Neal held his tongue when she called him a jerk. She really had
no clue how hard it was for him to remain a professional around
her. Just looking at her, was enough to turn him on.
Of course, her comment had him shoot her a sharp look. "I
understand you don't like me, but if you keep up those cra.ss
comments you can forget about me helping you." He snapped back
before he turned and stormed away.

Neal headed to the library after finishing his lunch alone in
the cafeteria, still fuming a bit over her comment about his
character. Damn her. He should just get one of the student
tutors to help her. She was the only woman he'd ever been
tempted to do anything with..and it had only been one drunken
kiss. Obviously Bella wasn't a fan and it would probably be
better to find someone else to take over her tutoring if he
could find anyone. The problem with that was he didn't want
anyone else to spend time with her.
He entered the library and glanced around his eyes finally
locking on the young woman sitting near the back of the large
room. Neal let out a sigh and headed over to her.
"All right, let's get to work on the material." He said pulling
out a chair across from her and pulled out his notes from the
first two weeks. "Your test makes me think you either have a
hard time focusing on the class or you have some trouble keeping
up with the reading."

Bella was a little shocked when she saw Neal stare at her with
such... hatred, was really the only way to describe it. The man
stormed away long before she could formulate a response to his
harsh words. "I don't hate you... I love you." Bella said under
her breath, thankful he wasn't nearby to hear her at the moment.
That was the last thing she needed.
Bella was busy working on her annoying math homework, purposely
trying to focus on it. She couldn't afford to fail any classes,
no matter how much she hated it. Bella was actually a bit
thankful when Neal showed up. She didn't think he would,
honestly.
She finally stared up at him before putting away her math
textbook. "I'm surprised you came...." Bella said softly.
Neal sat across from her before he began speaking and mentioning
that she had a hard time focusing on his class. Bella thought
about it for a long time.
"I'm sorry but who's fault is that?" Bella couldn't help but
say. "You kissed me." Bella pointed out with a sigh.

Neal let out a soft sigh when he heard Bella's words. "I don't
want you to fail Bella, I know you need to pass my class," He
replied and pulled out some study cards from his suitcase and
set them in the middle of the table. "I am sorry I snapped at
you earlier, I just..I was annoyed you thought so little of me."
He admitted with a sigh.
He started to go through the notes and highlighted the ones that
she'd missed on the test. He glanced up, raising an eyebrow at
her. "So..you're distracted because you're thinking about our
kiss?" He asked. "My apologies, it's not too late to switch to a
different classroom if you'd like."

Bella sighed as she heard Neal. "Why do you still know me so
well?" Bella asked him softly, thinking about it. Then again,
she had told Neal she would need a scholarship to go to college.
They had texted for a few years once he left school.
Neal's next words had Bella's expression softening. She felt
horrible about it. "I... I don't, Neal." Bella admitted with a
sigh. "I'm still a little upset about everything." Bella finally
said with a sigh.
"Neal, you don't get it..." Bella finally said with a sigh.
Bella felt awkward, and it phased her that she was blushing
bright red.
"For me, it wasn't just a kiss." Bella explained with a sigh.
"Once I realized who you were, I was scre.wed." Bella said with
a sigh. "Neal...God..." Bella said, listening to him.
"I'm not switching classes." Bella said, trying to come up with
the courage to continue her thoughts. It wasn't like she had
anything to lose anymore, and Neal was a married man.
"Neal.... I have been in love with you since I was 12. I never
told you because well, I knew you wouldn't feel the same way. I
overreacted about your wife, I know. I don't know why I ever
thought you would have loved me back." Bella explained with a
sigh. "It's just stupid, and I know that. But it's not that easy
for me to just... stop feeling how I feel for you. Not when I
have to see you three times a week."

"Well..you haven't changed all that much. You're still the same
person on the inside that I knew so many years ago," Neal told
her.
"I should have realized that," Neal said with a sigh of his own.
"I caught you at a vulnerable moment and chose to keep the truth
from you. I can understand why you're upset."
He raised an eyebrow when she went on to say he didn't get it
and then explained that it wasn't just a kiss. He felt horrible
for having led her on that night at the bar and ran a hand
through his hair. It would be better to find a way to distance
himself and he was sure she'd agree. Until she said in a very
determined tone she wasn't going to switch classes.
Neal got a confused look on his face until she finally blurted
out that she had been in love with him and how that she still
was. "Bella, it's not stupid. I am sorry I hurt you so deeply..I
should have told you before we kissed about my marriage."
Neal glanced around the library at the other students. "Can we
go somewhere else to talk? There's something I need to tell
you..something I can't let other people overhear. I understand
if you'd rather not be alone with me right now," He added.
Neal pushed the highlighted page over to her, figuring she'd
just want to go back to studying. "Those are the things you
should focus on and study. I can allow you to do a makeup test
next week if you'd like. But there's only one allowed for the
whole semester,"

Bella smiled as she heard Neal. "You always were my best
friend." Bella said softly. "I'm sorry, Neal. I am. I shouldn't
have taken it that far." Bella said to him with a sigh.
"You should have..." Bella said. "You were drunk, I can't blame
you for that..." Bella said with a sigh. "I was a drunken
mistake and you did try to tell me." Bella pointed out.
Neal got shifty about the whole thing, and Bella watched him.
Bella couldn't help feeling more than a little stupid. How could
she just blurt it out and then what? Expect him to just love her
back? That was insanity.
Bella sighed, looking at Neal carefully. She honestly didn't
know what she was going to do. Thankfully, Neal gave her an out
and she had time to think about it. She gathered up her supplies
and sighed. "I'm not sure now is the time to use a makeup
test..." Bella finally said.
"Fine, where do you want to go then?" Bella finally said,
figuring that she had nothing to lose by following him anyways.

