He could see how Rachel fussed
a bit over Bobby. The guilt clearly flickering back and forth as
she cleaned up what she could.
“His grandmother will be wondering where he is.” Said Rachel.”I
think it’s best if you guys take him there- I’ll get to his home
for now and make sure she’s okay.” She said with a small look.
Daevon sighed.”I don’t think it’s wise for you to go alone
either..” he started for her to cut him off.
“They could have gotten to his home to try to get him too you
know! -and she’s all that he has left!” Rachel said her face
       giving a serious look.
"Sure, how about you go with your cousin, he is going to be out
of it for a while so I could probably get him into the back of a
car I have hidden down stairs and get him over to his house.
Would just need to directions." River suggested.
"If they are waiting at home boy's house, you will need back up.
I'm good at sneaking around, I'll keep him safe for ya." He
       assured.
Rachel blinked. “As long as you keep him safe.. “ she said
softly. “Come on Bobby- let’s get you to the car..” she said for
Daevon to pick the smaller man up.”it’ll be faster this way.”
“I’ll tell you where to go- he lives in the countryside- it’s a
small house a soft blue.. so it’ll be hard to miss.” She said as
       she helped prepare to leave.
River nodded his head in understanding, "alright, follow me," he
instructed as he led them back down stairs and pulled a few
panels off of a sheet that hid the car before removing that as
       well.
He then opened the back door, helping Daevon lay the guy down in
the back seat before throwing a blanket over the guy to hide
him. "You two go, I won't be far behind," he told the pair as he
       closed the car door.
After some time of getting to their destination, the two came
out as Rachel went for the house. Her eye saw a black car as
frowned.”not their car?” He asked as he saw her shake her head.
As they neared they heard voices and a frightened older woman.
The two snuck to the window that was open. Hearing the
questions. Rachel watched as Daevon jumped inside and barreled
into a man. Rachel popped in to get to the older woman.”Rachel!”
She heard.”come on Mrs fields, Bobby is waiting..” she said as
she helped the woman untie her hands.”dae can you carry her ?”
The man nodded to get her up and out of the window..
the few men that were left from another part of the house came
out of the door as one hung out the other window to shoot, only
to earn a fire hose like water from Rachel’s hand.”run!” She
       shouted to take off.
River got the car stealthily out of the warehouse before
properly getting in the driver's seat and heading out of the
town and into the country side. He couldn't remember the last
time he had driven out of the town and found himself enjoying
       the drive a little.
It wasn't long before he pulled up to the little blue house,
easily spotting Daevon and Rachel running before hearing shots
fired. River's eyes widened as he realized this place was far
       from safe at the moment.
Daevon noticed the car to quickly make his way as Rachel turned
to fight back, while the girl was petite, her metal arms did
their damage to the men, breaking the arm of one to dodge
another. Daevon had his hands full and trying to avoid others -
not noticing that the elderly woman had taken the hit. He
assumed she had passed out from what was going on.
River rushed out of his car, going around to open the doors to
let Daevon and Rachel and company get in, unfortunately, he felt
a bullet rip through his back and come out of his stomach,
causing River to fall to the ground, he couldn't compose himself
quickly enough as the enemy quickly overtook the car, and
snatched a still high Bobby from the back of the car before
stuffing him in a trunk and speeding off.
River was back on his feet, trying to run after them but it was
too late, they were gone. "****..." He complained as he held a
hand to the bleeding wound on his stomach as blood soaked
through the back and front of his shirt showing off where the
bullet had hit him. There was no hiding this wound from the
humans. "I'm so sorry...." He told the others when they finally
got to where he was at.
His eyes were drawn to the elderly woman who, to him, didn't
exactly look alive. "Is... she alive?" He questioned with a
worried expression. Surly Daevon wasn't hauling a dead body for
       fun.
Daevon saw the shot.”**** river!” He said as things seemed to
turn for the worst, Rachel was occupied at taking out the gunner
       as the man got close.
Course when he heard sorry he made a rather shocked expression.
“Sorry! You just got shot! Through the gut!” He started. He
heard the man’s words and looked over. He got her down on the
ground and felt for a pulse.. he felt nothing, it was then he
noticed the shot that nailed her from the back of the head.
Rachel had seen Bobby getting taken to panic.. and the fact
river was shot she was sure he had died. But seeing the man
getting the **** up and apologizing was surreal.. so much so
the question didn’t register. It was almost as she had gone into
       shock.
“You’re still alive, River let’s get you to a damn doctor!
You’re bleeding out!” Explained Daevon now just panicked.

The frown on Rivers lips deepened when it was confirmed that the
elder was dead before all attention was focused on as he raised
his hand up that wasn't holding his stomach in an attempt to get
the pair out of this panicked state.
"Woah woah woah, take a breath, I'll be fine," he reassured,
not used to *anyone* worrying about him like this.
“Fine? Fine!! River your holding your guts in! How is that
fine!?!” Said Daevon as he was questioning his own reality.
Rachel seemed more quiet before she felt something hit..
something familiar.”let’s at least bandage it up.. your bleeding
everywhere..” she said acting weirdly calm. Daevon looked at her
and could see her shock. It was like she was scrambling some
semblance with common sense. “T..then figure out how to get
Bobby back..” she said in a pained tone. “Maverick.. if he uses
Bobby..” her arms went around herself. She could remember how
sick she felt and how long her own suffering was. Even then as a
child she thought she had her mother’s illness- but was far from
it. Daevon was already pulling his shirt off, “yeah gotta stop
the bleeding..” he said as he still couldn’t understand how this
guy was treating it like he scraped his knee.
River rolled his eyes at the response of the pain, taking his
own shirt off and wrapping it around the wounds. "There, happy
now? Load up in the car, we can head to the loft... I'll even
let you bandage me up if that makes you feel better but
seriously, I'll be fine... you don't need to stress over me..."
He said after securing his shirt.
"Come on," he told them, motioning to his car that had a few new
bullet holes. "Don't know what you two want to do with your...
dead friend..." He said as his eyes went to the elder missing
       the back of her skull.
“..Daevon.. can you.. uhm…” Rachel stammered.”burn her body..
the animals will eat her..“ Daevon looked over to see she looked
pale.”and River says he’s okay.. we can fix him up and..” her
       voice breaking a little.
Daevon made work of burning Bobby’s grandmother. “Fine but I’m
driving river- you.. just.. stay calm!” He said more or less
saying it to River - when it really was for himself.
He got in the car to drive and he could hear Rachel breaking
down in the back. It don’t be long till they were back at rivers
place and Daevon trying to help patch up river with Rachel’s
help.”your not human.. are you?” Rachel asked quietly.
She had a feeling she knew what River was. It was something that
her father attempted to achieve but she couldn’t help but feel
there was more to his work.. but River was the closest being
what she thought he was attempting to achieve.
Daevon managed to get the man’s middle to stay in place to look
       at the woman.
