Platoon. Every vet I've talked to says that's the most accurate
representation of their experiences. Sad thing is, that was a
true story, and it was the first two weeks of a deployment. Hell
on earth.

I'm no Oliver Stone fan but I do recall that Platoon was based
on his experience in the 'Nam. But going back to Full Metal
Jacket, I forget about that one because I usually only watch the
front half and pass on the Vietnam portion but I agree its a
classic!

Full Metal Jacket because it's a classic and the beginning takes
place in "thumping" 3rd battalion, which I was in when I was a
recruit. A close second is definitely "Platoon".
