Plot line
Sean Martins has been a pretty prolific author since
finishing high school and going through two years of college. He
never finished, but went into writing freelance for a while
before starting his first supernatural thriller, and started his
series. He wrote ten novels in those five years. Now he’s trying
to start something new, as his last book finished out the
series. He’s have problems and wants to start a new genre. He’s
not sure if he can though, as everything he writes he hates.
Cue his publicist (who is coworkers with his ex girlfriend’s
publicist) suggesting he try and co wrote with another famous
writer from his small town. He’s not really been back to
Washington town in the last five years, and isn’t so sure he
wants to, as he knows his ex-girlfriend still lives there. He
has no idea that the writer he’s been paired with is her.
Sierra Walsh has been a very active author since finishing high
school. She is a teen fiction author who focuses on witches and
romances. She'd written her first book in her freshman year of
college, when she'd been put on bed rest for the last three
months of her pregnancy with her daughter, Mireya. She's written
8 books, two four book series. Recently she's been trying to
break into supernatural thrillers, so her publicist wanted her
to work with another famous author from her small town, she just
doesn't know that person is her ex boyfriend, the man she
thought was the love of her life.
Their first meeting doesn’t go so well, though neither of them
disagree to working with one another outright. It takes them a
while, maybe a few weeks to talk and calm down and decided they
could do it, though they are going back and forth or meeting at
public places to work on their story and brainstorm ideas.
After a rather great session, Sierra gets a frantic call from
her friend who has been watching her daughter. Mireya has been
hit by a car, and is in need of surgery. She’s got a rare blood
type and needs a donor, though there is usually blood on hand,
tonight they had to use it on someone else. This is how Sean is
told and finds out that he’s got a daughter.
Once they finally have their confrontation and talk about how
and why Sierra broke up with him, Sean is pretty pissed. It had
been his brother that had been making out with the other girl,
not him. (Possibly thinking that his brother had been sent off
to a military school for how rebellious and belligerent he was,
and had just returned to see Sean graduate. He may or may not
blame his brother for ruining what he had with Sierra when he
finds out. He’ll later forgive him, but it may take awhile.)
Once they end up talking and understanding one another, they
will end up deciding to go out of the hustle and bustle of
Seattle so they can focus on their daughter getting better and
working on their book in some small town in Washington. NOT
their hometown. They don’t want distractions. Some super small
town, and they’ll stay on the outskirts of it.
They slowly fall back in love, as they are writing the book and
trying to finish it in the three or four months they have to
finish the first draft. Might take longer to work on the second
draft.(Hopefully by this time they’ll be ready to get married or
married)
Some sort of confrontation between Sean and his parents when
they find out he’s back with Sierra. They’ll feel terrible when
they find out that they have a granddaughter they never knew
about. Especially when they find out she’s been in an accident
and is still recovering.