A grumpy expression came across River's features as he crossed
his arms before leaning on the car. "Yeah yeah whatever you can
drive..." He said with an eye roll at being told to be calm when
he was the only calm one among them.
When the body had been taken care of, River got into the
passenger seat, putting his feet up onto the dashboard behaving
as if he didn't have a gapeing hole through his torso.
It wasn't long before the trio got back to the wearhouse where
River hid the car before going up stairs to the loft and letting
Daevon fuss over him. He gave Rachel a surprised look when she
accused him of not being human before letting out a heavy sigh.
"Suppose there is no use lying about it.... no, I'm not
human.... think that was what my creators intentions were.... to
       make me a human.... I'm... a Humunculus... from what I know, I
was created when someone tried to bring a person back from the
dead.... never successful... I don't really... remember a lot
before I woke up in this wearhouse...." He admitted, feeling
like he had no choice but to divulge his secret to the two, he
hoped his trust wouldn't be in vain.
Rebel's head jerked up at the sound of squealing tires and
cautiously peered out of his makeshift hiding spot in the back
alley. His eyebrows narrowed as he watched several bloodied and
wounded thugs pile out of a small car. Even from this far back
he could hear their curses and complaints about being surprised
       by strange inhumans.
Rebel had been watching the warehouse for weeks now and had seen
a lot of crazy **** going down. Even so, he wasn't going to miss
the opportunity the thugs had just given him.
In their hurry to see to their wounds, they'd left the door and
gate unlocked. Everything inside was now fair game for the
       Street Rat and thief.
Pulling his hood over his head, he glanced around before he
snuck into the old warehouse. He found a few tools laying around
that he shoved into his well worn messenger bag. Then he made
his way over to the car, which had been left unlocked.
It took him a few moments to remove the radio, and a few pieces
from under the hood. Then he went to the trunk to see if there
was other items he could grab as well.
His eyes widened when he found a young white haired guy inside.
He froze for a moment, then heard footsteps coming back out.
"Hurry, we gotta get out of here now!" He said reaching in and
yanking the other out of the trunk.
“I figured.. you didn’t go down with something that most living
things would die from.” Rachel said quietly.”nothing at all?”
She asked and seemed to fall into thought.
Daevon seemed shocked. “Explains why you never seem to sleep.”
       He said with a sigh.
“Now what do we do?” Asked Rachel. “Bobby been taken.. I really
       liked him…”
The pair were shocked, but they wernt running away and River
counted that as a win. "Well.... I remember a few names...
and... a vague sense that I've been running from... something...
gave myself a new name and tried to blend in." River said before
his eyes softened at Rachel's question.
"I'm sorry... I should have done more to protect him.... if we
can figure out where they took him we can always try and get him
back. If we are quick... maybe he will still be himself." He
suggested, finding himself trying to comfort the girl.
"Once I'm all patched up we can take my car out to look around,
maybe we will find something?" He suggested.
       ---
Bobby had been entirely out of it during the car ride to his
home, too high to even register the gun shots as he was yanked
out of the back of the car and tossed into a trunk.
He didn't start to come to until he was slammed into the seats
by a sudden stop. By the time the men were gone, Bobby was
trying to figure out where he was. That was when the trunk
opened by a handsome blue eyed man who looked just as surprised
       as Bobby felt.
After a moment of silence the guy spoke in a panicked tone for
them to get out of where they were at, even going as far as to
yank Bobby up by his arm, thankfully not the one he had been
       shot in.
He didn't question anything in that moment and followed after
his savior as quickly as he could manage as he was coming down
       from his high.
Rebel heard a yell from behind them and pulled the guy down
behind a pillar as gunshots rang out.
"**** hell, I knew these guys were psycho, stay close," Rebel
told the other man and darted off again.
It was a bit of a harrowing game of cat and mouse for awhile
until Rebel pulled the stranger down into one of his hidden
underground tunnels. "Shh," he murmured, pressing the other
against a wall, waiting for their pursuers to pass overhead.
Finally he relaxed when the men wandered off and drew back to
look over the other man closely. That's when he noticed the
       other's wounded arm.
"Come on I've got a kit somewhere down here." Reb said and
motioned for the guy to follow him.
Being used to living in the underground tunnels the rats, bugs
and trash didn't bother him all that much. The traveled a short
way before finally stopping at a small space covered in
cardboard, with a few supplies off to one corner.
"Have a seat, and I'll work on your arm. You got any family? I
can help you find them, for a small fee of course," Reb said as
he grabbed a small tin container and reached for the other guys
       arm.
Rachel listened and felt for river. Being made and not knowing
who or what you were.. felt tough.”it’s not your fault.. in a
way you were still hurt and things happened.. I just hope he’s
still himself. If that creep changes him to a half animal or the
half baked plan of a humunculous - I’ll murder that man myself!”
       She stated with a glower.
Daevon finished up what he was doing. His eyes making sure he
got the bullets out.”how fast do you heal?” He asked with a
       gentle look.

A soft smile crossed River's lips at Rachel's attempt to make
him feel better. He understood her desire to hurt those who hurt
who she cared about. Before he could mentally fall into all the
things he didn't have, Daevon asked about his healing.
"Well, depends on the injury, should just be a scar in a few
days, I know it is faster than humans, but... in all honestly I
don't know much about human healing." River said as he got to
his feet and looked at himself in the mirror, "Thanks for the
patch job, think I owe you more than a drink at this point,"
River said before grabbing a shirt out of a basket sitting on
the floor in the corner of the loft and slipped it on.
       "You two ready?" He questioned.
       ---
Bobby stuck to his savior like glue, especially when he heard
the gunshots ring out. He obeyed every oder the raven haired
man gave him as they tried to get away, finally escaping into a
swere tunnel where the man pushed him against the wall get a
blush out of Bobby as he silently waited for their pursuers to
       go by.
Bobby took in a much needed breath when the man pulled away
mentioning a kit of some kind. He didn't need to be told twice
to follow after the guy, taking a seat when told.
"My Grandma is the only family I have... I hope those guys
didn't go to my house... this... is the second time today they
were after me... thank you for saving me.... my name is Bobby...
whats... yours?" He answered before asking the man's name.
Rebel concentrated on the man's wounded arm, relieved that the
gunshot hadn't caused more damage. "The second time you say?
That's kind of weird. Laying low for awhile might be smart.
Maybe even moving somewhere new," he suggested as he pulled out
bandages and some rubbing alcohol to clean the wound.
"Call me Reb it's short for Rebel. This is gonna hurt like
hell, curse me out all ya want," Reb replied, giving the other
warning before pouring the rubbing alcohol over the wound.
       "Sorry all out of peroxide,"
“Mm well I know we don’t heal from wounds like these- we die.”
Said Daevon. The man chuckled.”we may even out if we can get
       Bobby again.” He said.
“Yeah we are.. Angel think you can handle it?” He asked the
young woman by her nickname. “I can.. didn’t train for nothing
you know.” She said flatly. “You sure you’ll be able to handle
things river? Remember even you need a little time.” She said
understandably. While he acted like he simply skid his knee. To
see anyone move just fine like that made her wonder if he felt
       pain.”your not in pain still?”
