Micah Hartman joined the long line of people waiting to get on
the subway towards the uptown district of London where the
Ministry of Magic building was located. The brisk spring breeze
tore around him making him shiver as he glanced around for the
familiar head of the young woman he'd been getting to know
rather well. He frowned when he didn't see her familiar red
hair, though it was possible with this breeze she was wearing a
hat to keep her head warm.
Finally, the line started moving as people got on the subway and
he followed, weaving around the people coming off. One man
shoved him aside rudely and Micah turned with an angry look only
to see the man bowl Rosalie over. "Jerk," Micah said as he moved
to help the young woman pick up the files that had fall to the
ground. "Let me help you, Rosa," He said using his nickname for
her turning to chase down a paper that started to blow away. He
managed to catch it without using magic and returned it to her.
"You okay? You didn't get hurt on the way down did you?" He
asked as he picked up more files not really paying them any
mind, as his eyes were on her. "I have half a mind to chase him
down and read him the riot act," he said shaking his head. "Here
you go," He said handing her the files and then stood up and
offered her his hand.
"Do you have time for a cup of coffee before going into the
office?" he asked. They normally didn't spend all that much time
together in the morning, as they usually had to get to work
early. Today, however, Micah felt like showing up late for once.
Strict rules often chaffed him the wrong way. He followed them
but not willingly.
"If not, maybe we can get something after work? Or do you have
plans with Dillon tonight?" He asked as they both got onto the
subway and squeezed into what space was available.

Waiting for the subway toward the uptown district of London
where the Ministry of Magic was located, Rosalie sighed.
Mornings were always horrible. These subways were always packed
and Rosalie always had a lot of files in her hands. She was an
agent of a specialized Auror group, working on top secret
missions. Somewhat like an FBI agent in the United States. As
she stood on the subway, Rosalie looked for the familiar blonde
hair of the guy she’d been getting to know, Micah.
Before she could see him, the girl was shoved by a brutish man
who was rushing off of the subway. Her papers went flying,
causing Rosalie to curse under her breath. This could be bad.
The woman rushed to try to gather them all up. Hearing Micah as
he spoke, Rosalie sighed. ”Thank you.” His offer to help was
kind, not to mention she needed those documents. Once she had
the papers, Rosalie took a deep breath and stood up. When Micah
asked her if she had been hurt, Rosalie noticed a bit of blood
on her arm. She was wearing a red dress, somewhat summery but
still professional, with a pair of high heeled boots, and her
arms had been exposed. ”I’ll be fine, yeah.” The woman smiled,
looking at Micah. Finally, they managed to get onto the subway.
Hearing his question, Rosalie smirked. It was a bad idea, but
not one she would regret. ”I can be late. I could use a cup of
coffee.” Disregarding the fact that she had a meeting, Rosalie
smiled. Spending time with Micah would definitely be more fun.
They were getting to be close friends, and she rather enjoyed
spending time talking with Micah. Sometimes it was more fun than
talking to Dillon, her boyfriend.

"You're welcome Rosalie," He said once they had finished
collecting the papers. He looked her over closely and caught
sight of the blood on her arm. His eyebrows narrowed his face
going rather dark.
"What an ass, I hope he screws up again like that and someone
catches him next time. Brutes like that don't deserve to be on
the streets. So what if you're in a hurry to get somewhere? He
definitely needs to be taught a lesson in manners." Micah
scoffed.
He let out a deep breath and let out his anger at the incident.
"Sorry, rude people tend to get on my nerves." He apologized.
His face brightened and his kilowatt smile spread across his
face at her answer to his question.
"Oh, awesome. There's that coffee shop across from the main
building that's pretty good. They have some pretty good baked
goods too." He suggested right as his stomach grumbled loudly.
"Yes, as you can tell I skipped breakfast this morning," he said
with a laugh. "Not that i was in a hurry, just too much
remodeling going on in the kitchen to get to anything good." He
said with a sigh. "Seems like Clarice is redoing everything. I
wonder when I'll get a moment of quiet."

Catching Micah glancing her over, Rosalie had to giggle. His
reaction was pretty amusing, and she couldn’t help but smirk at
him. Moving to put her hand on his shoulder, Rosalie smiled.
”Relax, Micah. There will always be men like that, there’s
nothing you can do to stop them.” Rosalie giggled. She was
surprised that he was so angry about it, almost in a protective
way. Not that Rosalie mentioned any of this.
Hearing Micah when he spoke, Rosalie giggled. ”I can see that.”
The girl giggled, thinking about how he had reacted. Seeing his
smile at her words, Rosalie couldn’t help but smile at him.
Micah’s smile was infectious, and Rosalie loved seeing it. When
he spoke, Rosalie smirked. This might be a bad idea, but a
meeting sounded miserable, while coffee with Micah sounded like
a lot more fun. ”It sounds lovely. I can’t wait.” Rosalie said,
looking at Micah.
When he said he hadn’t eaten, Rosalie frowned at him. That
wasn’t a good thing. Micah went on to explain, but Rosalie still
didn’t like it. ”Renovations are no fun unless you’re doing them
together. Dillon and I redid our kitchen together when we moved
in.” Rosalie was more of a do it yourself type, so it made sense
that she would have done it with her boyfriend’s help.

