Read Spaxpore's guide to cleaning after using corrosive
ammo...just one question...do you dismantle and clean the bolt
on a Mosin in the same way as barrel/breach..thanks

Yes you sure do. Most importantly make sure you clean the bolt
face as best you can, otherwise you will begin to notice a ring
around the hole where the firing pin comes out. You may also
want to take care to wipe down the bolt knob and any other
exterior surfaces where your bare hand contact metal. Some
peoples body chemistry will irreparably tarnish a bolt over
night. Also of importance is to wear eye protection while
disassembling the bolt. The firing pin spring on Mosins is
quite strong and can shoot out of the bolt body like a rocket if
you are not careful. There are lots of youtube videos on bolt
disassembly if you need assistance. Or ask here and we'll be
       happy to help.

Mat nailed it. Once you do it a few times, it's like riding a
       bike.
I, unfortunately, am one of those people whose body loves to
tarnish the metal on guns. Must be all the salt lol.

Thanks for the info...have already dismantled bolt so know how
that goes...in review..clean&lube any metal part that has been
exposed to corrosive ammo...brings up another point..is there
       any inexpensive non corrosive(non surplus)ammo
available..surplus looks like 25 cents a round and the other
looks like about $1 per round.

A quick search and I found PPU for .65 per rd. Every once in
awhile silver/brown bear go on sale. keep your eyes peeled.
Cleaning for corrosive isn't that big of a deal once you develop
a system that works for you, and your wallet will appreciate the
       discount on surplus.

Herter's 7.62x54r ammo sold at Cabela's is really Tula made
modern non corrosive ammo is usually around $.50 a round during
       almost all of their sales.