River couldn't help his own chuckle at Rachel's worrying over
him. "It's sweet of you to worry, yes of course it still hurts,
       it's a gunshot wound. Though, I suspect I don't feel pain quite
like you do. The worst of it was when it first happened, as my
body repairs itself it hurts less and less. I'm not all that
worried about me, I will heal, your friend may not, let's get
going." He said, getting far more serious as he finished
       talking.
"Besides, of I take anything for the pain there is a chance it
could prevent me form driving or whatever the hell else we need
to do to get your boyfriend back." He added with a shrug before
grabbing the car keys and heading down the stairs.
       ---
"I.... probably can't afford to pay you for your help.... Ow!"
Bobby had began to speak when Rebel started tending to his arm.
The rough treatment from the thugs who had taken him causing the
would to bleed more. He was grateful for Redel's help, clenching
his teeth as the wound was cleaned.
"Do you live down here?" He couldn't help but ask, an attempt to
distract himself from the pain he was currently in.
"don't worry about that right now. I'm good with food or
anything really. We can figure something out that benefits us
both," Rebel replied with a shrug.
He knew just how badly the stuff hurt: having been shot before.
"I've got some pain pills if ya need one," Rebel added as he
moved to rummage through one of his other bags under some
blankets he'd stashed in his hideaway.
"When I need to. I've got different spots all over the city that
I can use to lay low." Reb replied not really caring what Bobby
might think of his living situation.
After a bit of rummaging he pulled out a bag of oxycodone pills,
a water bottle and two granola bars. "You want in on any of
       this?"
Rebel settled back, tearing one of the bars open and started
eating it in small bites , eyeing Bobby's soft features closely.
Rachel blushed a bit at the compliment of her being sweet.
Hearing him speak about how he heals and how the pain goes away
as it heals made her wonder. She nodded to get going with
       Daevon.
“If driving’s the case I can take that.” Said Daevon. Rachel had
blushed hard at the boyfriend comment.”h..he’s not my boyfriend
just.. really.. close..“ she stammered as Daevon took notice of
       how she was.
He gave a chuckle.”your so easy to read.” He said as the nail
came down.”you really should just tell him how you feel.”
Rachel found her voice as she got in the car.”you know how hard
that is? He’s been hit on by a few girls and he’s turned them
all down- some twice..” she said settling in the back as Daevon
held his hand out for the keys before he started the car once
River was in.”mmhmm…” he said his brows raising.
River sighed, rolling his eyes at Daevon's seeming
protectivness, he didn't have the energy to argue at the moment
as he went back into the loft and dug out a bottle of pills,
taking a few before doing some water and following the two down
       stairs.
Hearing Rachel voice that Bobby wasn't her boyfriend, then
defend not asking him out had River laughing as he got in the
car. "Maybe, he is turning the other girls down because he likes
*you*." River teased. "Besides, what is the worst that could
happen? He says no? Watch, I'll show you," River said with a
       smirk on his lips.
"Yo, Daevon, want to be my boyfriend?" He questioned, fully
expecting the man to tell him no or have some form of negitive
reaction but had already turned back to face Rachel, "see?
       Easy."
       ---
"If you take payment in food, I could cook for you... when I'm
not... ya know... hiding in the sewer with a gunshot wound,"
Bobby said with a pained laugh. "Some pain meds would be a
       godsend," he added.
He watched Rebel dig around and come back to him with the
medication, water, and even some snacks. "Absolutely," he said
as he popped the pills into his mouth once out of the bottle and
downed it with a sip of water before opening his own granola
bar. "You have any family?" Bobby questioned, wanting to know
       more about his savior.
Rebel's eyebrows shot up at Bobby's suggestion of cooking for
him. Just the thought of home cooked food has his stomach growl.
Granola bars were okay and all, but real food was a rarity for
       Reb.
"Well rest up a bit, then I can help ya get home. My stomach
will gladly take ya up on cooked food,"
He gave Bobby a grin as he handed over the pills, water and
granola bar. "I think my dad is still alive, haven't seen or
talked to him in ages though," he said with a shrug, running his
tongue behind his lip piercings. "I do all right on my own."
Rachel blushed more and slid in the back seat. Course what
caught her off guard was Daevon.”why not? You’re a good guy…” he
said eyeing the man as Rachel blinked a bit.”anyone that has
your sense of humor huh?” She asked before he said with a
grin:”and a sweet ass.” Her metal hand rested on her face a
little.”excuse my cousin.. swear the filter gets used less and
less as time passes.” She said flatly. The car took off as they
began to look around.. scouring the city for Bobby.
River's head snapped back to Daevon when the man practically
said yes earning a deep blush from him. "Wait.... what? Really?"
He asked taken entirely off guard. Sure, River had a crush on
the guy for a while but had never dreamed the feelings could
actually be mutual. It seemed he needed to take his own advise
       more often.
His cheeks turned even redder when Daevon commented on River's
ass, earning a laugh from the man. "Filters are lame," he added
with a smirk, pleasantly surprised by the turn out of the
question. It certainly helped to keep the mood a little lighter
while they searched for the kidnapped Bobby.
       ---
Bobby's eyes were drawn to Rebel's lips when he saw one of the
piercings moving, averting his eyes when he realized he was
staring. He tried to focus on eatting before he laid down. "How
long have you been on your own? Sounds lonely to me..." He
commented as he closed his eyes trying to rest like Reb had
suggested after he had finished eatting.
He couldn't help but gaze at the handsome blue eyed man who
saved him. It wasn't often he found a guy as attractive Rebel,
he was easy on the eyes to say the least.
Rebel of course caught Bobby's staring at his lips and smirked a
bit. He moved a bit to give Bobby space to lay down, even
tossing a folded up blanket for the guy to put under his head.
The question kind of caught him off guard for a moment. It was
lonely living in the street, always wary of others and on edge.
"I've lost count of how long. It does get lonely, but that's the
price of survival on the streets. You can't really trust anyone.
Least not for long. Everyone always has ulterior motives."
He caught Bobby staring at him again and reached out to lay his
       hand on the other's thigh.
"You got a boyfriend? Or a girlfriend? Or just oogling me for
fun?" He couldn't help but tease a bit "me myself, I go both
ways," he added with a wink.
Daevon gave a smirk.”yes really. Telling me you been eyeing me
this whole time?” He asked at the blushing river with a chuckle.
Rachel looked about the area, giving hope that Bobby was alive
and well. At the same time.. her mind trying to figure out how
to tell him about his grandmother. She looked at Daevon and how
he flirted with River. Least she knew her cousin was finally
       connecting with someone.
"I mean, who doesn't in the shop? Best looking guy in the
building by a long shot," River admitted with a smirk. "Pretty
sure there is a running pole on if you are even single or not,"
he added with a chuckle. "Mean, clearly your not single now," he
added, smirking wide. Today was continuing to surprise him more
       and more.