Micah caught the sound of Rosalie giggling at him and shook his
head at her. Here she had just been roughly bowled over by a
huge burly man and she was laughing about his reaction to it. He
had no idea where she got the ability to just brush it off so
easily.
"Trying to, it's hard to not get annoyed with brutes who treat
women so rudely." He told her. "Women are supposed to be
cherished. Sorry if my old fashioned decorum seems archaic to
you, it's been ingrained in me from birth." He added with a
smirk.
Micah couldn't help but see how much Rosalie was smiling at him.
Was it just her personality that she was the bubbly smiling type
or did she just like to be around him? He couldn't help but hope
it was being around him that made her happy. Of course he felt
guilty for feeling that way, she had a boyfriend after all.
However he was elated when she said spending time with him would
be lovely.
"I'm sure you'll like it," He told her with a wink. "They've got
some amazing stuff. Bearclaws as big as your face, cinnamon
rolls to die for, orange zest scones, the list goes on. Can you
tell I'm starving?"
He was rather grateful to have found a spot on the subway that
wasn't too crowded or with people who would listen in on their
conversation. "yeah I agree. I was fine with the last one she
did, seems like she just likes to change things around when she
gets bored. I tried to tell her she could get a job or volunteer
somewhere so she wouldn't have so much spare time. She wasn't
too happy with those suggestions." He said shrugging. "I really
don't understand people who don't want to work. Work is
exciting, and our jobs are helpful too."
The subway came to a stop and Micah moved towards the exit. "So,
what's your poison today? Plain coffee or one of those froofroo
drinks?" He asked teasing her slightly as they walked up the
subway steps to the sunlit streets.

Listening to Micah, Rosalie smiled up at him. ”It’s not archaic,
just refreshing.” Well, it was definitely nice. Rosalie couldn’t
remember the last time Dillon had even tried to be chivalrous or
protect her. But then, Rosalie was more than capable of
protecting herself. ”You’re so sweet, Micah. Clarice is lucky.”
Rosalie said with a smile. Not that she didn’t sort of wish she
was on the receiving end of his sweet, affectionate ways. Not
that Rosalie would admit it.
Seeing his wink, Rosalie giggled. It wasn’t flirty, she knew
that, but Micah was still cute. ”Oh! A cinnamon roll sounds
amazing right now!” Rosalie exclaimed excitedly. She giggled
when he said he was starving, but said nothing about it. Hearing
Micah when he spoke again, Rosalie couldn’t help but laugh a
little. ”Well, some women only want to be a homemaker.” Still,
it would be dreadfully boring for Rosalie to imagine being a
homemaker, especially since she had such an exciting job.
Dangerous, but exciting.
When the subway stopped, Rosalie smirked as she headed towards
the exit. As they walked, Rosalie heard Micah’s words and
giggled. ”You know I hate plain coffee!” The girl responded,
giggling a little. She was definitely the type to go for girlie
“froo-froo” drinks, as Micah called them, but that didn’t bother
her. Moreso, Rosalie wanted to be happy with her choices in
everything.

Micah was rather relieved that Rosalie wasn't one of those women
who found his style archaic. He smiled back at her and nodded.
He couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt at her mention of
Clarice. When was the last time he and his fiance had gone on a
date? He couldn't seem to recall. That really was bad. He was
going to have to do something nice for her if he could get her
away from her house projects.
"Yeah, I guess she is." He agreed looking down feeling like a
jerk. Here he was smiling and spending time with a friend who
made him feel the things his fiance should elicite. he couldn't
help but wonder when Clarice had stopped making him feel so
elated and happy just being in her presence.
"they do don't they?" He asked with a big smile. "I think I'm
going to get one of their bearclaws, and an orange zest scone,
then we can try some of all of them." He said eagerly.
He sighed and nodded at Rosalie's comment. "I could understand
her better if she did want to be a homemaker, she's not
interested in cooking though. Just changing the way things look,
and buying a lot of furniture on whim." he added with a sigh.
"I'd be good with a comfy couch and a couple of chairs to go
with the dining room table. Did you know she's added like thirty
pillows to the bed for decoration? Talk about overkill," He said
with a laugh.
Micah grinned wider at Rosalie's words. "Oh I know, I just like
giving you a hard time." He admitted. He took in a deep breath
and looked up to admire the view. "Looks like the sun is giving
us a rare appearance today." he said with a smile.
They walked a few blocks chatting about different things before
Micah lead her across the street to the small coffee shop across
from the Ministry building. "It may look like a little hole in
the wall at first glance, but it's definitely much more." He
opened the door and held it open for her. "After you," he said
with a happy smile.

