       Assistant or Lover?
By: Minyaagar Date: July 26, 2020, 6:33 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Rowen Harmon was more than a little annoyed that his Personal
Assistant had given her resignation and left his employ only an
hour ago. That wasn't the normal protocol, nor had he seen it
coming. After having his security team do some investigation on
his former PA, he'd discovered the woman who had been working
for him for the past two years had been hiding a romance from
everyone. She and her lover had eloped to get married, due to
rather personal reasons between their families.
The business mogul had his secretary set up an appointment
through a reputable company to find him a new Personal
assistant. He was pleased when he was able to meet with the
first candidate only an hour later. He grabbed his coat and
headed out to his town car. His bodyguard, Trey was waiting
there for him. The overly muscular man shot him a grin and
       joined him in the car.
"So..I hear Vera ran off with her secret lover. Guess you're
going to look for a new PA." The man drawled eyeing Rowen
       closely.
"That is where we are going now. It's actually a relief that I
can get coffee during this meeting. My day is going to be very
busy. Especially getting prepped and packed so we can get off to
France." Rowen replied and pulled out his work phone to look
over his schedule. "With any luck, this first candidate will be
exactly what I am looking for."
The two men were soon let out at Rowen's regular coffee shop and
they headed inside. "The description says she's a redhead," He
said as he looked around the shop.
"Looks safe enough here, want me to order for you so you can
       look around?" Trey asked.
"Yeah, you know what I like," Rowen replied, he'd already spied
a gorgeous redhaired woman glancing around and looking a bit
nervous. He approached her and came to a stop a few feet from
her table. "Are you Ms. Arielle Young? I believe you are
expecting me. I'm Rowen Harmon, shall we start the interview
now? Or do you need a few moments?" He asked as he took in her
exquisite beauty. He couldn't help but wonder if he would be
able to work with a woman so attractive. It would prove
difficult he was sure, but he could be a professional if she
possessed the skills he would need in an assistant.

Arielle was...nervous. The reality was that she was pretty sure
she wasn't qualified to be a personal assistant to some business
mogul, but the harsh reality was that she did not have many
options. She was down on her luck. Well, that was mostly her
entire life. She was really poor, and she was living in a
dangerous neighborhood in a small studio apartment, just barely
even getting enough to make rent every month. She had been
referred to this job by the hiring place she worked with, and
honestly, it was probably not the best fit. But she would have
       to try her best here.
She used what little money she had for an iced tea while waiting
for this man, by the name of Rowen Harmon. Arielle felt very out
of place in this sort of upscale coffee shop in a part of town
she'd never really been. It definitely contributed to her nerves
at the moment. Not to mention, Arielle was not prepared for the
man who had walked up to her. He was so handsome, and even his
voice was a bit sultry. Not that she was going to say anything.
It took Arielle a moment before she smiled up at the standing
man. "Yeah, I'm Arielle." Arielle smiled at him. "Sure, we can
start if you're ready." Arielle said.

Rowen took in the younger woman, noting her clothes and how she
held herself as she replied to him. He could tell that she was
out of her element and feeling nervous, but he didn't so much
care about that. WHat he needed the most was someone that
wouldn't mind traveling alongside him at the drop of a hat.
"It's nice to meet you, Ms. Young." Rowen replied as he pulled
the chair out and sat down across fro her. "To be honest, I am
in a bit of a hurry. I am supposed to leave for France tomorrow
for a business trip, so the meeting may be a bit rushed."
Once he had that out of the way he started asking questions,
       giving her time to answer them. Most were professional ones;
dealing with helping him get his work done efficiently.
"As my personal assistant, you would oversee and help me with
day to day things as well as prepping for my overseas trips.
Often times I'd have you accompany me, and keep me apprised of
what's going on at the company office here. Do you think you
would be able to manage all that? We would start out with a
two-week trial run, if it works out, then it will become a
permanent job. I'll pay you $5000 for the two week period, and
after that, we can negotiate a yearly salary."
He had just finished when Trey arrived and handed him a coffee
cup. "Thank you, this is my bodyguard Trey. Oh..do you have a
passport? If you decide you want the job, I'll need you to come
to France with me. If you can call me and let me know by
tonight..say 8, I would appreciate it." Rowen added and handed
her one of his business cards.