"How you holding up back there Rachel?" River asked when she had
gone quiet for a while. He knew being in her own head wouldn't
       do anyone any good.
       ---
Bobby gladly accepted the blanket and put it under his head as
best he could as a pillow. He listened to Rebel talk about how
being alone had become nessisary because the guy didn't trust
anyone. He felt so sad at that though, not having anyone you
       trusted.
The hand on his thigh jerked Bobby out of his thoughts as his
pale cheeks burned a bright red. "I'm single right now......
can't really help that you are easy on the eyes. I... go both
ways myself..." He found himself admitting, blushing even more
at admitting such things. Something about those eyes drew Bobby
       in.
"I'm easy in the eyes?" Rebel couldn't help but laugh out,
looking almost incredulous at such a thought. "Okay then. You're
       pretty cute yourself,"
Rebel relaxed a bit, there was something about Bobby that put
him at ease. Maybe it was because the other wasn't from the
streets, and he was pretty cute with flushing cheeks.
"I'm probably gonna have to jack a car to get you out of here.
Can't have those thugs grabbing you yet again," he sighed. "I'll
be right back, try and rest up a bit more,"
He squeezed Bobby's leg before standing up and heading back the
       way he'd come.
Daevon went red at what he was being told.”they were what? Damn
I could have gotten in on that..” he joked trying to regain his
       composure.
Rachel blinked.”I’m okay- just worried.” She said with a smile.
Rachel’s eyes went wide to sink back in the seat recognizing
some men. They seemed to be looking and Maverick was there-
looking pissed.”he got away.. but he couldn’t have gone far..”
Rachel commented- “not with the gunshot wound.” She added before
they made their way around. They came to a spot as she slid out.
“We might have to split up… hopefully he hid himself well enough
to avoid them.. “ she said softly.
River chuckled at Daevon's teasing before noticed Rachel tense
up and sink into her seat. His eyes traveled to the men she had
       been looking at.
"You two stick together, I'll check around some hiding spots I
know." River said before he got out of the car. "Make sure you
lock up," he added to Daevon before he headed off.

You act like no one has ever told you how good looking you are,"
Bobby said, unable to help his chuckle. His own blush deepening
when the man sqeezed his leg after claiming he would steal a
car. It appeared Bobby had found himself a badboy and for some
reason it made him even more draw to the guy.
"Just.... be careful, you don't need to put yourself in any more
danger than you already have for me..." He said softly to
       Rebel's retreating form.
Rebel wasn't about to admit that Bobby was the first to say he
was good looking. Often times he was covered in dirt and grime
so not to stand out too much. He must be looking too clean at
       the moment.
"Most people don't look that closely," he said with a shrug.
He paused hearing Bobby's soft words and glanced back. "Hey, no
need to worry about me. I'll be back soon," he reassured the
       pretty boy.
Then he disappeared into the shadows, making his way through the
tunnel until he found the right grate that lead up to a few
       streets over from the warehouse.
Reb hadn't gone far when he heard someone heading his way. With
a curse muttered under his breath, he slid into a shadowy
alcove. It wasn't until the guy got closer that he heard the man
       calling out Bobby's name softly.
He blinked and then forced himself out behind the guy. "You know
Bobby?" He queried softly, not wanting his voice to carry to
       far.
He scrutinized the man for a moment, trying to make his mind up
about the guy. Could he trust him? Or was another of the thugs
from the warehouse? There was something oddly familiar about
       him.
Rachel nodded and began to walk with her brother.. softly
calling for Bobby. Her eyes looking more worried as they
progressed down the street. Daevon noticed some guys to gently
shove his cousin down an alleyway to avoid them and kept walking
as they peered at various people. “Bobby….” They would manage
periodically, while dodging the goons that were looking for the
       man that fled.
River stopped instantly when he heard a familiar voice asking if
he knew Bobby. "Yeah, I do," River said as he turned around,
easily able to recognize a street kid when he saw one. "Looking
for him because I need to help him find a place to hide, think
he got loose from the thugs who shot me and grabbed him... you
know anything about where he might be? White hair, blue eyes,
light blue sweater...." River said trying to tell the guy
everything he remembered about what Bobby looked like.
"His friends are looking for him with me, we want to get him
somewhere safe... I'm River," he added, hopeing that maybe he
had found a lead. Why else would this guy ask if he knew Bobby?
Rebel's eyes narrowed a bit, cautiously moving a bit closer as
he listened to the older guy. The voice sounded quite familiar,
and he was trying to place it.
"River?" He asked, his eyes widening a bit, the name finally
making things click in his head. "It's me...Rebel,"
It had been at a couple of years since they'd hidden out in a
dark sewer tunnel trying to wait out a blood thirsty gang.
They'd been stuck down there nearly two days before the gang had
       given up finding him.
"I know exactly where he is," he added and started back towards
the grate he'd come out of. "sounds like those guys are close
though, so we gotta be careful. They've tried to grab him more
than once already, what's that all about?"
Rebel quietly moved the grate and climbed down into the sewer,
waiting for River to follow. Then led him through the tunnels to
       where he'd left Bobby.
"Bobby, time to go. I found one of your friends," Rebel said
touching the other on the shoulder to wake him.
A wide smile crossed River's lips when the guy told him his
name. "Good to see you are still in one piece," he commented as
he followed Rebel into the sewer. Even after so much time had
passed, he was still vividly reminded of his time hiding in the
       dark with the man.
By the time they reached Bobby, River had sent Daevon a text
telling him to park in the alley that River had gone down,
informing the man he had found Bobby.
Bobby startled awake when Rebel returned and touched his
shoulder. He was relieved to see that Rebel had managed to find
Daevon's friend. "Oh good," he said, struggling a little to get
to his feet, using the sewer wall for support.
"Let's get you back to the surface and get you hidden away
somewhere you won't get ganggreen," River said with a joking
tone as he looked to Rebel, "you are welcome to come along," he
told the man as he started to headed back to where they had
       entered the sewer.
Rebel was a bit surprised by the smile River gave him. He
nodded, feeling a bit strange at the other's sentiment. No one
had ever really said anything like that before.
After seeing the relief on Bobby's face, Rebel moved to help
steady the guy as he got up. "The pain pill may be making you
       feel a bit woozy,"
Once again Rebel was shocked by River's offer, inviting him to
       join them.
"Uh, I'll think about it," he muttered. "Let's just get Bobby
       out of here first,"
He grabbed what he needed from his stash, shoving it into his
bag, and then helped River get Bobby up to the surface. The
waiting car had him gasping in appreciation.
"Nice ride," he breathed out slowly. He noted the other two
people, backing away a bit, a wary look on his face.
"Nice to meet you Bobby, stay safe, okay?"
Before he could second guess himself, Reb leaned in and kissed
Bobby a bit roughly on the lips. He pulled back, his face
flushing lightly. "uh... so can I hitch a ride with you? I just
need to get out of this area,"
The two started to come in and saw a man neither seen before.
