I feel that it is a little know fact that the Martini Henry had
a shot gun munition manufactured for it for riots in the
colonies of India. What do you guys think of it?

I know almost nothing about Martini-Henry rifles so if you could
please excuse the following question:
I understand the concept and purpose for the shot shells being
produced, but wouldnt the buck shot damage the rifling on the
inside of the barrel?

Yes, the shot shell will harm the rifling. From what I
understand they were used sparingly with the rifles. However
some rifles were converted to smooth bores for this reason and
were issued to police units and prison guards. I have tried it
with my rifle and had terrible results with both buck shot and
bird shot. The shot pattern is far too wide to hit a single
target, however it used for say a riot, then they could be
effective.
