Valiant blinked, his eyebrows furrowing not quite sure he'd
heard Alice right. "You..you're Dakota? How..is that..possible?"
His question was answered a moment later, which brought another
look to his face. One of awe. Val's mouth dropped open as
she..he..they..explained more.
Val was silent for a moment, taking in the new information. "I'm
actually happy to hear this. I was feeling bad for being
attracted to this form. I was actually questioning myself for
how I could feel the same for two different people."
"I don't see it ruining anything..just..making it better. I
would happily date you in either form. You can be a guy or a
girl whenever you want. I kind of like the idea of being
surprised every day about who I will be with. Yes..we should
have that after-party. But you do still want dinner first
right?" Val asked.
After a moment of thought, Val knew it would be better to come
out now than later. "I have a confession to make myself, I'm not
human either. I"m of mixed blood, I just look human. I'm a magic
user..of sorts. I hope that doesn't change the way you think of
me,"

Dakota blushed a little.”I am glad to hear that! I was a little
scared about you being mad at me doing this- it just kinda felt
necessary to make sure this was a solid deal.. and dinner would
be lovely.” She said with a chuckle.
When Valiant had his own confession she smiled softly.”that
isn’t a problem for me- see I specialize with mixed bloods of
many kinds.. I wanted to do it as my half sibling is half elf.”
Said Dakota. “I’d love to have dinner first! Any
recommendations?” She asked feeling more than happy at being
accepted.
Her head floated some as if in a dream, and took Val’s arm.”we
can use my car if you want. You’re welcome to drive too.” Said
Dakota as she walked a bit closer to Val.

Val blinked, feeling a bit sad that Dakota had been rejected and
felt it was necessary to have to pull this with him. Then again,
he could understand it. "Well..I don't blame you for being
careful, I imagine there have been those that wouldn't accept
you for the amazing person you are."
"You might be surprised if you were to test my blood," Val
couldn't help but say, thinking of just how mixed his own blood
was. It was easier to just say he was mixed than to list every
race that he had in his ancestry.
"Well, I did make a reservation for us, before I knew it was
this side of you coming. I think you'll like the place,"
Val tucked her hand in his arm, quite happy that things were
going so well.
"Hey man, I thought you and that Dakota dude was going out,
change of plans?" Archer asked coming up to them.
"You could say that," Val hedged, glancing at Dakota, holding
back a laugh. He wasn't quite sure if she was ready for his
friends to know the truth. "See you guys later this week." He
said before ushering Dakota into one of the back rooms. "Just
need to grab my wallet and my jacket," He told her going to grab
them.
Then he was escorting her out the back exit and to her car.
After opening her door, he headed around to get in the driver's
seat. "Do you want to be surprised or would you rather know
where we're going?" He asked smiling at her.

“Oh? I can do the whole ancestors thing- you got me curious.”
Said the woman with light chuckle.
Dakota blushed a bit, “I’d think I’d love it either way.” She
said with a gentle chuckle to walk. As they walked she noticed
archer.”ah well, afraid I wasn’t sure how’s y’all react had in
the same person.” Said Dakota with archer.”some beings trip out
with shapeshifters.” She said honestly to follow Valiant to the
back room.
Once settled in the car, Dakota handed her keys over.”mm I’m all
about suprises.” She said with a smile.”do I need to close my
eyes?” She said with a smirk. Her eyes traveled to his mouth
thinking of their shared kiss. She couldn’t wait to feel that on
her mouth again.
She looked out at the passing cars, taking in the people that
were starting to crowd some. She looked back at valiant.”what
got you into music? If it’s ok to ask.” She said blinking rather
softly.

Val couldn't help but shift slightly at Dakota's comment about
his ancestors. There were things in his blood that might even
shock Dakota. "I might let you do that one day," He said
thoughtfully. While he'd kept his background secret from past
dates..for some reason he felt that he could trust Dakota. There
was just something different about her.
"I just didn't want to tell them without you wanting them to
know. Archer's not human, but the other two are. they know about
the supernatural world..but not every race that exists." He
explained.
He accepted the keys, smiling at her question. "you can close
your eyes if you want, but it's not necessary."
He started up the car and pulled out onto the road. He took a
little extra care driving, wanting to keep Dakota safe. They'd
gone a few blocks when he heard her next question.
"My aunt got me into music after I went to live with her. It got
me through a lot of tough things in my life. And then it turned
out I was really good at it. A few years back Archer approached
me and asked if I wanted to start a band with him and a friend.
We're slowly gaining a good fan base..and doing pretty well."
A few more blocks went by and Val turned into the parking lot of
a small Indian restaurant. "I hope you like Indian food; these
people make the best authentic Indian food I've found. If you're
not into Indian food..there's another place I had in mind,"

“It’s well and fine.. I figured that it wouldn’t hurt to say
anything given the circumstances.” Said Dakota.”I just didn’t
want people to think you’re dating two different people. Or “
she chuckled.”a pair of siblings.. that would be awkward.”
She listened as she had her eyes closed a soft smile playing on
her lips. “That’s sweet.. your music certainly will be popular
before long..” said Dakota.
Once the car had stopped she slowly opened her eyes.”oh Indian
food sounds good! “ she said with a smile. Once they had gotten
out of her car, she tucked her hand in the man’s arm and made
their way inside. The smell of food lingering in the restaurant,
making her mouth water. They were ushered to a seat after
waiting where a sign clearly had said that they’d be seated by
someone.
Dakota sat in her seat to scoot up some and looked at the menu.
Her eyes landed on a dish.”I’ll have the Chicken Makhani, and a
Lassi, mango one please.” She said before folding it up. “It’s
amazing in here..” she said with a smile to look at Valiant.