Rachel’s eyes went wide as she saw the man kiss Bobby on the
       lips.
Daevon just about gaped himself to glance over at Rachel who
deflated a little. Her look telling him that this was why she
held back. She took a minute and found her voice.”it’s fine but
       - try asking before you kiss.. there’s this thing called
consent.” Said Rachel.”but thank you for saving Bobby..”
She got in the back with Bobby.”jump in the back.. might deal
with scary look from her for a while.” He warned rebel. He got
in the drivers seat to get ready to start. Their small group was
growing fast. He knew they would need to explain what happened
to Bobby.. and deliver the bad news. He looked back a bit at
Rachel, as she looked at Bobby’s arm.”this is good patch work..”
she commented and looked at rebel.
River was quite smug at Rebel's reaction to his car and smirk.
That look quickly wiped off his face and replaced with shock
when Rebel *kissed* Bobby. Well that put a wrench in the plan to
encourage Rachel to act on her feelings...
Bobby hadn't expected Rebel to lean in and kiss him, his eyes
going wide as his pale skin turned a bright red. "I... um...
okay... I'll try..." He said, quite dazed, only being pulled out
of it when he was guided into the car.
Rachel's reaction surprised him even more as she became
protective of him. It honestly brought a smile to his lips as he
       hugged the woman.
River gestured with his head for Rebel to get in the car before
getting in himself. "Can head back to my loft until we figure
out a safer spot to stash Bobby-boy." He said to Daevon as he
       relaxed into his seat.
Rebel was a bit surprised by the young woman speaking up and
blinked a bit. There was something about the way she spoke that
made him think he'd done something that made her sad. Did she
have a thing for Bobby maybe?
He shot her another look before getting in the back on the other
side of Bobby. His eyebrows shot up at her comment about his
work on Bobby's arm. "I am pretty handy at times, hot stuff," he
purred back. "So..you got a boyfriend? Or are you single too?"
Flirting was like breathing to Rebel. It was far more
comfortable to him than small talk. Plus, he did think she was
       just as cute as Bobby.
Rachel heard the man hit on her and her brow raised. But the
question that followed caught her by surprise.”first you kiss
Bobby, and then hit on me… are you even human?” She asked
incredulously. Her cheeks reddened with the idea that someone
even complimented her in that way.
Her eyes went to her hands. She dreamed of having a relationship
and hoped whoever held her hand.. didn’t mind the cool feel of
metal. She hoped on some level it be Bobby- since he was the
first to look at her and not cringe or comment at her. “Your a
er… woman.. man izer.. huh?” She said her elbow resting on the
cars arm rest, her metal hand under her chin a bit as she peered
       at rebel.
The confusion on Bobby's face was unmatched as Rebel proceeded
to flirt with Rachel, Bobby's best friend in the world. The
sentiment that his hot badboy savoir was a player was quite
saddening, though the idea of something giving Rachel such a
complement has a sprig of jeliously fill him.
Why did he feel like this? He was jelious on both ends, of
Rachel being hit on and Rebel being the one doing the flirting.
He had never thought of Rachel in such a way and began to wonder
why he hadn't. She was the one person who cared about himself
       outside of his grandma.
His grandma.... "we need to stop by my house, I need to check on
my Grandma, she's been alone all day...." Bobby said with sudden
       anxiety in his voice.
Rebel's eyebrows furrowed at the woman's question. "What else
would I be?" He asked a bit confused. That was when he noticed
her metal arms for the first time.
A look of realization hit him at what she must have gone
through. She'd survived some experiment or gone through
       something traumatic in her life.
"I just have little to no social skills is all," rebel sighed,
leaning against the side of the car. "I flirt instead of actual
talking," he sighed. "I'm bisexual if that's what you were
       trying to say."
He couldn't help but notice the jealous look that came into
Bobby's eyes and sighed again. Maybe he should just make a run
for it at the next red light. He'd known being around normal
       people would be too hard.
Rachel blinked a bit.”bisexual? Makes sense since you hit on
both of us.. but I was suprised Bobby managed to reel in a man
this time- too cute swear..” she mumbled before hearing Bobby
       mention his grandmother.
“Bobby…” Rachel said as daevons hands gripped the wheel.
“I…I’m sorry.. we did go to the house.. the thugs were there- we
tried to get her out of there..” Rachel said her metal hands
touching Bobby’s wishing she had normal arms to give the warm
hugs he deserved.”she was killed Bobby.. I’m sorry… “ she said
as she held what she knew was a delicate way for his hands.
“They were there to coerce you to go and experiment on you .. I
didn’t want you or her go through that… “she said softly.
The way Rachel said his name and seeing both Daevon and River
tense, Bobby already knew it wouldn't be good news, but he
hadn't been prepared for his heart to be shattered to pieces in
that moment. The last bit of family had been snatched away from
       him.
He hadn't even told her goodbye that morning. Hot tears streamed
down Bobby's cheeks as he gripped Rachel's hand when it touched
his own. "That... that can't be right, she can't be gone..." He
nearly whispered in denial, disbelief as he wasn't able to come
to terms with the concept of never seeing the woman alive again.
"Please tell me this is just a sick joke..." He begged as he
voice **** on the last words.
Rebel didn't understand why the woman was so surprised that he e
was attracted to Bobby. The guy was super cute.
The sudden shift of mood in the car was palpable and Rebel shot
a look at Bobby as...was it Rachel?...took his hands.
He closed his eyes, a wave of empathy sweeping through him for
Bobby's loss. Instinctively he reached out to put a hand on
       Bobby's shoulder, squeezing it gently.
While he was at a loss for words or something to say, he rubbed
his hand over the other's back gently.
He shot a look at Rachel, hoping she'd know what to say. They
two seemed to have a pretty close connection from what he'd
       noticed so far.

Rachel look a breath and leaned in hugging in a way trying to be
mindful.. of hugging lightly. She quietly said.”I would never
joke about this and you know I wouldn’t Bobby.. but please
know.. you were the first and last thing on her mind when she
died. No matter where she is, you know she loves you always.”
She said and let the man cry. Daevon gritted his teeth some in
the front. His eyes shifted briefly to the review mirror. Daevon
blamed himself. He wished he could have done more.. or least be
the one shot instead of the elderly woman, feeling responsible
       for Bobby being alone.
It felt like the world was crashing around him. He knew in his
heart that Rachel would never play such a cruel prank on him. He
just couldn't believe that the woman was gone now. The tears
kept flowing like a sunami as they made their way to River's
warehouse. Once there, the car was pulled inside and hidden once
       more.
"Make yourself at home..." River said once the had made it to
his loft. Finally sitting down on the cot to rest, something he
didn't usually take the time to do but he was exhausted from the
days activities. The most surprising of which being his new
boyfriend. That would take some getting used to.
