Eden’s head had tilted at the thought of snow being interested
when Adam mentioned it. If he didn’t come closer next time on
one of his visits- she was gonna have to catch him. The words
made her curious a little- about the idea the man actually being
interested.
She felt him cuddle her, her opting to stay naked her things
neatly folded on a small wooden box and her leg belted sheath on
with a knife to be safe. Her body snuggled perfectly in his.
Eden was afraid to really doze off. She hoped when she wakes up
by the morning, that this was never a dream.
As the sun started to rise, Eden slowly woke up. She blinked a
little to see the man still laying with her, a gentle smile
playing on her lips. She felt relief that she wasn’t alone
anymore. Her chest swayed a bit as she kissed the sleeping man’s
forehead before moving to get her things on. She also untied her
mask to throw it on her eyes.
She walked out to get some water to throw in the pot to boil
after she cleaned it out from dinner before. The barrier had
done its work as she could see a few interlopers knocked out on
the other side. But one standing there as if waiting. She let a
breath out.”what the hell do you want?” She called out to walk
over and noticed. He wasn’t desert folk. Her mouth twisted some
as the man shouted out.”where’s the man you stolen?”
Eden’s head tilted as it hit her.”ohhhhhh your one them
authority people.”she said.”I didn’t steal him, I saved his ass
unlike the bodyguard that’s with him.. you should tell whoever
sent you that.” She said as her head tilted the other way.
“also not my fault your guy was too much of a pussy to step in
the desert and not taking him back.. Adan made the smart choice
to stay with me.” She said smirking. She could hear the deep
sigh and him mumbling her name - that’s when she recognized the
guy.
“ohhhh it’s you!” Eden said a bit more happily. She loved
teasing this one given he’d had to visit her place before to
retrieve books or try to at least that she had stolen when they
had their own exploration.”yes, yes, just let me take him back,
I’ll even throw in the books I took back last time.” Said the
warrior as he held his spear.
Eden decided to amuse the guy and pretended to think about
it.”mmmmm no” she said shortly as the guy seemed to be taking
the few out to pause.”what?” Eden smiled wider.”No. I’ve
decided- he’s mine. I’m not gonna let you take him back.” She
said in a sing song voice.”
The man started stammering about the man’s family name and how
important they are. How Eden’s making a mistake as she clearly
tuned him out to continue her morning work. The barrier would
last a good while, so it gave her time to make sure her swords
were in place, and her small bag of tuning stones was in her
pack.
“Oh shut up. He doesn’t even want to go back ya know.. but I
wanna know- is it because they love and care for him- or is it
because of the fact they can’t do anything without their golden
goose.” She said Remembering what he said about his marriage
being arranged.
The man went silent as he was clearly sweating not from the sun,
but from the look on his face that told her enough.”get going..
“ she said as she seemed ready to fight, the barrier seemingly
losing its momentum of the wind.”I really don’t wanna kill
you,“she said simply.”I will if I have to.” She said as she went
in her stance of trying to look bigger.

Adan ended up falling asleep before they could actually do any
talking, he didn't realize this before he woke the next morning.
When he came to, he was alone, Eden having woken before him. He
went to look for her, hoping she didn't think he was lazy for
not getting up sooner.
He was startled and quite shocked to hear her speaking to
someone else and tried to see who it was without showing
himself. Seeing the familiar armor of a jungle guard, had a wave
of fear go through him. They'd already sent one of these people
after him? He was more than a little pissed that the guy thought
that Eden had stolen him.
He was glad to hear Eden correct the jungle authority, not in
the least bit afraid of him. Still, he knew he'd have to
confront the man himself. He slipped back into the tent to write
out a short letter to his family, hoping that it might work to
get them to back off. If not..well..maybe it would buy them a
little time to figure out what to do next.
He couldn't help hearing Eden's taunts to the authority,
grinning when she claimed him as her own. At least he could
count on her promise to not let someone else claim him.
"She's right," He said coming out of the tent, to stand next to
her, and shooting the authority a harsh look. "I don't want to
go back. If you want to help, you can take this to my parents,"
He tossed the missive he'd written on the ground in front of the
guard.
He was smart enough to know that if he tried to hand it over,
the guy would try to grab him. He'd seen the maneuver more than
once. "Or if you'd rather just die, that's okay too." He added
softly, as he eyed the man's armor. "Eden, if you want to hit a
fatal blow, there's a chink loose under his left arm."
The guard regarded them for a moment before stooping to grab the
letter. "Fine...I'm going. For now. If you don't want to go
back, then I won't bother unless they pay me more."
Adan was relieved the guy was smart enough to not engage Eden in
a fight. Plus this way his wishes would be passed on to his
parents. Not that it would do much good. If they'd sent an
authority person out this far, it was likely they'd send an
army.
"Maybe I should have told you, my family is pretty high nobility
in the city. I was supposed to marry someone related to the
empress," He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "If I could
change what family I was born into, I would do it in a
heartbeat,"