Val shrugged, not really caring much about what people thought.
Just as long as Dakota and he was on the same page, that was all
that really mattered.
"We can explain it later, it's not really a big thing to me.
Honestly..I did wonder if your other side was related to you,"
Val said with a chuckle. "I'm usually not the type to date two
people at once..though I did get close once. I'm not perfect by
any means, mind you."
Val was pleased by Dakota's praise. It was actually nice to have
a date say that his music would do well. Some even suggested he
try getting a "regular" job. That was definitely a red flag to
him. So far, it seemed Dakota was giving him all green flags.
Smiling, Val took Dakota's hand and led her inside. They were
soon led to a private area and left to look over the menu. He
gave his own order, a vegetarian curry with rice and a few
appetizers to start them off with.
"It's my favorite place actually," Val replied and reached to
take her hand in his, stroking it gently. "Anything you want to
talk about while we wait? Tell me more about yourself." He
prompted, very much interested in finding out more.

“Really? I tend to go for sushi a lot at a place that’s not far
from my home.. blame my parent for that one.” Said Dakota as she
felt her hand grabbed to blush a bit.
“Well, I was born here, went to school got sucked into art
first, but as things went I ended up wanting to be a doctor.”
Said the woman.”my poor brother being half shapeshifter and half
elf ended up getting sick from something no one could
understand. It wasn’t till I met my inspiration- there was this
man- Doctor Stine? He managed to figure it out, after he
suffered for almost a year. Come to find out he was one of the
few rare doctors for mixed bloods. So I went to school, and
learned everything I could to be qualified.. of course it’s
still a learning process, given some mixed bloods don’t pop up
till way later.” She said and blinked.”you know I love to
travel, besides Cancun, I did travel to wiltshire, in
England-beautiful place as well.. got to see Stonehenge- old
magic I felt.. made me wish I could see more.” She said with a
smile.
“What about you?” She said as she loved how he held her hand,
letting her thumb do the same to his. Feeling bold she let her
foot rub against his leg some. She listened intently before the
food had arrived to be set in front of them, drinks had been
served and she spooned some up to blow at the steamy food enough
before taking a taste.”mmmm spicy.. and good!” She said before
drinking. The mango in it hit her tongue soothing the spicy
feel. “This is good.” She said before repeating her action to
chew and swallow.”how is yours?” She asked with a sweet smile.

"Sushi's good. Fish is one of the few types of meat I can
stomach," Val said, thinking of his allergies to red meats. He
was that Dakota would understand his medical problem better than
his past dates ever had.
After he'd undergone his surgeries and received blood
transfusions..his body had changed a great deal. One of the side
effects was not being able to digest red meats or even some
legumes. Wheat..could be a problem at times too.
Hearing about her brother's difficulties from being a halfling
was easy for him to emphasize with. "That had to be difficult to
watch," He said gently squeezing her hand.
He nodded, knowing quite well about problems creeping up later
in life. Val was sure he'd have more things popping up and
troubling him. Such was the life a halfing or mixed blood
experienced. Maybe one day that would change when magic and
science could work together to find ways to help them.
"Stonehengs is definitely a life-changing experience," He
agreed, remembering when he'd gone so many years ago. "I went
when I was 17. It was amazing."
Valiant shivered from her thumb and the feet he rubbed up his
leg. He was already thinking of what sort of fun they might do
later..if Dakota was feeling going that direction. "Uh..what
else is there to tell you?"
He thought over what he'd already told her, then went on.
"I went to a magic academy and had a few close friends. One that
I still see every couple of months. Orion's a halfling too. Half
Shadow Elf, half-Fae," He brought up. "He's had some problems
like your brother. I help him when I can. I uh...I do have some
healing magic that comes in handy. It just..takes a lot out of
me. I have to be careful how much I use," He explained a bit
vaguely. He wanted to tell her more, he just wasn't sure how
safe it would be to do that in public though.
He was a bit sad to see the food arrive, he had been enjoying
talking, but figured they could pick that up again after they
finished. He took a bit of his food and watched as Dakota dug
into her own food. "Hope it's not too spicy," He said and took a
drink. "It's great. Want to try some?" He asked and grabbed a
new clean spoon to get a bite for her.
It was a habit of his, mostly because he couldn't chance getting
cross-contamination from red meat, even though chicken was
something he could eat.

Dakota was enjoying hearing the man talk and getting to know him
more- it made her over the moon to learn about him being in the
academy and got interested in hearing about his life some.
Dakota seemed to understand what he was saying to speak
up.”healing capacity varies for those who have the ability- best
to know what your limits are as to not overdo it.” She said with
a nod.
She ate a bit more to chuckle.”oh I love spicy.. long as it’s
tasty too.” She said to see him ask if she wanted a bite.”sure!”
Dakota said, watching him get a clean spoon to get why and took
a bite.”mmm refreshing!” She said with a bright look.
The meal now finished in time as she sat back a bit and then
asked.”so… what’s next?… unless you want to go to my place?” She
said in a tone with a bit of a smirk. The evening felt perfect
to her.. and she didn’t mind the idea of bringing him back to
her house. Her mind flitted to ideas of what she wanted to do as
her eyes ran over him.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to both.. a pair of eyes looked at Val,
the male who was sticky in build couldn’t believe that the man
was with a woman. The eyes shifted a bit at her to grow a bit
dark with jealousy. The pair of eyes traveled as the two walked
out the door, hand in hand.