Bobby was broken to say the least, barely paying attention as he
was guided out of the car and up stairs to the loft. The moment
he was seated, he curled up into himself and sobbed his heart
out. He was a broken shell of a man at this point as loss and
grief full took over his mind. His body shaking with every sob.

The outside world had been far harder to survive in than Jun had
ever considered when she had run away. Having to steal food,
clothes, everything she needed. The hardest part was finding a
dry comfortable place to sleep. It had been three months now
being out on her own. She found herself missing her created, her
heart breaking every time she thought about how she couldn't go
back. She couldn't be discarded like all his other experiments,
she would be entirely broken the day that happened.
There was also a deep fear of what James would do when he
finally caught up to her. Jun carefully picked her way through
the alleyways on the hunt for an easy target to get food from.
As degrading as it was, she had began to go to dumpsters behind
grocery stores and restaurants, the places often threw out
       perfectly good food.
The ride seemed to take far longer than it actually was due to
the somber and sad moods inside. Rebel was more than ready to
get out and followed after the others, taking in the warehouse
       loft where River lived.
Seeing the limited space, had Rebel thinking it would be smart
to find his own place. Though he couldn't just leave while Bobby
was going through so much grief. It wasn't lost on him he and
Bobby were both all alone. Lost kids who had only themselves to
depend on. Though it did seem like Rachel and the others were
       there for Bobby.
Seeing Bobby shaking and curled in a ball on the couch had Rebel
dropping his bag and moving to pull Bobby into his chest.
"Here, use me as a giant Hankey," he murmured and brushed his
       fingers gently through Bobby's hair.
Rachel helped get Bobby into the loft. She managed to get him to
the couch and rubbed the man’s back. Her heart broke for him.
Knowing what it felt like to lose people close.
Daevon sat on the cot by river as he watched the two comfort
Bobby the best way they could, and when rebel went to hold Bobby
seeing Rachel relent. She knew he needed the comfort and clearly
       rebel had the warmer hugs.
“River have any basic tools around?” He asked quietly. His eyes
went to his cousins arms. If there was going to be fights he
would need to check them over so they wouldn’t quit on her.
       ——-
Death was on the hunt for Jun. when James found out his beloved
creation had disappeared he about lost it. His eye opened a bit
when his phone went off and his touch clicked.”the target too? I
better find her quick.. least she can make him keep working.” He
said to himself. He passed by and ally to stop and notice a
female half bent in a dumpster her legs dangling. His brow
raised as he went over, once she came up and he got a good look
at her face, he grabbed the food and threw it away. Then he
grabbed her, to set her on her feet.”If you wanted to go out
that much Jun, I could have taken you somewhere nice.” Said the
humunculous. He took her hand to start walking back.”James is
all the worried about you- I had to tell him he had to stay
because of work but I’d find you- play nice I’ll get a nice fish
meal for you.. or meat..” he said as he walked with Jun.
Bobby felt Rachel artificial hand on his back as the woman tried
to comfort him before he was pulled out of his curled up
position and onto Rebel's chest. It temporarily surprised him
out of himself for a moment to look up at the man, before fresh
tears resumed in force as Bobby hid his face into Rebel's shirt.
River looked up at Daevon when the man spoke to him. "I have a
whole toolbox of **** somewhere around here." He murmmered as he
got to his feet and headed downstairs. After several minutes of
digging around, he finally found the toolbox he had been looking
for and brought it back up to his boyfriend.
"There ya go, think I'm ganna run down to the store and grab
some food, whole healing stuff makes me hungry, anyone else want
anything while I'm out?" River questioned.
       ----
Finally! A big box of sealed sandwiches! Jun felt like she had
hit the jackpot in that moment, but her excitement was quickly
dashed away when the food was ripped from her hands and she was
       pulled out of the dumpster.
The pure shock of seeing Death standing before her made the
chimera's stomach sink to the floor knowing she had been caught.
Her brow furrowed when the man took her hand and tried to lead
her down the alley with promises of good food, causing her tummy
       to rumble loudly.
She took a deep breath as he began to lead her down the alley
and yanked her hand out of Death's before sprinting in the
opposite direction of the man. "I'M NOT GOING BACK!" She yelled
as she ran with all her strength.
Even though Rebel had sort of taken over comforting Bobby, he
didn't feel right in making Rachel feel left out. It was obvious
that they two were close and had underlying feelings for one
another. Though..maybe they had yet to admit that to one
       another.
He gently stroked his fingers through the other's white soft
hair and reached out to grab Rachel's metal hand and pulled her
       in a bit closer.
"No need to be so far away. Let's make a Bobby sandwich," he
       suggested.
Though he knew her metal hand wouldn't have any sensation, he
squeezed it before placing it on his own hip. This way Bobby was
cocooned by both their bodies. Then he began humming softly to
       himself.
His humming paused at River's question about anyone needing
anything. "I could use something to eat, I'll eat whatever you
bring back. I'm not picky in the slightest," he spoke up, his
stomach rumbling a bit loudly in agreement.
Rachel had her hands folded when she heard rebel to blink. She
saw his hand in hers to feel the pull in. She saw how he
squeezed it and for a moment a tear formed. She burrowed her
head in Bobby’s shoulder as Daevon gave an appreciative smile.
He figured he’d give a bit of time before pulling her away for
much needed maintenance.”just get me something that will fill my
stomach. Rachel - mind grabbing her a salad and some soup? “ he
said as he mentally checked the diet she was on. “If there’s any
meat- chicken.” He said as he checked over the tools.
       ——
Death heard the breath and felt the yank to sigh. He never could
understand why she kept running away. “It’s such a good
relationship.” He said. He jogged lightly at first before
darting his way to snag Jun again.”you know you can’t get away..
he’s really missing you- he can’t work without you.” He said to
toss her over his shoulder and whistled for a car. He slid in
after getting her in with a man on the other side. Once he was
in he peered at her.”now tell uncle death why you keep running
away.. maybe I can help solve your problem?” He said with a tone
       that sounded kind and cheerful.
"You got it," River said once everyone had told him what they
wanted before heading out. He would return a few hours later
with the groceries and put them away in the tiny kitchen. Bobby
having cried himself to sleep at that point in the comforting
       arms of Rebel and Rachel.
"Least he is finally resting," River commented as he got the
food he had gotten ready to eat, cooking the chicken for Daevon.

Jun could hear Death's steps slowly growing quieter as she got
farther and farther away from. A false hope bloomed inside her
that she might actually get away, but that hope was quickly
dashed when the humunculus so effortlessly caught up to her and
scooped her up. She attempted to struggle against the man's
grasp on her but she was soon over his shoulder before being put
in the back of a waiting car.
Jun hissed in frustration, attempting to opened the door back up
once Death had his back turned but it seemed the man had learned
from her previous escape to put the child locks on. He
frantically kicked, hit, and threw her shoulder into the door to
no avail for a good portion of the drive before finally giving
       up and sighing heavily.
"I don't want to go back Reaper.... The Doctor is going to grow
bored of me and then I will end up discarded like Chu was!
