       Love Rekindled

       ducked into the
corner diner and paused to wipe his wet shoes on the welcome mat
inside. The light mist that had started out that morning had
turned into a rather vigorous rain shower. After living in
Portland for the past six years, he was now used to the sudden
showers that liked to pop up randomly in the fall season.
He glanced around the diner before moving to his regular table
near the front window and took a seat in the booth seat and
pulled the hood of his sweatshirt off and unzipped both his
coats. His foot tapped nervously and his leg shook as he pulled
out his phone to check his messages.
Neal still wasn't sure if meeting up with his old love was a
good idea or not. He hadn't gotten the chance to tell Bella that
he was married and felt a bit bad about not mentioning it the
night before. Though it wasn't like his marriage to Lindsey was
like a normal one. They were more like roommates or close
friends. He'd only married his friend because she had been
really sick and didn't have any health insurance. With his new
job at the university where he was finishing his doctorate, he
had better insurance than an average college student would.
Most people were shocked to find out that he wasn't just a
student, but on the faculty as an assistant to the famous Dr. Ki
Hishimoto. And now with him back in Japan due to a death in his
family; the dean had asked Neal to teach the class until the Dr.
could return. Not that Neal minded; he actually looked forwards
       to the challenge.
Neal looked through the large window and caught sight of Bella
heading down the sidewalk and towards the front door of the
diner. He smiled and stood up, rubbing his hands nervously on
his jeans. "Hey, I'm glad you could make it." He said softly and
moved to give her a gentle hug and then led her to his booth and
sat back down, watching her closely. "So..it's good to see you
again. What have you been up to? How are you gearing up for your
freshman year at college? If you need some advice about
       anything, just ask."

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Lately, life seemed insane to Bella. One moment she had met a
sexy stranger in a bar, and they had gotten very close to having
sex in the restroom, before he stopped them and they walked
away. Except that well, Bella couldn't figure out why he seemed
so familiar. At least not until she started her classes, and
Neal was the student teacher in her class. He introduced himself
with his first and last name on the board, and it all came back
to her. She and Neal had been the best of friends growing up, so
much so that Bella had developed a very big crush on him. Neal
had been her first and only love, only she had never told him.
She'd been a shy gothic girl, and in time she had come to go
back to her beautiful blonde hair, and her tits had come in
pretty massive. Now she was like a ten, and men wanted her
often. But no one could compare to her only real love.
Bella lived in an apartment right on campus and classes had
started that week. Well, Neal had promised to make it up to her
for their almost sex encounter, and somehow, he decided on a
lunch date. When Bella got to the diner, she was slightly
soaked, heading into her date of sorts. She was wearing a very
revealing top and a mini skirt, not thinking much of it. They
had exchanged phone numbers, and Bella had been flirting with
him via text the entire week. It had been so close, Neal had
been hard and they had been making out for some time before he
had pulled away from her. It was a major let down, and maybe
now, Bella wanted to see if he would finally let himself have
       her.
Bella hugged Neal back as he hugged her, then she sat down next
to him. "Hey, Neal." Bella said softly, smiling at him. "You
know, life. Bar hopping." Bella said to him. "I don't know, I'll
ask you if I need your help. It's only week one..." Bella said
softly. "You look sexy, Neal." Bella said to him softly, moving
closer to him and running her hand over his chest boldly.

Neal felt his body tingle at the hug but didn't say anything
about it, still feeling as though he was the biggest jerk in the
world. He was a little surprised when she moved to sit next to
him instead of across from him. "Ah yes, bar hopping, the first
thing a freshman would feel like doing," He replied with a
chuckle. "I've just only recently started with the partying,"
"Well..don't wait too long before asking. I learned that the
hard way, I may be a genius, but even I can be stupid at times,
Speaking of.." here he trailed off when she told him he was sexy
and moved closer and ran her hand over his chest.
He let out a soft groan at her touch, his body shivering. It had
been a long time since he'd been touched like this..and it was
turning him on. "You look pretty amazing yourself Bella," He
       murmured back.
Neal was about to bring up why he had asked her there..when
their waitress arrived and handed a menu to Bella. "What'll you
have Professor?" The young woman asked with a coy smile.
"It's Neal, Amelia. And I'll have the breakfast platter with
french toast and sausage, oh and a cup of coffee with cream," He
ordered easily. Carla's Diner was the one place he frequented
practically every day, due to the fact he didn't like cooking
all day long. "Oh throw in a half a dozen cinnamon rolls to go,"
       He added,

Bella smirked as she heard Neal's words. "I'm pretty sure you
haven't forgotten our encounter in that bar." Bella said with a
wink. "Such a tease." Bella joked softly.
When he mentioned not to wait too long, Bella smirked in
amusement. "I mean, I'm not sure I'm going to be any good at
that class you're teaching." Bella said to him with a smile.
"If I offered to be your personal slu.t, would you give me a
good grade?" Bella asked him flirtatiously, moving closer to him
so she could show her ti.ts off to him more. "I'll do anything
you want to do, Neal. You could tie me up or do bdsm things with
       me." Bella suggested.
Bella smiled as she heard the soft groan escape from Neal's
mouth. "You know, I had the biggest crush on you..." Bella
admitted with a blush as she teased Neal with her hand.
When the waitress showed up, Bella couldn't help but notice the
girl's attempt to sort of flirt.
"You're popular with the women, aren't you, Neal?" Bella said
softly. It hadn't occurred to her that she would have
competition for the man who had always had her heart. Bella
ordered french toast before she went back to being cuddly with
       Neal.
"Wanna make out more?" Bella asked him boldly. "That was pretty
fun. Or we could go somewhere private." Bella teased him,
wondering why he had rejected her in the first place when it was
so obvious he wanted her right now.