Eden heard Adan as he came up and asserted himself. She chuckled
a bit as her head moved approving his resolve.
The barrier let down as the guard took a few steps forward, as
Eden drew her blades out.
She listened to the men talk, and nodded to
Adan when she heard his weak point. She gave a rather toothy
grin as the man decided to do that.”yeah then you’d regret it
cause you won’t live long enough to use it!” She shouted back
before giving the middle finger.”gonna hate killing him when he
comes back- he was amusing when he was trying to get back when I
stole stuff.” She said with a small tone.
“Mm it’s okay, everyone has a past they rather not associate
with. But we will be ready if your family tries.. and if you
really don’t want to go back and worst case scenario if there is
no other option..” Eden paused and took a breath.”I’ll take you
with me in that situation. Promise I’ll make it painless.”She
said in a tone that made one aware that meant they’d no longer
be apart of that world. Eden knew she didn’t want to be alone
again, if that were to happen she’d finish what she was already
thinking of almost a week ago. Of course it depended on Adan as
well if she’d go alone or with her. She felt that much.
Eden gave a small breath out.”but I get it.. honestly seeing me
you’d not think me a product of a desert and forest dweller.”
She said shortly. “I have a twin.. he’s probably in politics
himself by now.” She said as she strode toward a woman.
She walked over to one of the interlopers that was starting to
wake up and dragged her to a tree by her hair. She pulled a rope
that looked like it been tied for some time. She looped it
around the woman’s neck and yanked another rope that was weighed
by a rock,watching her go up to hang. “One.” She mumbled as she
walked away listening to the choking noises.
“I was.. abandoned by my twin here in the desert.” She
explained. “ my father was a sage at the time.. my mom was
brought from the desert as a gift but.. they fell in love
nonetheless..” She felt bad having to do this in front of Adan
but she didn’t need anyone to go back. She knew what they were
here for. And it would cut their prepping time short if they did
go back.
The next one she pulled her mask off and gutted on the spot,
listening to the gurgling before he died.”two.”
Then she saw three already trying to get up. The air would
crackle and more as the man stupidly went for the water. A big
crack would be heard as the man’s body seemed to vanish without
a trace in the sheer white lightning produced.
“ I don’t know why I was abandoned.. I was on this big trip with
dad and my brother to some pyramid.. middle of the trip my twin
mentioned about a creature that looked cool.. I was only 10..”
she said painfully. “After I gotten hit.. pretty sure by my
twin.. I didn’t wake up till I realized I was alone..” she said
and rubbed her eye.”I starved for days until an old man took me
in.. he trained me in tuning stones and everything.. he ended up
dying because one tribe couldn’t take no for an answer. They
wanted me for some reason.He made me run off when I managed to
be 15-16.. I didn’t find the oasis till a year ago.” She said
and rubbed her head. “I may of not been in the jungle world very
much.. but I know my family never cared enough to come for me.
So I just stayed out here.. “ she said. Her shoulders slumped a
little.”I’m sorry.. I know if I let them live.. our prepping
time would be cut short..” she said quietly. Her eyes seemed to
dull back to looking dead as she went to put her mask back on as
to not wish to scare him of a look of a person who felt like
they lost everything.

