       President Buhari Mourns Over Uyo Church Building Collapse

       President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the
       collapse of a church building in Akwa Ibom that resulted in the
       death of about 100 people.
       The governor of Akwa Ibom state Emmanuel Udom on Friday,
       December 9, escaped death as a church building in Uyo, Akwa Ibom
       state collapsed.
       President Buhari commiserates with Abia people over church
       building collapse
       The whole building of the church, Reigners Bible Church, located
       along Uyo Village road, collapsed, witness told Premium Times.
       The church was said to be filled to its capacity following the
       consecration of its pastor as a Bishop when the incident
       happened.
       The church building collapse “Pastor Akan Week was being
       consecrated today so the programme was holding inside the Church
       when suddenly, the whole building collapsed,” a witness said.
       In a statement issued by Garba Shehu who is the senior special
       assistant to President Buhari on media and publicity, he
       confirmed that Buhari spoke on phone with Governor Emmanuel and
       congratulated him and his family for their lucky escape.
       The president also commiserated with the people of Akwa Ibom
       over the loss of lives caused by the building collapse. Buhari
       also urged those in the region to rally around those who lost
       their loves ones and prayed for quick recovery for those who
       sustained injuries.