Neal's face reddened at her wink and her reminding him of what
had happened the night before. It hadn't really been him at his
best. He'd been rather hammered and not the gentleman he
normally was. "Well..there's a reason for that," He said trying
to think of a way to break it to her that he wasn't single.
"Biology is pretty tough to take your freshman year," He agreed.
"I uh.." He blushed again at her offer. "If I did that for you,
I'd have to do it for everyone." He replied biting his bottom
       lip.
Neal couldn't help but look up at her with a surprised look on
his face when she suggested he could tie her up or do BDSM
things to her. Gods..why did this have to happen now? After
everything, it seemed as though he was being majorly tested with
the temptation with the one girl he'd been in love with.
"What?" He asked looking even more stunned when she admitted to
having had a big crush on him. He'd never even thought she had
noticed him, let alone felt this way back when she was an
       incoming freshman in high school.
"Uh..well somewhat I suppose. I try to dissuade them, but with
being so young, it doesn't always work," He said with a sigh.
Neal was slowly losing the battle against his morals and what
his body wanted. Bella's body cuddling up to him was making him
feel even hornier than he thought was possible. Maybe it was
because he'd been celibate for the past three years since he'd
gotten married..or he just couldn't say no to her. "There's
something we need.." He started to say and then trailed off,
flinching as Lindsey herself came through the diner's door and
waved at him before coming over to slide into the booth seat
       across from them.
"Hello, Hubby, who's your friend?" Lindsey asked in her soft
melodic voice as she pulled off her coat and set it around her.
"This is Bella Thorne," He managed to get out, as he slowly
moved back from the busty blonde. He hoped that neither woman
would kill him. "She's an old friend of mine. We went to the
same high school..though she was a few years behind me.
She's..in the biology class I'll be teaching." He explained
quickly and shot an apologetic look at Bella. "Bella, this
       is..my wife Lindsey,"
"Oh..how wonderful! It's nice to meet you, Bella, We'll have to
have you over for dinner sometime this week, or next week,
whichever works best for you." The small blonde woman said with
a friendly smile as she adjusted her headband.

Bella raised an eyebrow as she heard Neal saying there was a
reason for that. It made her think maybe he was with someone
else. Why would that surprise her? It had been years since they
       had even been friends.
Neal blushed at her offer, but then got weird and said he'd have
to let anyone sleep with him for a good grade. "You're no fun."
Bella said to him, wondering why he wouldn't just give into it
       for once.
When Neal looked stunned at her confession, Bella smiled. "We
were best friends... Of course I wanted you in that way..."
Bella said, deciding it didn't matter if she said it now. Neal
       had made himself clear already.
Neal trailed off in the middle of his conversation, apparently
to stare at the woman who had entered the room. It made Bella
feel so small and unwanted. The woman referred to him as her
       hubby, and Bella glared.
He introduced her, and Bella stared before getting up. His
apologetic look was nothing compared to the pure rage in her
eyes. "Wow. You're a piece of sh.it." Bella said, slapping him
       hard across the face.
"How dare you?" Bella said. "You made out with me when you're
fu.cking married?" Bella hissed in an annoyed tone. "You
probably put that hard di.ck of yours in her after our
encounter." Bella said in an annoyed tone.
"Don't text me, don't call me, don't even look in my direction.
I want nothing to do with you, Neal." Bella hissed out, grabbing
her umbrella. "I mean, fu.ck me for ever liking you. That was a
huge mistake that I'm never making again."
With that, Bella walked out the door and headed to her
apartment. She was glad her rage was covering up the hurt that
would no doubt be on her face otherwise. Bella walked quickly,
trying to get to her apartment where she could fall apart in
private. It was heartbreaking, knowing she loved such a terrible
man, but she wasn't going to let him know that. As far as she
was concerned, Neal was dead to her. She had her closure on that
       whole situation.