Adan was starting to like Eden's feisty side, chuckling at her
shouted words and the gesture she offered the guard. "Maybe
he'll be smart and realize there's not enough money in the world
to tangle with you," He commented with a grin.
Adan was relieved that Eden wasn't bothered by his family. He
was more shocked when she went on to say she'd take him with
her. He hoped it didn't come to that. Especially after
experiencing some of the best sex of his life with the woman.
"Let's just hope it doesn't go there," Adan said, wanting to try
and be optimistic. "We could..find another oasis and move on.
This one seems pretty well known," He suggested, unsure of how
she might take that.
Adan couldn't help but be surprised to hear about her parentage
or that Eden had a twin. He wondered idly if her twin looked
much like her. "Politics are evil," He said with a shake of his
head, not wanting to really get into why he hated the whole
subject.
While he'd spied the bodies of the other interlopers, he hadn't
really thought of what might be done to them until Eden started
executing them in front of him. He tried to not let it bother
him, knowing that in their case it was a necessity. They didn't
need the strangers to take news or spread the word that Adan was
wanted by the Jungle authorities.
Adan decided to focus more on her story than what she was doing,
fighting off nausea from the deaths. He didn't want her to think
he was too soft. Her story was sad, and not too unfamiliar. He'd
heard of worse things noble families had done to unwanted
children..or rivals in their family.
It was then that his mind did the math of what she'd last said,
and he frowned. "So..you're only 18? I imagine that I was your
first then," He mentioned, wishing he could have shown her more
gentleness and pleasure for her first time together. "There's
nothing to be ashamed of being a virgin, though if you had told
me, I could have made it better for you,"
"You really don't need to apologize. I know it's not something
you want to do, but have to. We don't need them causing us more
trouble," Adan reassured her, moving to touch her arm, not in
the least bit scared of her.

Eden blushed a bit hard at his words.”uhm.. I couldn’t say that
openly. Here women are not regarded very highly unless you’re in
the hawks- even then you simply lose yourself to a dick Shaped
object.” She said quietly.”and it’s not gentle or enjoyable..
that’s why I kept quiet.” She said gently.”you made it
enjoyable.. you didn’t rush me and you let me feel good first
before releasing yourself..” she said in a tone that felt
loving.
Eden felt the touch on her arm and saw no fear as her mask was
still in her hands. He’d see tears forming,”we should.. look for
a new oasis.. honestly… I thought I was gonna..” tears slid down
her face. When did she cry last?… being abandoned the first
time.. she cried.. and feeling alone after the one who cared for
her like a daughter.. she cried till she couldn’t speak for
days. Her body trembled just a little as she went into Adam’s
arms her head resting on his chest. Her eyes going to the
swinging form in the tree that had no life left.
That would have been her.. if adan hadn’t decided to come. She
buried her face in his chest to give time to compose and swallow
the cries that wanted to echo into the desert.
She knew crying would just bring in more interlopers thinking
she was weak. She calmed down and said.”we should get ready..
I’m gonna have to use the other man for a warning.. her body as
to stay up there for now.. it’ll keep them away for a while.”
She said as she finally masked up her eyes. She kissed Adan
deeply.”there’s a pack in the tent.. we can carry some of those
furs and the tools I left on the other box.. I make weapons so..
it’s necessary.” She said. She quietly went back to the body in
the ground and cut his head off. She then found a thick stick
she had made days before and stuck it in the ground with his
head facing a certain direction. After she buried the rest of
his body and then went to help pack.

It was quite easy to see the blush on Eden's pale skin, and Adan
nodded at her explanation, It made a lot of sense now that he
knew why she'd kept that information to herself. It kind of
annoyed him a bit to know that she'd had someone watching it
happen.
"Well..sex is supposed to be enjoyable for both partners," Adan
told her. "At least that's what I've learned. It shouldn't just
be one-sided."
He could understand her a bit better now, how she'd held so many
people off and kept her distance. Such a secret would have been
hard to keep if someone tried to get close. It made him feel a
bit special that she trusted him enough to tell him the truth.
The tears forming in her eyes made Adan feel for the young
woman. Even though she didn't say it, he had the horrible
feeling before she'd met him, Eden had planned on killing
herself. That was a terrible thought, but he knew that
loneliness and depression would make people consider doing such
things.
Adan closed his arms around her, holding her close and letting
her cry for as long as she needed. He'd never thought that he'd
ever save another life..but apparently, he had.
"I'm so glad you didn't do that," He said softly against her
head and then kissed it gently.
Adan patted her back gently, waiting for her to calm down a bit.
"Yeah, we should. That's probably the best thing to do," He
agreed.
He ran his hand down her back, leaning into the kiss before he
slowly let her go. "I'll get packing stuff up then," He told
her, letting her go to deal with the body.
Adan managed to get most of Eden's belongings packed up. He
glanced up when she rejoined him. "Does the tent roll up? I
could probably carry it along with my own pack and yours. It
would leave you free to fight if you need to, I'm not a pack
mule, but I'm pretty strong,"