Seeing Micah had gotten lost in thought, Rosalie thought about
how it had been weeks since she and Dillon had gone on a date,
or even really seen each other. Well, part of that was as much
Dillon’s fault as it was Rosalie’s. Considering the fact that he
was always working off in other countries, and she was sometimes
gone on undercover missions. It was an imperfect world, and it
seemed like lately, she spent more time with Micah than her
boyfriend. Micah was a close friend, no doubt about that, but it
did seem wrong that she wasn’t spending more time with her
boyfriend.
When he spoke, Rosalie smiled. ”I was thinking… I might go away
for a couple of days, go see Dillon. He’s been gone for quite a
while.” Surprising Dillon could be fun, or it could result in a
breakup. Mostly because Rosalie was beginning to suspect that he
didn’t want to be around her anymore. ”Though I suspect if I do,
we might not stay together. Seems like we never even see each
other anymore.” Rosalie said as she looked around. It might be
weird that she was telling Micah this, but she trusted him
completely.
When Micah said something about getting all the options he had
listed, Rosalie couldn’t help but giggle. It was so funny, not
to mention obvious that Micah was hungry. Really though, the
options of getting many things to try did not seem bad at all.
As she listened to him talk about Clarice, Rosalie giggled. It
seemed funny that his fiancé wanted to renovate so often, but it
was sort of bad that she was obsessed with it instead.
Rosalie giggled when she heard Micah say he was teasing her. Of
course he had been. It was his pattern and she knew it. Rosalie
didn’t respond, smiling at him instead. They walked to this hole
in the wall type place on the opposite side from where the
Ministry was at, and Rosalie was surprised she had never seen
the place before. She nodded, wondering what the place was like.
Micah held open the door for her and Rosalie walked in. The
woman stared in awe once she was inside. The place was huge.

Micah listened to Rosalie as she talked about spending a few
days with Dillon. He raised an eyebrow when she admitted he'd
been gone for quite awhile. he wasn't going to say it outloud
but it sounded like the guy might doing other things than work
behind her back. Of course that was because he was suspicious by
nature. He hoped he was wrong and that Dillon was just busy with
work.
"That would be a good idea." He said. Then he was a bit stunned
to hear her admitt that she felt like her and Dillon might break
up. For the strangest reason this made him feel all sorts of
things he shouldn't be feeling. He tried to shake them off, and
not say them.
"Well I can't say I'm sorry to hear that. It sounds like he's
been gone for a long time and neglecting you a great deal. You
deserve better than that." He told her.
He couldn't help but smile and enjoy the sound of her giggle. It
was much different from Clarice's which somehow just got on his
nerves. Perhaps it was her always trying to appear regal and
sophisticated that held her back from expressing her happieness
that just bugged him. He much preferred Rosie's infectious
giggling. It rather was very endearing to him and he knew he'd
never get tired of listening to it.
When he opened the door to usher her in he watched her closely
to see what Rosalie's expression would be realizing that the
shop was actually run by magic users. Micah chuckled and put his
hands on her shoulders to move her out of some exiting traffic
and over into the line of customers waiting to make their
orders.
"Hey Micah!" called one of the owners as he walked by them. "I
can take your order for you, the line's a little long today. I
know you have to get to work across the street," He offered with
a wide smile.
Micah grinned and looked at the line of people giving him the
stink eye. "Well..that would be rather rude to all these people
waiting to order," He said for everyone to hear.
The owner shook his head. "You never do skip in line, the world
needs more people like you Micah," the man said patting him on
the shoulder and then eyed Rosalie. "Oh so you brougth a newbie?
Wonderful. Jane! make sure to take care of Micah and his friend
when they get to you." The man called and strode away whistling.
Micah laughed and shook his head, moving to join the line of
people at the end. "So, yeah he asks me the same thing every day
and every day I decline. Just because I have a job that's
important shouldn't give me a big head. Everyone should get the
same treatment if you ask me." He told her with a grin.
The wait actually didn't take all that long, they only had to
wait for about five minutes until it was their turn. "Hey Jane,
we'd like one cinnamon roll, a giant bearclaw, one of your
orange zest scones, a black cup of coffee, and one of your froo
froo cappuchinos for my friend Rosalie," he said with a smile at
the server.
"Coming right up! Does this friend of yours want caramel, or
chocolate on top of her whipped cream?" Jane asked with a smile.
"I'm going to say both," Micah said with a laugh looking at
Rosalie. He pulled out his money clip and slide a 20 dollar bill
to the girl. She shook her head and slid it back. "No dice
mister, I have my orders from the big man himself." She said
with a laugh. "Come on," Micah persisted. "Let it go towards the
next few people in line," He whispered with a grin. Jane laughed
and took it. "Fine, shall I tell them to pay it forward?"
Micah grinned. "Sure, let's see how long it'll last this time."
Then he took the recept she gave him and drew Rosalie by the
elbow over to an empty table to sit down. "So what do you want
to talk about while we wait?" He asked leaning closer to look
her over with a smile.