---------------------------------------------------------
Sean Martins paced back and forth in front of his publicists
desk as the bespeckled Chase Harper read over the first draft
for his proposed new book. He paused when he saw the man
frowning and pulling his glasses of to tap them against his
hand.
“Okay so it's crap like I thought it was, no need to spare my
feelings,” Sean barked and shoved his hands into his jeans
pockets sighing heavily.
He moved to slump in a chair across from the desk and scuffed
one of his shoes over the carpet.
“Sean maybe you should stick with what you do well. You don’t
have to start over in a new genre. It’s only been a few months
since you finished your supernatural thriller series. There’s
talk of hollywood directors vying to offer you good money to
turn them into movies. It doesn’t have to be over,” Chase told
him setting the third attempt Sean had made to start and try a
new genre.
“I don’t want to be just a one genre writer. I want to be better
than that! I won’t let them take liberties with my books. You
know how they twist and change things to their liking. I will
get it, i just need more time.” Sean replied running his fingers
through his short blonde hair.
“Hmm well maybe you need another mind to shoot ideas off of.
Judith Row, you remember Judy from high school don’t you? Well
she’s got an author with a similar problem. Maybe Judy and I can
get the both of you together and you both could see if you can
help one another.
I can see the headlines now, Harper and Row present the newest
book written and co-authored by their top selling Authors. It
would be good for the both of you and the company. You know book
sales are down what with kindles and ebooks being a big deal
these days.”
Sean rubbed his chin as he listened to his old friend and
thought back to his high school days. He hadn’t thought of those
days in a long time. It used to bring back memories of a better
more carefree time. Time that was filled with more than just the
daily grind.
“I recall Judy,” he replied with a sigh. “I do still owe you for
being the one to take my first manuscript to your uncle. You
helped me get my foot in the door. Harper and Row has been good
to me, you know I’d do anything I can to help.”
A half hour later, Chase had worked out a meeting between the
two writers and the publicists at a bistro in downtown Seattle
for the next day at 1 pm. Sean left feeling rather hopeful that
working with another writer might help him out. He had the
strangest sense that his life was about to make an abrupt about
face after Chase told him the other writer was from the small
town they had grown up in. If he had known just who he’d be
coming face to face with the next day, he might have never gone.

er]
Sean woke the next morning feeling rather excited about the
meeting. He had hours to go, so he filled them with his normal
routine. A brisk jog around the neighborhood took up a good
hour, that was followed by a lukewarm shower to cool off.
Once he was dressed, Sean ate a quick breakfast of eggs and
toast and left to get some coffee. As was his habit when not
working he went to his favorite local bookstore. He bought his
large coffee and went browsing through the bin of old out of
print half priced books. He picked out a few that interested
him, paid for them and moved to sit in chair to read the
morning away.
He finished two of the books by 11:30 and gathered up his things
and walked back to his loft apartment. He added his new books to
an already overstuffed shelf and glanced over his outfit
closely.
“It should work well enough,” he said to himself and grabbed his
car keys.
The drive downtown wasn’t too far from where he lived, but the
traffic like always was terrible. He was maybe fifteen minutes
early when he pulled into the restaurant’s parking lot and
parked. He made his way into the upscale bistro and gave his
publicist’s name to the host up front.
“Ah, you are the first of the party to arrive. Right his way
Sir,” the man said in a pleasant tone and led the way to a
private area. “would you like a drink while you wait?”
“Yes, water please,” Sean replied taking a seat.
Soon enough he was joined by Chase and Judy. They ordered iced
tea and chatted with him while they waited for the last of their
party to arrive. Sean was getting oddly eager to find out who it
might be. He couldn’t have predicted whom would show up in his
wildest dreams.