“It does, but you sure you can handle it?” She asked softly.
Eden was planning on ditching the tent but.. given circumstances
felt wiser to bring it.”I’ll help. She helped get it broken down
and began to roll it up. She looked at what her home been for so
long. Honestly when she arrived here she enjoyed it. She even
considered it to be a possible resting place. Or least a place
to die comfortably. She was gonna miss this oasis.
She finished getting odds and ends, thankfully the tent wasn’t
too hard to put up. “Okay.. we got the stuff, and I got some
tuning stones left.. and dried meat for the travel.. it won’t
taste too great but it’ll help.” Eden said softly. She pulled
out a small book to thumb through it. How often had she read
this thing to curb how alone she felt? It was nothing much than
a simple book on botany. It helped her with several things that
kept her alive. She shut the book and turned to Adan.”guess we
better go.. and find an oasis that isn’t bordered here.” Eden
said as she thought of a direction to go. She slid her book in
her bag thoughtfully.

"I think so," Adan replied. "I might need a rest here and there,
but I should be able to carry everything." He added.
He really had no idea just where they might go, just that it
would probably be further into the desert. He was pretty sure
that his family wouldn't send people too far into the desert. Or
that anyone would willingly go that far into the barren lands.
The tent took a bit of work, but together they got everything
down and rolled up inside the tough material. He was able to tie
it up and get it onto his back without too much trouble. It was
a bit on the heavy side, but not terrible. "Sounds good to me,"
He said giving her a thankful smile. "Thanks again..for taking
me on. I know this isn't what either of us planned on
originally."
He pulled out some nuts and some dried fruit from his pack,
offering a few to her, and then ate his own share. Hopefully, it
would be enough until they found a place to stop to refuel.
He caught sight of her book, wishing he'd thought to bring one
of his books from the jungle group's camp. "Which direction
should we go?" Adan asked, turning to look into what looked like
a barren wasteland. It all looked the same to him.

Eden’s face seemed to contemplate a little.”I know of one.. it’s
kinda enclosed.. and tuning stones would work beautifully there.
We can essentially use it like a hideout. I remember passing it
and no signs of life aside from a plants and animals.” She said
gently. “We better get started before I’m discovered gone..
that’s what that woman’s body is for. They’ll have to take it
down to be sure.” She said. The tree was high enough that it
would be hard to tell. Other than that it was a woman.
They began trekking, the walk feeling like a while. Eden managed
to find spots to rest, and taught Adan about the cactus of the
desert and how they were water sources. She didn’t show it to
the man, but she made sure he drank plenty of water while not
taking much. Usually just enough to wet her mouth.
She finally stopped at a point to make Adan take a nap till
night fell. She kept watch to keep them both safe as they
started to travel at night. She felt they’d make more progress
this way since the nights were not as searing as days, she had a
cloak on to keep warm given nights tend to be cold in open
desert. Her hair tussled a bit as she turned to Adan.”you
holding up okay? I’m sorry for doing it this way. But I feel we
can cover more ground this way.” Eden said with a worried tone.

Adan was a bit curious about the animals that lived in the
desert. So far he hadn't really seen many. "Sounds like it would
work well enough." He agreed and nodded when Eden said they
should head out.
He hoped that the body in the tree would distract anyone from
coming after them for a while. It was too bad that the other two
had been too big to be a body double for him. Ah well,
hopefully, they'd be able to get far enough away before someone
made it to the old place.
Adan managed to keep moving, grateful for Eden's knowledge of
the desert. He never would have made it far on his own. The
short rests helped as well. The weight of the packs and the tent
were starting to get heavier the further they went. Plus..they
made him sink into the sand as he walked. Maybe he should figure
out different footwear to counter that.
He wasn't really sure about napping, but it was hot out and he
was pretty exhausted form the long way they'd come so far. He
tried to relax a bit, using a shirt to shade his face and eyes
from the sun as he tried to nap a little. He turned to look over
at Eden when she spoke to him.
"I"m all right, just..a lot to adjust to is all," He said
softly. His mouth felt a bit dry, but he wasn't going to ask for
water just yet. They had to make what they had last longer. "I
trust you, you've done this before," He reassured her. "Maybe
you could move just to the left a little? Keep the sun off my
face?" He asked, hoping she wouldn't be offended.
He blinked, unsure if he was seeing right or not. It looked like
there was a bird of some kind flying overhead. He kept it to
himself though, unsure if he was just seeing things because of
the heat.