Neal was cursing inwardly for how everything had gone down. He
knew Bella would feel as though he had led her on..and she was
right. He should have told her last night before he had kissed
her. Even if he had been drunk..it was still his mistake and not
       hers.
The slap to the side of his face caused his eyes to smart from
the pain, but he didn't say anything as she laid into him,
tearing him down with her words. He felt like the worst person
in the world. He had majorly fu.cked up..and knew he deserved
her anger. It didn't really matter that she was wrong about his
being sexually active with his wife. The sad thing was; he'd
never had sex with her in the years they'd been married.
He sat still in his seat, as she stormed out of the diner and
ran a hand through his hair, wondering how Lindsey was going to
react to everything that had just gone down. He finally looked
up at her after a few moments and was rather surprised to see
that Lindsey didn't have an angry look on her face but a sad
       one.
"You shouldn't have married me..even if you did it to help me,
Neal. Especially since you were in love with Bella. You need to
apologize to her. Explain to her why we got married and that you
didn't do it too because you loved me." Lindsey said softly.
Neal sighed. "I don't think she wants to talk to me Linds. I do
care for you, but you're right. It's not the same sort of love."
He agreed and ran his hand through his hair again.
"Well..if you truly care about her you'll find a way to tell
her. It's not like we will be married too much longer. The
doctor's say I could be better soon," Lindsey said glancing down
and to the left. "Then..we can annul the marriage. Since
       well..it's never been consummated."
While Neal was happy to hear that she was doing better and that
he'd be free to possibly one day go after the woman he loved.
Still..he would be sad that his best friend would be moving out.
He reached across the table to squeeze her hand gently. "We'll
still be friends, promise me," Neal said softly.
"Sure. of course we will. Just..don't give up on finding real
love, Neal. And..I'd be okay in having an open marriage. It's
not like I could give you what you need. She wouldn't be so
angry with you if she didn't love you."
       ------------------------------------
It took two long weeks of watching Bella flirting with other
guys and going on with her life, making Neal feel terrible
before she approached him after her first bombed test in
       Biology.
"Can I help you with something?" He asked as he went over some
papers at the desk in the classroom. Neal was pretty sure that
she was going to ask him to tutor her in biology, and was
prepared to send her to the tutoring lab. After all, she didn't
really want to spend time with him. At least not after he'd hurt
       her so much.
Though he wanted to tell her the truth, he could tell she wasn't
       ready to hear it.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
For two weeks, Bella avoided Neal as much as possible. She still
had his class, but she didn't care at all to even listen to him.
She spent most of the classes flirting and making out with frat
boys, and once she learned they lived but two doors down from
one another, Bella started bringing the men home, just to rub it
in Neal's face that she was spreading her legs for anyone but
him. It wasn't like her love for Neal would go away just by
sleeping around, but at least that helped get her mind off of
       it.
Neal had made himself more than a little clear about where she
stood, and maybe she had been insane to hope he might have
feelings for her in the first place. It had been too long, not
to mention that to Neal, she was probably only a stupid kid
       before he left.
Besides, it wasn't like she had even developed by then. She had
just been a black haired goth girl with no breasts at all. No
one had wanted her, so why should Neal have?
Bella wasn't shocked that she failed her first test in the
biology class. She hadn't been trying at all. The only problem
was that she couldn't fail classes. Bella's family was not rich
by any means, and she was only allowed to go to college on a
scholarship, which she could not lose.
It was a sports scholarship for soccer, and of course she went
to all the practices. When she finally made up her mind to go
see Neal, Bella had just come off of practice. She was still
wearing the tank top and short shorts she wore to practice, with
her blonde hair in a ponytail.
Bella sighed before she spoke to Neal, looking him over. "I need
you to tutor me." Bella said bluntly. "It is literally the least
you can do for me." Bella pointed out to him.

Neal glanced up from his work to see Bella was dressed in a
form-fitting tank top and super short shorts and raised his eyes
to her face. Why the hell did he have to be so attracted to her?
She obviously was never going to give him the time of day, not
unless she wanted something from him.
"Fine, what time would work for you this afternoon? We can meet
up at the university library," He added knowing that the library
would be busy and that would keep him from succumbing to his
desires. "I have to be done by 6 pm," He added, not saying why.
Neal was pretty sure mentioning that he needed to be done to
pick Lindsey up from the hospital wouldn't go over well with
Bella. As long as he kept it professional between them it would
       be for the best.
He rose from the desk and gathered up his things and then
reached for his jacket and glanced at the clock. "If you don't
mind, I have to get going. I only have an hour for lunch, we
could meet up after unless you have a class."

Bella noticed that Neal was not even hardly looking at her, but
she decided to ignore that fact. He seemed annoyed that she had
even bothered to talk to him. "You don't have to be a jerk."
Bella pointed out, not that it mattered to her. It seemed that
       was who Neal was.
"Whatever, fine." Bella said in response. "After lunch is fine."
Bella finally said to him. She wasn't really that thrilled to be
spending time with him, but she needed to pass this damn class.
When Neal got up and grabbed his things before mentioning that
he only had an hour for lunch, which made Bella laugh. "Go enjoy
your little who.re of the week." Bella said to him in a huff.
       --------------------
Bella went to the library after talking to Neal, feeling like he
wouldn't show up. She got to work at one of the desks in the
back of the library, not thinking about the possibility that it
was more private. She just needed her own space to try to figure
       this out.
While she waited, Bella went to work on her math homework. She
wasn't particularly good at math either, but she didn't want to
think about Biology... Well, not so much Biology, but Neal.
Bella didn't want to think about Neal, no matter how much she
still loved him. He didn't want her, and besides, he was
       married, she couldn't trust him.