---------------------------------------------------------
A normal day for Sierra Walsh consisted of her waking up around
5am. Her first instinct was to go for a morning run around the
neighborhood, thankfully Mireya was a heavy sleeper, and it
would take until around 6 to wake the seven-year-old. Sierra’s
run lasted half an hour before she went back inside and hopped
into the shower. After that, Sierra would brush her teeth, get
dressed in a simple tank, jeans and her favorite leather jacket.
The woman would put on a light amount of makeup and let her wavy
brown hair down.
After that, Sierra focused on making breakfast for her baby
girl. Not so little anymore, but Mira would always be her baby.
Normally, Sierra would take the time to make her daughter eggs,
pancakes and bacon. Today, however, Sierra had no time for that.
There was a meeting she had to be at with her publicist right
after she dropped off Mireya.
Sierra got Mireya ready for school before they ate breakfast
together. After that, Sierra loaded her into her car before she
headed out, dropping Mireya off at the elementary school before
she headed to her publicist’s office.
A half-written manuscript was placed on the desk of Judith Row.
Sierra sat across from her longtime friend, sighing heavily. She
knew it was a terrible book. This breaking into a new genre,
older audience, was not going so well for Sierra .
The older woman sighed, “So I have an idea, Sierra. We’ve been
through this a couple of times now. I think you should consider
co-writing a book with another author. A coworker has another
author who’s struggling. It would be good publicity, our best
authors co-writing a book.”
Sighing, Sierra frowned. “Sure, set it up.” At this point,
Sierra needed all the help she could get. It was infuriating to
her that she couldn’t write anything. The meeting was set for
the next day at 1pm. If only she had known who she would see
when she walked through those doors, she would never have gone.
----------------
The next morning, Sierra followed her normal routine, going on
her run, making breakfast and getting Mira off to school. Today,
Sierra wore a short grey dress and high heels, along with her
leather jacket. She went to her favorite bakery, getting a slice
of her favorite cake and taking a seat. For most of the morning,
Sierra sat around in the bakery.
Until she got an unusual call around twelve thirty, needing to
pick up Mira. Sierra mentally cursed as she saw the time. She
hopped into her car and headed off to the school, getting there
at about twelve forty. Haphazardly, Sierra texted her publisher,
saying she might be late.
Judy apologized to the two males sitting at the table beside
her, on behalf of Sierra. In the meantime, they made small talk.
Sierra, meanwhile, was stuck in a conversation with the
elementary school’s principal. Apparently, her darling daughter
had punched another student. She’d been suspended for a week.
All because some boy had shoved her into a wall and tried to
kiss her. Sierra had to avoid laughing at that one, especially
from doing anything but seeming proud of her daughter.
It was already twelve fifty, when she left the school with
Mireya. The drive took fifteen minutes, with Sierra telling Mira
she was actually proud of her for sticking up for herself
against those boys. While she drove, Sierra reminded Mireya that
she’d need to behave when they got where they were going.
At exactly one o’five, Sierra wandered into the building with
Mireya’s hand in hers. She spoke softly to the host before being
led to a table. As she caught a glimpse of the male sitting
there, Sierra stopped dead in her tracks. Oh no. This was not
happening. God, he looked even more handsome than the last time
she’d seen him. Her heart hurt just looking at him. But then,
she’d never loved anyone else, let alone stopped loving him, but
he had broken her heart. Sierra had half a mind to turn around
and walk out the door before Sean even saw her. Unfortunately,
Judy saw her and waved at her before getting up to lead her to
the table.
“You brought Mira,” Judy said as she walked with Sierra to the
table.
“Not by choice,” Sierra said.
Finally, she moved to help Mira get seated before taking the
empty seat next to Sean. She got water for herself and the kid,
worrying Sean would connect the dots and figure out Mireya was
his daughter. There had to be a way out of this and fast. “Look,
I’m really not sure about this, It was a great idea in
theory...”

Sean’s heart beat rose when he spied a familiar looking woman
and a young girl approaching the table. His eyes barely left the
woman’s face as he took in the subtle changes to his former
girlfriend’s face. The past eight years had been kind to her,
she had barely changed.
He wasn’t sure what to think. Had Chase and Judy set this up
knowing their history or had they conveniently forgotten about
it? He frowned slightly at Sierra’s words.
“I don’t know about you, but I think we could at least give it a
chance and see what we can come up with.” He said earnestly his
eyes focusing on her.
Both Judy and Chase looked rather surprised at his words. “If
you need one of us or someone to be there for a brainstorming
session we could do that.” Chase offered.

Sean’s words had Sierra trying to laugh at him. He would make it
seem like she was the one being immature about it. Her eyes left
Sean’s ocean blue eyes to look at Mira. She couldn’t outright
deny what Sean was saying, not with him playing that bullshit
game, making her out to be the villain as if she didn’t know who
he was.
“I’m willing to try, but I don’t see this going well. At all.”
Sierra said with a bit of hidden harshness in her voice. She
leaned over to whisper in Sean’s ear, trying not to let others
hear her. “Don’t fucking high road me Sean. Even if we work
together, I will never forgive you.” Sierra said, slightly
annoyed that he tried to pull that on her.
“I would prefer it if it were just us. Don’t really need more
people to witness this go up in flames.” Sierra said. There was
no way that the two of them could get along through this.
Already, Sierra was rather uncomfortable being in the same room
as the man she’d fallen so madly in love with, the man she had
never gotten over, the one who had broken her heart. Now, all
she had left of their love was Mireya.