Locked in a cage to be tortured at Famine's leisure! I wouldn't
survive the heartbreak! Please just let me go Reaper, I'm
       begging...." Jun pleaded.
Rebel gave Rachel a soft smile and rested back on the couch. It
was more than a little nice to get to have physical contact
after so long. He might have started the Bobby sandwich to help
comfort the grieving man, but it was also helping him. He
couldn't even remember the last time he'd felt this relaxed.
Rebel dozed off a little while after Bobby, his wariness finally
dropping. Of course, once River started cooking it was enough to
make him slowly stir and glance around.
With both Bobby and Rachel on top of him, he wasn't going to be
able to get up without waking them.
"Sleep helps, but it's going to take time before the pain of his
loss gets less," Reb sighed, remembering how bad it has been
for him when his mother had died. There were still times when it
hit him hard, not that he'd shared that before.
"What are you cooking? It smells Soo good,"
Death waited till she managed to calm down. He chuckled at her
nickname for him. Despite how things were he tried to be kinder
to those experimented on. Unlike the rest torture didn’t set
well with him. Which was why he dealt with cleanup and taking
care of business. “You know that won’t happen- the man barely
functions without you.” He told her gently.”chu is in that
position not because of boredom.. it’s merely tests famine is
going.” He said softly.”he’d never let you near that one.” He
said honestly.”just.. don’t run off for this project..I know
it’s hard since he has been delved into his work but he will
have a break soon.” He said honestly,
       ——
Rachel was sleeping for a little least until food came. Daevon
gently woke her up and chuckled a bit at rebel.”be one person
less for now.” The dark haired girl woke up and had a sleepy
expression before she let him take an arm off before he went and
brought the salad back for her to a table he saw, so she eat
       with the remaining other.
“It’s been too long.. just too bad we couldn’t go to Steele this
time..” said Daevon thoughtfully of the man who made those arms.
Daevon learned a lot from the man to beable to help Rachel given
       finances.
"Chicken.... I put some salt and butter on it... going to admit,
I'm hot good at cooking.... only ever eat when I get hurt....
grabbed a bit of variety as far as snacks," River said. If he
were entirely honest, had the others not been there be probably
wouldn't have bothered cooking the chicken but they didn't need
       to know that.
Bobby started to stir when Rachel eventually pulled away, and
when the food was nearly done he finally woke up. It took a bit
to remember where he was and his cheeks turned a dark red when
he remembered who was holding him. He slowly pulled away before
heading into the bathroom once he had River point it out for him
and locked himself inside before turning on the sink, splashing
his face with water to try and wash away the tear stains on his
       face.
       ---
"He could easily create someone he likes more than me and just
replace me without warning...." Jun lamated knowing she would
get nowhere with Death. The man treated her like she was just
       throwing a tantrum.
Accepting there was no escaping in that moment, Jun pulled her
knees up to her chest, letting her tail wrap around her legs.
When the other man in the car looked at her she gave him a
threatening hiss, though most know the chimera to be all bark
and no bite. She was created to be a pet, not a fighter.
"I'm sure it'll taste better than anything I've had in the last
24 hrs," Rebel replied, his mouth already salivating at the
thought of eating freshly cooked meat.
He waited as patiently as he could for Rachel and Bobby to move
and then got up to stretch out a bit. It didn't escape him that
       Bobby had flushed a bit.
He wandered over to watch Daevon work on the metal arm. He'd
always been fascinated with how things worked and would often
tinker on electronics when he had spare time.
"If you need any replacement parts, I could go scrounging
       later," he offered.
When his stomach started growling louder, he pulled himself away
to grab some food. He sat back down on the couch making pleased
sounds as he ate, unable to be completely quiet.
Daevon chuckled.”believe me bet your better than Rachel. Can’t
cook worth a damn- but she bakes well.” He said. Course he
noticed she did not quip back like normal and got a soft look.
He flipped the arm before hearing rebel,”so far we don’t. It’s
mostly just making sure nothing slips out. Eventually I’ll need
to find some bolts.” He said with a sigh.
He got himself some food when it was ready and flipped arms with
Rachel to start working on the other one, he noticed she visibly
flinched and took notice of a rash on her other arm as the
result of the leather strapping that held it in place.”guess the
leather on this one is about to give out..” he said to gently
touch it.”let it breathe and I’ll see if the kit has a cream.”
He said as he went to work on the other arm and ate.
       ——-
“You are irreplaceable Jun. I doubt he could ever replace you.”
Said death knowing full well of what she was before. “You do
realize you’re the only one he hasn’t replaced? Tina, Zach, and
mark all got passed on but you’re still here.. doesn’t that
convince you of anything?” He asked.
Death knew full well if things were not so complicated-he’d let
her go- but given how James acted- could not afford to. “Please
just stay long enough for this project, and then I’ll let you do
what you want. I’ll even get you those candies you like so much
if you get James to work faster.” He said to smile a bit at her.
It wasn't much longer before the chicken was ready to come out
of the oven and cut the meat up for easy serving. River then
made himself a plate of food that most would consider an obserd
amount of food, heading down stairs to eat and give everyone in
the loft a little more space. River didn't really like to be
       watched while he ate.
Bobby stay in the bathroom for a long while, trying to steady
himself. When he was finally somewhat collected he left the
bathroom finding the food ready to eat, Daevon working on
Rachel's arms while Rebel ate on the couch. The greiveing man
slowly made himself a plate of food before silently sitting
       himself on the couch.
       ---
"He hasn't replaced me *yet*.... what is so important about this
project?" The feline woman questioned as her tail swished at the
end in irritation. "How... long til we get back?" She
reluctantly question, scared that James would be angry with her
for running away again. She had seen the man's rage let out on
others and was terrified of the day he would take it out on her.
Reb shook his head at Daevon's joke, looking a bit doubtful.
"I've never really cooked anything, so I doubt that."
He didn't mention that most of the food he did get was from
dumpsters behind restaurants or grocery stores.
Rebel's sharp ears picked up on Daevon's comments about the
leather and Rachel's arm and finished his bite of food.
"If you don't I should have some in my bag," he offered, wanting
       to be helpful.
Reb was quick to get up and snag a serving of chicken and nearly
inhaled it. It was the best thing he'd had in a long time. When
his food was completely gone, he relaxed on the couch letting
       out a happy sigh.
"Thanks for the food, I think I'll go out for a bit. I need a
walk after eating so much," He said popping to his feet.
He went to grab his bag, and rummaged through it. Reb finally
found some lotion cream and set it in the table next to Rachel.
"Maybe this will help some?" He leaned in and brushed a kiss to
Rachel's forehead. "Be back soon," he chirped and then turned
       to kiss Bobby's cheek.
"Promise I won't go too far," he added before hurrying down the
stairs and out of the warehouse.
Rachel heard rebel mention about walking to be pulled from her
head by a form of a kiss on her forehead. Her face drastically
changed to a cherry tomato.”thanks.” She squeeked out. While
embarrassed- she did feel like she needed to keep up her guard.