Arielle wasn't that surprised when Rowen mentioned that he was
in a hurry. She had seen how he seemed to not totally want to be
in the midst of this, aside from the fact that he needed an
assistant. It felt like things went by in quite a blur. It
seemed like the man was very rushed as he asked his questions
quickly. It felt like she was living in some sort of chaotic
world where she kind of didn't know if she was even doing any
       good with the questions.
When he explained the job duties, and that she would need to do
a lot to be his personal assistant, Arielle smiled. "Ah, yes, I
can handle that." Arielle said. Of course, nothing would have
prepared Arielle for what he said he would pay her for two
weeks. $5000 for two weeks of work? She raised an eyebrow and a
bit of a look of pure shock crossed her face. God, she had never
seen so much money. Hell, that was a lot of money for her.
Arielle barely made her $500 rent most months, let alone
afforded food for herself. Without you know, sleeping with her
landlord as a rent payment, and selling some drugs to make
enough to buy food every month.
Rowen kept going and Arielle realized he was completely serious.
"I do have a passport... And I will take the job. Let me know
how long I need to pack for? Or would you rather approve my
clothing choices?" Arielle asked, realizing she probably didn't
fit in with the clothes she had considering he was rich, and she
was poor. Hell, this was her nicest dress anyways.

Had Rowen not been so desperate, he might have paid more mind to
the niggling doubt in the back of his head. He missed the look
of shock on her face, thanks to Trey's arrival but that probably
wouldn't have stopped him from taking the chance on the
attractive young woman. He was a sucker for redhead women,
especially ones with green alluring eyes. Both of which Arielle
       had.
"That's great!" Rowen said with a grin and checked the time on
his phone. "We'll be in France for five days, and right now they
are in their fall weather, so., pack warm clothes."
He stood up and paused when she suggested he might want to
approve of her clothing choices. THat's when he took the moment
to check out her dress a bit more closely and his mouth went
       dry.
The dress was tight and accentuated all her curves perfectly,
cut low enough to show off her well-endowed chest. "Ah..that
might be a good idea. If you have some time now, can we give you
a ride home? I have another hour before I have to get back to
       the office.

Arielle realized that this might be a bit crazy. Her new boss
was handsome, and so totally out of her league. Hell, she'd be
lucky if they slept together, but she wasn't exactly hoping for
that. Arielle stood up, grabbing her purse and her drink,
assuming the man was going to leave. Not to mention, she had to
figure this mess out. How was she going to do this? Would this
job even work out? Considering the fact that this was a world
she couldn't understand. It wasn't like she was pretty enough to
skate by with work by being slutty. Being slutty only got her so
       far in life.
Arielle soon realized that the man was checking her out.
Granted, she had mentioned it a tiny bit, but he was really
checking her out. Not that she wasn't subtly checking him out
herself. He was so hot, honestly. When he mentioned it might be
a good idea, Arielle smiled. "Uhm... yeah. Sure." Arielle said
to him, before thinking about it.
"Look, before we do that... uhm, I'll be honest.... I'm going
to try my best to do anything you need from me.." Arielle said
to him, before sighing. "Just... try not to be one of those rich
guys that you know, gets all judgy." Arielle said to him,
pulling out her phone to check texts. it was a little flip phone
that was older than probably even Rowen, but it did what she
       needed.

Rowen forced himself to look up from her chest and into her
eyes, feeling like a jerk for checking her out so blatantly. "My
apologies," He said softly and stepped back to adjust his tie.
He caught the knowing smirk on Trey's face and let out a sigh
before turning his attention back to Arielle as she replied.
"Oh I have faith in you, I know you will do your best," He
assured her quickly. Rowen was surprised when she asked him to
not be too judgy. It made him wonder what sort of situation the
       young woman found herself in.
"I will do my best," He assured her. His eyes widened at the
sight of the old flip phone in her hand. "We will have to stop
by the electronics store as well," He added. "If you're ready,
we should get going," He motioned for her to follow and then let
Trey take the lead towards the door.
The three of them were soon climbing into the town car, with
Trey in the front seat next to the driver. Rowen opened the back
door to let Arielle in and then went around to get in on the
other side. Rowen turned to regard Arielle again a bit more
closely now that they were seated next to one another.
"The driver will need your address. What's your favorite color?
Just so I know what color you want for your new work phone.
Would you prefer a tablet or a notebook for work?