Neal only felt worse when she apologized to him again. "I should
have just told you," He said softly. "Then I wouldn't be making
you feel so terrible."
He nodded slowly when she said it might be better to not use up
her make up test just yet. Even with her F on the test, if she
could get mostly B's on her next tests then she'd be able to
pass. Which meant he'd have to help her study if she was going
to pass.
"All right, we can figure out a study schedule that will work
between our schedules. I am usually free on Saturdays..if that
works for you." He replied.
Neal was a bit surprised when she agreed to go somewhere else to
talk. "How about my office? It's not all that far," He replied
and quickly gathered up his things. "We can continue studying
afterward." He added quickly.
Once she had agreed, he led her out of the library and to the
admin building and up to the second floor where his office was
located. "Have a seat," He said as he sat his things down on his
desk and then sat down in the chair next to her. He took a deep
breath and then let out everything.
"Bella, I have had feelings for you since I first met you. You
were so much younger...I knew I couldn't do anything back then.
I loved you so much..and then I had to leave. I hated leaving
without telling you how I felt. When you found me in the bar and
told me who you were..I felt it rush back over me."
Neal paused and reached to take her hands in his own.
"I didn't marry Lindsey for love or romance. She was my best
friend and roommate..and she got sick. Super sick. We got
married so she could get the help she needed. I care about her,
but we've never had sex..and I've only kissed her the once. On
our wedding day. If anyone were to find out the truth..that
we're living a lie..it would be really bad." He explained and
then reached up to cup her cheek before he leaned in and kissed
her softly on the lips.
"Lindsey said she was okay with having an open marriage, and
that she didn't mind if we wanted to be together. I understand
if you don't believe me though. Especially after what happened."
He said and slowly pulled away from her.

Neal mentioned a study schedule, and suggested Saturdays, making
Bella smile. "I've only got the afternoon on Saturdays. I have
practice. I can't miss soccer practice, games or fail a class or
I lose my scholarship." Bella said.
It didn't take very long for them to wind up in Neal's office,
where he insisted she take a seat. She raised an eyebrow as he
sat down next to her and took a deep breath. Honestly, Bella had
no idea what he wanted to say to her.
Bella wasn't exactly prepared for what Neal said next. It felt
so unreal, listening to Neal telling her that he did have
feelings for her, and he loved her so much. He took her hands in
his own, and Bella blushed.
"You love me?" Bella couldn't help asking, still trying to
process it. It seemed so bizarre to think that Neal loved her
back. Bella had loved him for so long, and hearing he loved her
too was amazing.
Bella listened with a raised eyebrow as Neal admitted he hadn't
married Lindsey for love, and that he married her so she could
be covered by his health insurance. Before she could even
respond, Neal was suddenly kissing her, making Bella let out a
soft moan.
"I don't necessarily believe you about Lindsey, but I don't
care." Bella said to him, moving to sit on his lap and kissing
him passionately. "Neal, I never thought you would ever love me
back. It's all I've ever wanted. To be with my best friend..."
Bella said, running a hand through his hair before kissing him
again.

Neal nodded when Bella reminded him she had soccer practice. He
had seen her in her soccer outfit before and realized she must
have gotten a scholarship because of her soccer skills. Even at
the age of 12, she had been an amazing player from what he
remembered. He would have to try and watch her play one day
soon.
"Of course I do," He replied with a smile. He could see that it
was taking her some time to process what he had said.
Neal was more than a little stunned when Bella replied, saying
she didn't care and then moved into his lap and kissed him back
even more passionately than before. He was panting and getting
very aroused by her being so close.
He managed to smile at her and moved his hands to hold onto her
waist. "I'm happy you feel that way. I was hoping you'd give me
another chance." He murmured back before she leaned back in to
kiss him. Neal pressed in and deepened the kiss further, running
his hands up her back.
He finally pulled back to suck in a lungful of air. "Lindsey has
been asking if you'd want to come over for dinner and trying to
get me to talk to you about everything. So..do you have a free
evening this week? That way you can hear it from her lips."

Bella blushed when Neal said of course he loved her, as if that
was so obvious. It still felt unreal to her, that this was
happening. Bella could feel how aroused Neal was becoming, and
smiled at him happily.
When Neal's hands went to her waist and he spoke, Bella smiled
at him. She didn't have a chance to talk to him before they were
kissing again, Neal deepened their kiss, making her moan softly.
Their kiss finally ended as they needed to breathe, and Bella
finally spoke. "God, the amount of chances I have given you over
the years." Bella said, thinking about it.
"We used to text all the time because I wasn't going to lose my
best friend." Bella explained softly. "I texted both years and
asked you to come home and be my prom date." Bella said to him.
"I had such big plans for those nights. I was going to tell you
I love you, I got hotel rooms, I got rose petals for the bed for
crying out loud."
Bella blushed as she finally listened to Neal as he said that
Lindsey wanted her to go over for dinner and had been trying to
get him to tell her the truth. "So, she knows you never loved
her? You only ever loved me?" Bella asked softly.
"I guess we can do that. Maybe Friday night?" Bella suggested to
Neal.
"Right now, though, I want you, my love." Bella said to him
before kissing him even more passionately this time.