She was wary of kindness of a stranger from a start in this
form.. that was due to her experience from her childhood when
she use to trust James. He acted like the fun loving uncle, and
acted as if he had her health in the best interest.. which
       wasn’t the case.
She got the bottle to look at it, before noticing Bobby.”does it
taste okay?” She asked gently. She felt for the man. She
wondered what she could do to help his grief. “Maybe I should
have asked for brownies.. sweets may not cure anything, but
they’re damn good.” She said before lightly biting on the lid to
turn it. She put a little on the spot to try and smooth it out
at least, feeling the cool metal and cream on the skin.
       ——
“He won’t replace you at all Jun.. I don’t think you realize
just how priceless you are.” Said death.”simply the boss wanting
to be something like me..a humunculous while retaining his sense
of self.. pestilence.. war.. famine and I.. we have no real
collection- no memories of childhood- just of when we came to
be.” He told the chimera.”I’m quite old.. for a long time I
tried to figure out who I was.. but.. I am death and that is who
I am.“ he said.” The boss is hoping to have the benefits of
being a humunculous while being able to be himself in his own
body. To do that he has to see if it’s even viable.” He said
       with a sigh.
“The boy was suppose to be the other half of the project.. an
attempt to see if a pair could be made to even procreate. Course
I have to figure out how to get the target since the means of
coercion was murdered…” he said in a voice that sounded
       irritated.
“Not terribly far off but I won’t leave your side so he won’t
turn his rage on you. I won’t allow it.” Said death.
Bobby was pulled from his thoughts when Rebel kissed his cheek
after kissing Rachel on the forhead. He couldn't help but stare
after the raven haired man as he walked away promising not to go
far. Bobby's cheeks matched Rachel's in intensity, not knowing
how to deal with someone flirting with *both* of them.
It was too much to worry about at the moment as he slowly ebbed
back into his own quite dispare.
River returned not long after Rebel had wandered off, dumping
the empty plates in the sink. The plates were spotless, not even
bones from the chicken left behind, and given there was no
trashcan in sight, in was pretty obvious to the observant that
       he had likely eaten them.
River laid down on his cot, groaning slightly ad he was reminded
of his back wound but didn't move to get up.
       ----
"You promise?" Jun asked meekly, all the fight that was in her
now fully dissipated. "How will you do your job *and* keep me
safe?" She asked, still not trusting the man. At this point she
didn't trust anyone. How could she given the nature of the
       organization?
After that, Jun entirely shut down until they reached wherever
Death was taking her, only seemingly coming back to life when
she attempted to dart out of the car to try and get away once
more, much like a trapped animal. The man in the car with her
was quick in grabbing hold of her. Unfortunately for him, Jun
turned sharply and bit the arm of the hand bitting her, causing
the guy to cry out and let go. It took a little effort to pill
her fangs out, stuck in the human's flesh.
This would give Death more than enough time to get hands on her
to get her back under control.
Rebel hit the street, wariness hitting him almost immediately.
It was a different area and it was certain other gangs and
street urchins to deal with. Sure he got around, but he usually
would scout out a new area for weeks before moving in.
After a bit of exploration, he found an workshop a few blocks
away. After quickly picking the lock, he let himself in and
stole a few items he could sell. He felt quite lucky to find the
right size of bolts and leather pieces that could be used for
       Rachel's arms.
He snuck back out and relocked the door behind him.
Rebel wasn't about to let someone use his skills for free after
       all.
He was halfway back to River's warehouse when he felt the hairs
on the back of his neck raise. Then a crawling sensation that
moved over his skin and dread filled him. This had only happened
once before, the day his mother had died.
Rebel ducked behind a dumpster when he heard voices and many
feet approaching him. While the voices were low, he could make
out what they were saying. Years of living on the streets had
heightened his hearing. The more he heard, his heart got heavier
       in his chest.
------After centuries of living around humans, War could blend
in easily when the need arose. His quiet presence among the
street gang hadn't been questioned, mostly due to his ease of
doling out death and punishment whenever it was needed.
They didn't seem to notice or care when their turf wars became
more violent. Or even suspect that he was the cause of it. War
thrived off of their hatred and need to destroy each other.
Humans were easy to manipulate in that way.
War's gaze slowly looked around while the humans plotted their
attack on their rival gangs hideout. He had thought he'd seen
some movement before the men had filled the alleyway. Perhaps it
had been a stray animal. It didn't really matter all that much
to him. Everyone in or around the place would soon be dead.
"Everyone got that? This isnt just a hit job, anything that
moves dies." The gang leader hissed, readying his two guns.
War shot a look over at Alice, a grin filling his face. "you
heard him. Unleash that inner fury of yours. Destroy anyone that
       gets in your way,"
Even though he knew how volatile the red haired woman was, War
knew there would still be plenty for him to kill as well. The
group split and descended on the other gang, unleashing a
torrent of destruction and death on their enemies.
War's grin grew with every death and blood drop that spilled. It
took him back to the massacres and the glorious battles of the
past: the smell of blood and gun powder invigorating him even
       more.

Rachel finished with the lotion as she saw her arm sat down
before the man walked over to where River was.” Your back
hurting” Daevon asked. He noticed the bones were gone and
wondered if the man ate bones that often. “Maybe we can change
the bandages..” he said to sit on the side of the cot.
Alice smiled wide, her hand giving a salute to war before she
ran off, her bare feet hitting the sidewalk. The girl proved to
be good, as she disarmed some to use their own knives and
weapons against them, to throwing off challengers with ease with
her telekinesis till it hit its limit. The girl was splattered
in the enemies blood when she heard a noise around the quiet
       where she had ended up.
Her duo toned eyes flickered a direction, sneaking a bit to poke
her head over rebel’s hiding spot.”oh? Got a hider! I know..
wanna play a game?” She asked as she could hear a few more shots
down the alley with the group that will still mod fight with the
       rebel gang.

Meanwhile Rachel realizing that Bobby wasn’t responding to her
questions. She went over to settle by him as she got her other
arm on.”Bobby.” She said and put her hand on his. She noticed he
seemed to react when rebel kissed him. She wondered if doing the
same might bring Bobby out even if he rejected her. Rachel let
off a breath to slide her metal hand under Bobby’s chin and gave
a soft kiss on his lips light and soft before pulling away.
Clearly flushed at the fact she finally did what she wanted to
and for the first kiss she had given away.

Death gave a smile.” I’ll try my best, but as for how, I’ll
simply have you do runs with me for errands.” He said with a
thought. “It’ll give time for you to have a breather from the
man and you’ll be helping out all at the same time!” He
       commented.
Of course when they reached the destination she tried to get
away again. Thankfully her biting the man gave enough time to
grab Jun. “excuse me young lady. If you continue to try to
escape my deal goes out the window.” He said with a drop in his
voice as part of his face went translucent - a sign of someone
that was getting a bit angry. Inside would be the skeleton head
       showing partially in response.