Sean turned his gaze away when Sierra replied in a harsh tone.
So much for being civil. Her whispered words had him nearly
choking on his water. She blamed him for everything that had
happened? She had been the one that had blindsided him,
breaking up the day after their high school graduation.
“Why are you mad at me? What did I do? You broke up with me. I
still don’t know why.” he whispered back itching the left side
of his chest.
“It is probably better if you don’t get more involved,” Sean
agreed shooting a rather annoyed look at Chase. He should have
never let himself get talked into this. He should probably just
leave before it got any worse.

“Mommy, who are these people?” Mireya asked, causing Sierra to
turn and look back at her daughter before smiling down at the
girl.
“They’re co worker's, baby.” Sierra said. “We’ll be out of here
soon,” Sierra explained to the girl, smiling down at her
daughter happily.
Sierra raised an eyebrow at Sean’s whispered words back to her.
How could he even say that? How could he pretend not to know
what she was talking about. He thought of her as the villain in
his narrative, just as she blamed him for breaking her heart.
“You don’t know why? What, have you blocked out every memory of
cheating on me so you can make me the villain in your fucking
mind? You broke my fucking heart, Sean.” Sierra whispered,
looking at him sadly. “Even f that’s true, if you didn’t know
why I left, why would you let me leave?‘ Sierra sighed. “The
only reason I can think of is that you never actually loved me
anyway.”

Sean took a deep breath and released it before taking a long
drink of his water. He almost wished he was a drinker, maybe
some alcohol would help his frayed nerves. Sierra was pushing
all his buttons and starting to annoy him.
He glanced over at the little girl and listened to how Sierra
interacted with her daughter. She was a good mother at least. It
was nice that she had been able to move on after their breakup.
He had never really gotten over it.
Sierra’s angry words in his ear had him even more frustrated and
confused than ever. Why would she think he had cheated on her?
He had never done anything of the sort so why would she think
such a thing of him?
“I never cheated on you, you are and have been the only female I
have ever kissed or touched.” He replied back his body almost
shaking. “What the hell are you talking about?” He whispered
furiously.
“I was heartbroken and had no idea what to do. My parents told
me it was for the best. I tried to find you a few days later but
your parents and siblings wouldn’t tell me where you were.”

might even have kids like you.”

Sierra could tell she was rather bothering Sean. It wasn’t like
she meant to, but she couldn’t help it. She loved him, always
had. It didn’t just go away just because he had broken her heart
all those years ago. She sipped her water, watching Sean
cautiously. He was getting angry, which Sierra thought odd
considering the fact that he had been the one who had been
wrong.
She narrowed her eyes as she heard Sean say he hadn’t cheated on
her. “Why are you lying? I saw you, Sean. Making out with that
random girl. You broke my heart, left it in pieces and you can’t
even own up to it?” Sierra replied, her body going tense with
anger at his flat-out denial of it. What kind of man couldn’t
own up to what he’d done?
Oh, she’d struck a nerve in Sean as he asked her what the hell
she was talking about. Clearly telling him he hadn’t loved her
had truly pissed him off. Sierra frowned, listening to Sean. Her
mind tried to process that as Sean said he’d looked for her
after that. Before she could actually respond, Sierra caught him
saying he had never stopped loving her, that maybe he would have
moved on with kids.
Sierra had to stop herself from laughing at the irony of him
saying maybe he’d be married with kids of his own. She couldn’t
help it, of course. But Sean had no idea that her darling
daughter was his kid. Not that she intended to tell him.
Instead, she simply blinked at him and said “What?”