Arielle winked as she noticed that Rowen realized what he had
been doing, and even apologized. She wasn't about to deny that
the man was sexy, and she sort of liked him checking her out. He
was sweet as he said that he had faith in her. She was sort of
glad he said nothing about her statement. Arielle was used to
the looks she got with her flip phone, and she couldn't help but
smirk in amusement. "It does what a phone is supposed to."
Arielle pointed out. She chose to ignore him as he stated they
would have to go to an electronics store. She let him lead her
off to a car and even opened the door for her. He was really a
different guy, she had to give him that credit.
Now, they were sitting right next to one another in the
backseat. It had Arielle smiling as she looked at Rowen. He
really was cute, especially smiling at her. She gave the address
to the driver, who seemed to look at both Rowen and Trey as if
to clarify that this was really where they wanted to go. She got
that a lot, even just taking cabs home. Arielle raised an
eyebrow as Rowen asked her favorite color, before continuing to
say that she needed a new phone. She decided not to comment
about it, despite the fact that she got by fine with her phone.
Of course, things would have to change for her to work for him.
"Pink." Arielle finally said to him with a smile. When he
mentioned a tablet or a notebook, Arielle sighed. It felt weird,
she knew this was work necessities, but it was more than she had
ever had. "Uhhhhh." Arielle said, trying to think about it. This
was going to get complicated fast. "I think... it's going to
depend. Do you travel a lot?" Arielle asked him while watching
       him.
       "I don't live in the...safest neighborhood. I'd just... prefer
not to have too many expensive things in my apartment. I guess
the notebook... But again, I am nervous about it. I'd really
prefer not to give people reasons to break into my apartment."
Arielle said to him. She didn't really know why she was being so
candid, but weirdly, he was sort of easy to talk to. It didn't
take long for them to get to her apartment building, and Arielle
sighed as she grabbed her keys. Her next move was to rifle
through her purse before locating her brass knuckles and
slipping them onto her other hand. Arielle then realized how
crazy she seemed, and she spoke softly. "What? I'm a single
female, and trust me, there's not much people won't try."
Arielle explained before she got out and headed to her apartment
with a sigh. She unlocked her door and opened it before letting
out a loud sigh. She moved the brass knuckles back to her purse
before she looked at the male in her apartment.
Arielle narrowed her eyes and sighed. "Dude, get the fuck out."
Arielle pointed out with a sigh. "We've been over this." Arielle
didn't entirely realize that Rowen was right behind her, but she
was more focused on Dan. "It's still super illegal for you to
just come into my apartment without my consent." Arielle pointed
       out.
The man looked her up and down before he spoke. "Pay your rent,
Ari." The man pointed out, before taking one hand and grabbing
one of her breasts and the other grabbed her ass. "Unless of
course, you can't." He taunted, before he spoke again. "In that
case, you have a week per our arrangement." He said to her,
feeling her up through her clothes. "Don't forget how I like to
see you, slut." The man said, slapping her ass before he walked
       out of the room.
It was then that she realized that Rowen was behind her, and had
most likely heard all of that encounter. "Can you just...
pretend that you didn't hear or see that whole thing?" Arielle
pointed out, finally shutting her door and pointing to the
closet. "I'll be right back." Arielle said to Rowen, before she
walked off to the bathroom. It was the only real privacy she had
right now, so she locked herself in and sighed as she looked
herself over in the mirror. "Well, today has been fantastic.
Where exactly did I go wrong here?" Arielle said to herself
before she went back, sighing. When she saw Rowen, Arielle
looked at him for a long moment.
"I think that's enough for probably ever. Feel free to leave,
honestly Rowen." Arielle said to him. "I am so sorry you had to
see all of that." Arielle said, before sighing. "If nothing
else, that should probably have been a red flag for you. If not
then, I don't think I can do this. I'm sorry you drove out here,
I am." Arielle said, feeling out of it and going to make herself
some tea. "It's just more and more obvious that this was a bad
idea. I belong in this world, I certainly wouldn't fit in with
you as an employee or anything." Arielle pointed out, focusing
       on her tea.

Rowen couldn't help but shake his head and chuckle at her words.
"True, but you will need something that does more than just call
people when you start working for me." He pointed out.
He nodded to the driver when he shot a look at him and Trey. He
knew the area wasn't a very good one, but he was trying to
reserve judgment and be more open-minded. He did wonder what had
brought her to live in such an area, but he imagined there had
to be a story behind it.
"Pink it is, and I could just get you a smartphone that does
everything. I can understand your reservation on having
something expensive that someone might try and steal. There will
be laptops at work and during our trips that you can use if that
would help. I do travel a lot, usually overseas." He said
       thoughtfully.
He wanted to try and work with her so that she'd feel
comfortable..but he wasn't anywhere near prepared to see her
pulling out brass knuckles. He shot a look over at Trey and saw
his bodyguard and friend looking around warily, keeping an eye
       out for would-be attackers.
"I'm not judging," He assured her.
Rowen stiffened, and he heard Trey growl when Arielle discovered
the man inside her apartment. He was fuming and more than pissed
off at how the man treated Arielle. He felt like ripping the
man's throat out and throttling him and probably would have if
Trey hadn't grabbed his arm and held him back. "Don't worry
boss, he's gonna get some much-needed punishment,"
Hearing Trey's ghetto voice in his ear assured Rowen that his
bodyguard wasn't going to let the man's atrocious behavior go
unpunished. "Good," He murmured back, glaring at the loathsome
       man as he sauntered out.
Trey pulled away to trail after the man, Rowen was more than a
little surprised that Arielle was asking him to pretend he
hadn't seen anything. "I'm not going anywhere, take your time,"
He assured her and moved to look around her small apartment
       while he waited.
When she finally came back out and told him that she couldn't
take the job and that it had been a bad idea, he shook his head
at her. "I don't agree. You deserve so much better than that.
That man should be thrown in jail for what he did. No man should
ever treat any woman in that way," He argued, though he didn't
       move to invade her space.
He turned when he heard muffled screams coming through her wall
and winced when thumps and the sound of a fist hitting flesh and
bone echoed through the thin walls. "Well..sounds like Trey is
taking care of the trash," He commented.
The screams petered off and there was only silence. A few
moments passed before Trey pushed his way back into the
apartment, his shirt spattered with blood and blood on his
fists. "You mind if I use your sink Arielle? I had a talk with
the guy about keeping his hands to himself. If he gives you any
more trouble you let me know," Trey said. "We should probably
       get going soon, boss."
"Uh yeah we should. Arielle, I know our worlds are completely
different, and it won't be easy, but I still want you to work
for me. At least try the two weeks, if you don't like it I'll
let you go. If you do, and you want to stay I"ll give you a
bonus. A year's worth of rent at any place you choose,"

Arielle nodded as she heard Rowen. "Fair point." Arielle said.
"I'll make it work, since it seems like I'll need one." Arielle
finally said. Arielle couldn't help noticing how Rowen and Trey
both reacted to her landlord. Hell, this was a normal day for
her. It was honestly weird to see it from someone else's
       perspective.
When Trey followed Dan, Arielle simply stared. When Rowen spoke
to her, Arielle smirked in amusement. "You're so cute." Arielle
said offhandedly. "We really are from very different worlds. I
have to give you credit." Arielle said, not realizing she was
being quite so candid. "Regardless of how much I hate it, and I
do, don't get me wrong, I'm not going to deny my life choices."
Arielle said. "For some people," Arielle said, gesturing to
Rowen. "life is easy. And I mean, yay for you."
Arielle said. "Look, this is the cheapest place I could live and
I can never make rent. So yeah in case that wasn't super
obvious, I do sleep with him in exchange for my rent being
waived. It's not fun, but it is what it is. It's usually either
that or I pay rent and can't afford food for the month." Arielle
finally said, deciding to push Rowen and see why he really
wanted to keep going with her, learning all of this about her.
She wanted to convince him not to choose her now that she was
really remembering how worthless she was.
It wasn't until she started to hear the screaming and thumps of
fists hitting bone and flesh before Arielle realized why Trey
had looked so familiar. She nodded when Trey asked to use her
sink as she thought about it. "And now I remember why he looked
familiar." Arielle mused aloud. "Uh, you didn't... have to do

this because you think I'm an easy sl.ut, why don't you just
